Many historian are tracing the origin of Meo/mayo/Mew of India and pakistan and the Hmong/miao as sane..according to them they originated around persia abd dispersed in 2,3 directions. Some reached Indus region of India, some towards China...also similar to Hmong,,,,,the Meo/Mayo/Mew of India are also known for their history of Resilience, Bravery, Courage, Rebellion against suppression, preserving their culture and history, honour, pride, strong clan system with 12 or 13 clans. They also have same history of rebellion against suppression and subsequent displacement in search of Freedom. They are Warrior class of Indian society

If you're Mien, I am proud that you are my only brother who we can trust. We fought the Mongols, we fight against the Chinese, and the 18 ethnic groups teamed up with the Hmong-Mien people. We were that much of a terrifying thingy to the Han Chinese. We were like the Greek people of China long ago in the days of the Chu Dynasty. Powerful, we were. China was Rome, and the Hmong-Mien empire was the Greek Empire in China. Sophisticated, indeed. We were highly sophisticated; however, we lack military might and will compare to the Han Chinese. Lao Tzu was our scholar, and he was murdered.

I don’t often see historical documentaries or informative videos like this about the Hmong people. I am Hmong and also first generation American so as someone who was raised and schooled by two very different cultures, thank you for making this video. I think in a small but meaningful way, you healed a part of me I’ve long thought would never be healed.
I’ve always thought the Hmong people were some of the most resilient people I’ve ever known much less have the privilege of being a descendent. Our story is one of constant strife, but on the flip side of that is also a story of intense survival and a deep desire to be free.
When I was young, I encountered a lot of people who would tell me to leave America. “Go back where you came from,” like I was a balrog of Morgoth come to corrupt the good ole’ village people…😅
My response is usually, “I have no country to call my home so if you’re seriously telling me to go back where I came from…I don’t know where that is because as far as I know, there is none.”
That usually gets people really uncomfortable and I can walk away satisfied. 😅 I mean…if you want me to more like a balrog of Morgoth…I can be.

Seeing as Hmong people are the unicorns among Asians, this is by far one of the most accurate briefings on the Hmongs that I’ve watch. Besides the mispronunciation (which is understandable cause even young Hmong people can barely speak their own language now-a-days 😅) all points were well researched and pretty darn accurate for the limited documented knowledge of our people.
    Great job.

During the oppressive regime of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), an estimated ninety percent of the Hmong population underwent forced cultural assimilation into Han Chinese society as a survival strategy. This systematic acculturation was a direct response to the dynasty's aggressive policies of cultural homogenization and political subjugation of ethnic minorities.

@@fuethao8633 Historical evidence suggests that full social and economic integration into Qing society required complete cultural assimilation. While oral traditions maintain certain narratives about Hmong ancestry, genetic analysis presents compelling alternative evidence. A culture that can never be duplicated or munipulated by any outsiders. Great story LEGENDS of shamans and spiritual people who made ultimate sacrifices for their people to be free, that can only be told by wise elders. Those who still believes in holding on to our ancestors roots and history, a story of LOVE and WAR, by passing it down to the younger generations. Some even change their names and purposely choose not to speak Hmong or learn the rich Hmong culture. I am sad to say that there will be a day when the Hmong language and rich culutre will be no more. Sad but so true. Excellent video that shows the sacrifices and struggles of the Hmong people over time, from China to America. There are many Hmong people scattered throughout the world. This is a video that is easy to follow and understand for those that have Hmong blood but an English tongue.
Please, my Hmong brothers & sisters... do not place blame on the children that do not speak Hmong. Language is learned. If it is not used regularly within the household, it is not the child's fault whether or not they learn the language. This includes the children of mixed blood, they ARE Hmong nonetheless. We don't get to choose who we are born as.

As old as any tales shared through elders, Hmong/Miao why they no longer have blonde hair and blue eyes, the blood was mixed with Chinese. At the end of their San Miao Kingdom, all males over the age of 7 were killed, and all females were given and or sold to royalty and or military as concubines. The genocide of the entire group was almost extinct, as per any fallen kingdom. Anything and everything about this group will silenced and burned as per China. A Chinese professor nearly 20 years ago wrote a website for the San Miao Kingdom and his studies were about Hmong/Miao. Although he warned me then, he was told many times by officials in China, that this is a topic he should abandon. It's truly heartbreaking that most wouldn't even know of their origins, those who want to speak of the actual existence of Hmong will be silenced. There will be plenty who will pose as elders, even if they do not know of their exact origin and how they came to exist in the United States, who are the ones who made it possible for them to be here. Do not forget who you are, and what was done to your people through China and then the United States, you are Hmong. If the Hmong does not love and value the Hmong, who will? As said through many centuries...
