In all seriousness he was playing really well despite getting bodied. I don't watch a lot of melee besides like mango. but I could tell from the little things he was doing to try and claw back or just hanging in there it's rough out there.

Personally I think Zain during the online melee era was one of the most dominant players of all time. The gap widened to 5 gods era where only 2-3 people could even beat him. Was definitely an exciting time to be a melee fan!

Dude, Zain went off so hard in this set in particular, and this might end up being one of my most favorite sets of the tournament. The style, combo sense, and EVERYTHING in between was all INSANE. Zain is my GOAT.
He is good. Caught a few stuff as I watched him play. Yes, he was styling and feeling himself. But he also has the skill to do so and still come out on top. He has great spacing in his game. Knows how to stay out of range of enemies attacks and be just out of hit box to then counter. He has strings and knows his character. Btw, the spacing and out of range and having enemy whiff moves more often is a skill of it's own. Not everyone does that. Also to react to the enemies moves to be able to pull it off is something you need. Knowledge and reaction.
Seriously, some melee fans can be the most narcissistic pricks imaginable, and never in my life will I consider touching the competitive melee scene, but damn it if this isn't one of the most fun games to watch competitively

@@Thierce My experience with melee is that it doesn't take a massive skill difference to allow someone to completely dominate matches. Slightly experienced players can wipe the floor with noobs, the top 200 players can do the same with the former, and top 100 with the aforementioned, and the cream of the crop can often dab on the top 100. Aura might be good, but he is far enough for Zain to absolutely trounce unless Aura is playing out of his mind. Suddenly, this performance from Zain isn't wildly impressive, it's just a flashy skill difference showcase. If this was Leffen or Mango and Zain danced on him to this extent, then I'd be starstruck.
Who would you say has a stronger mental game right now? Because Zain is also incredibly consistent and it’s basically impossible to be at your best *all* the time.
