9:41 Imagine having a bad run and Mike Matusow being sat next to you quietly whispering in your ear. lol.
Last thing you need to be hearing when you’re trying to concentrate
Both Ivey and Dwan knew the other didn't have anything and they knew the other knew they didn't have anything too. That's why it was so interesting. Phil was legit mad at Dwan for making him work harder for what should've been a gimme pot
Ivey is a brilliant player in every respect.
certainly he has an "advantage"
I tried to do these plays at my local casino and now I am BROKE!!!! LOL
Lmfao me too 😂
Noob. I love getting fish like you at my table.
@@doriangray2020 I'll beat you any day noob
You need to win a couple of pots and get some respect from the other players before bluffing
@@caesar8364 not true. If you bluff almost every hand people will start to believe you. I'm currently down 10K but I'm sure in time I'll make it back with this strategy
His name and reputation combined with skilled opponents make all the difference in the world. Do this as an anonymous player against regular players and you'll get called from all sides.
Rofl.
The button with an incredible feel for his opponents and what they’ll do if X card comes with X action behind it.
Position is everything in poker
Love how Ivey knew exactly where he was at in the first hand and was actually irritated that everybody thought he was bluffing.
He was value betting.
If he knew exactly where he was at shouldn't he have bet smaller for value?
@@levels1937 You're right, but he could also be protecting his not so strong hand especially with 3 spades on the table!
He’s protecting
@@keithkelso9872 protection for sure. Knowing Ivey, it was still value for him 😆
Zero chance this is value bet. Ivey isn’t stupid, what the hell does he beat? Ivey called the flop because there are plenty of hands Ferguson can have that bluff at it (including AK).
Ivey calls the flop. When the club comes and Ferg checks, his range is weighted to a pair of queens or still a bluff.
The check is weak, Ivey puts pressure by betting and wins the pot.
Even a protection bet on this board with a 7 is a bad play, and definitely not a 2/3 bet size.
Ivey turned his hand into a bluff, pure and simple.
Back when poker was still awesome to watch
Why isn't it anymore?
@@XD-lg7hk oh, I know it can be. Maybe I'm just partial to the older matchups. Better banter and maybe a different appreciation for the purity of the game.
triton poker is very fun to watch too, high stakes poker released a new season. there are many good young guns nowadays. they do crazy things people back then didn't use to do.
Still is
“I just play the game” ;)
True G
The J8o hand is nuts
Some people are playing poker, Phil Ivey was always thinking poker
When poker was invented, Phil Ivey had already gone all in, twice
I really like poker but when I play with my friends or just players who are not experienced, these strategy’s and mind games and all aren’t really usefull.
You didn't play high stake poker with your friends or less experienced players.
are you really THAT naive?!?! It appears so
This is a display of advance level play at high stakes poker. If you're not playing high stakes poker, just adjust your tactics to the table.
Chris Ferguson is a name you don't hear anymore these days.
I believe you still hear it, but accompanied by the word "scumbag" or "scandal".
@@liamnevilleviolist1809why what he do?
Google doesn't work for you? @@franzherflek4116
these guys know each other. it's not like a random casino or something.
9:41 "I don't like the way their treating you"...
Thank you
Just me or does Matusow look like the dad in American Pie?
link to the whole play?
In the third hand against Dwan, Ivy definitely had the best hand. I don’t know what the commentators are smoking.
That’s when you know the players well as he did it can work but never always that well especially against a guy like Durrr
Its hand like this that made ferguson rob the poker world
Did someone really comment on here "If you bluff almost every hand people will start to believe you"? ...😑
On anyone's hand, what you have is less important than what others thought you were having. However, we don't play one hand and one hand only, and therefore we have all the maths and systems to guide players along as they play. Unfortunately, all these don't give you a clear head while playing against players like Ivey, and they simply trap you by what you have learned as you try to imagine their hands. The results are simple you beat yourself!
Tried to do this at a poker table, some guy named Phil Ivey showed up, and it didn't work very well.
It's very hard not to press the like button. 🤔🤔🤔
💯 percent correct all you need to know what they have and not what you have and to get them off a weak hand no hand and so on
Poker tip #1. Be Phil Ivey.
The cards always matter. They matter most.
Money matters most in poker. :) Cards are just a way of moving money.
This compilation should have been titled “Shut up Mike!”
Damn, Phil had all their numbers.
Its Phil Ivey so everything at the poker table is possible
Ivey is the goat
Pretty standard really. The cowboy/Pantera dude's hand was pretty face up.
Chris had a good hand but miss tried bluff & steal but nice fold.
I don't like the way they're treating you. LOL Mike has amazing poke ad libs.
What happened to Allen cummingham. He was supposed to be the other young star.

That's why he's the BEST 👌 👍
they are showing only the hands where Ivey's opponents didnt have a hand either. when you lead in that situation, you have the advantage.
The first hand was just a call and then got the paid on the flop and he defended it.
they energy looked scared !!!
My player group goes all in with nothing and manage to win on the river almost everytime. I miss playing with professionals
no ne cares at all, this is not all about you and your friends it means nothing to anyone but you
Ivey really is the shark on the table, the rest are just there to play poker.
The cards matter if you get to show down

Great plays by Phil but something I have to say about the dealers on the Full Tilt million dollar cash game that are irking me:
1) the dealer are rolling the stub (rolling the deck upside down while trying to fix the flop which could expose cards)
2) can’t spread the flop properly
3) are verbalizing each community card
4) are breaking down the bet without being asked to do so
Terrible
They were probably doing 3 and 4 for the at home audience.
Sometimes nothing's a pretty good hand.
C.h.l
So glad I don't see Chris Ferguson on TV anymore. Too many donkeys copy his "meditation" BS.
Why does Tom Dwan always have his mouth open? I feel like a bug would crawl in and he wouldn’t react at all.
Mike Postle could read the opponent's hand way better than what Ivey did here during his $1-$3, $2-$5 live streaming days at Stones. It's a shame that he got sued and broke his poker mojo, otherwise, Mike Postle would've showed up in high roller poker scenes outside of Stones Gambling Hall in Sacramento. 😭
It helps when you literally cheat
If I know that he knows the cards dun matters, I will call him down to Chinatown every street.
Playing THE MAN, and not The Hand.
this is why hellmuth doesn come close to ivey, i dont care who says hellmuth has won so many bracelets, he still isnt as good as ivey.
This dont work for low stakes
The mouth and his taunts ,
Everyone's a poker expert on youtube 🤦
I never bluff is the bluff.
Doesnt any1 ether go the toilet?
I can't stand Tom Dwan and his absolutely TERRIFIED face he makes EVERY-SINGLE-TIME he plays poker. Mouth open, no blinking, just staring at the cards.
He really needs to quit.
Anyone would've folded that first hand. He got lucky Ferguson had nothing but ace high.
my thoughts exactly. no reason to call that 3 bet from Ferguson in first place
If Ferguson had the ace or king of spades….then he’s calling the bet but no pair, no draw, only ace high yeah I’m folding too
@@milominderbinder8655 commentator even said "I think this turn might slow Chris down"
Why? Ivey had the button. Against a tight nit, a 67 can easily beat an AK, AQ, AJ suited combo. Can also crack aces and kings with the right flop for massive stacks. Nothing wrong with playing your opponent and position. You will never see Ivey make a call pre like that against a diff type player.
@@JasonEmerson711 When you are playing versus a tight opponent it’s a reason not to play 67s. After all we are playing range vs range and our equity vs a tight opponent’s range is low with 67s.
What a terrible poker screen
there was really nothing brilliant in this clip. Basic continuation bet strategy and people are folding. Basic poker.
DON’T call Chris “Jesus”!!!
He is one of the Full Tilt THIEVES!
Morongo foo.
it just usial play of regulars. Nothing brilliant. Ivy great poker player, but not becouse of things that show in this video
Can anybody give me 1000 dollars 😢
Dude this poker is painful to watch.
Im no expert but yeah this was laughable.Maybe this was fake?Did everyone just fold to a pot sized bet on the turn back then? That last hand seemed really suspect.
@@levels1937 I dont think you people know the effects of inflation and how much a million dollar was back then. Or even 20k dollars, which is some small bet sizes there.
@@focusaddiction3460 I am fully aware. I have been an adult through the entire time period. The value of currency is irrelevant though. These guys are not playing with scared money they are playing strategy. Even back then big bets have always been polarizing ones especially from a player with his reputation.
What’s with the British commentator, is there not enough Americans who can do it?
