In response: 1/ if you want to keep your personal data separate from WeChat then sure, but it doesn’t offer much difference from using an international/US number) 2/ the person scanning your registration QR code should be regular users of the app. People who are new users themselves won’t be able to scan it for you. Ie. the WeChat system will check to see if they are legitimate WeChat users that are “verifying” you registration. 3/ if you have added your US credit card to your WeChat Pay account in the app then yes.

Hi Sandra, a Chinese citizen ID number is required to create a personal WeChat Channel. If you want to create a WeChat Channel for your company, it requires a business license.

Hi Manilyn, Mastercard can be added to your WeChat pay as well. When you are paying by WeChat pay, the fund will be deducted from your credit card. However, you can't withdraw money from the credit card and add it to the WeChat fund.

When you click on it, you can deposit it into your WeChat wallet. If you don’t currently have one, WeChat will “create” a WeChat wallet and after depositing you will see a balance. If you can no longer open the red pocket to deposit it likely means the transfer to you had expired. Note: you cannot deposit a red pocket to a credit card or to a bank account not in China.

With WeChat Pay you can't withdraw funds onto a foreign credit card or foreign bank card unfortunately. It has to be a China bank card.
