this is one of my favorite match-ups. These characters are so janky with the usual top tiers, but each of them nullifies the others unique advantages.

Yeah even today Toph is a very good player. He was top 100 10 years ago so people might get the impression that he is just a washed commentator (which is also a joke that a lot of commentators make about themselves), but I would wager that Toph is certainly still better than the majority of the playerbase.
