The best player to ever grace the game in my opinion. Played 1024 games, 805 goals and 356 assists. He started playing in the Barcelona first team at 16 and he's now playing at PSG and he's 35. He just won the World Cup with Argentina last year, which has cemented him as the greatest of all time for me. Alongside your gorgeous self of course 😛😂

The most amazing thing about Messi is his close control. Most good attacking footballers still knock the ball relatively far forward as they run with it. With Messi, he makes more smaller deft touches. It's almost like the ball is somehow magnetically just in front of him all the time. Astonishing skill.

Also an ex footballer here. Most people watch his goal highlights. Yet he has soon much more. Best passer, dribbler, chance creator, and playmaker I've ever seen.
To add to the stats people have brought, Messi scored 91 goals in the year of 2012, the most scored in a calendar year. Also most goals in a season with 73 (2011-2012 season). Also most league goals socred in the last 90 years with 50 (Dixie Dean got 60, but that was almost a century ago). Furthermore, Messi is a very complete player, and not only does he socre, but he's also a great playmaker, and with more than 350 assists under his belt he's the top assister in the history of the sport.

There's a reason many players can do skills and look really flashy, but only Messi and Maradona could just dribble through entire teams and not even break a sweat.

Quite simple the GOAT he has won everything there is to win, he has wowed people his whole career not just a handful of seasons. Every season it’s 30+ goals that In Itself is remark but not as remarkable as the way he’s scored them and I haven’t even mentioned the assists. A privilege to have been alive during his era.

He was born this way. There are clips of him playing when he was 5 years old, and he had almost the exact same moves that he has today. People recognized his greatness back then. There was such a buzz about him that Barcelona signed him when he was 13. That almost never happens.

For me George Best . European success with Man U. he played when tackling was allowed and pitches were mud . You can't really compare today's game with the 70/80s but he had amazing strength and balance coupled with amazing skill . There is a famous slow motion of him riding at least three tackles that would be sending off today just to get one cross in .
Good call, Dave. They showed a recording of a full match, Benfica vs United, a European Cup, 1966 on tv a few years back. Benfica were deemed the best in Europe at the time, George Best was 19. United won 5-1 and Best ran the show completely. Shock waves around Europe. If he had played with the modern ball and no contact like we have today he probably really would be at least as good as Messi. At least.

There are so many that could and should be named but there's a few. There are some amazing defensive minded players aswell but unfortunately they rarely get the recognition they deserve.

All time greatest football player ever. Won every trophy/ cup/ acalaid going. Over 1059 matches he scored 822 and 398 assists. Highest goal scoring player ever. (Ask any apposing player!) Undoubtably my favourite all round footballer. You ought to look up his life at the very beginning of playing football as a boy, ended up having operations on his legs because he was so small. I think the best time was we he played with the greatest football team ever which was of course Barcelona! If ever in Barcelona a tour to Camp Nou to see the trophy room and stadium, both huge, not to be missed. When Barcelona play, ALL of Barcelona is taken over by the game. A full Stadium and every phone/i-pad/bar and cafe full of fans,watching the match. Incredible! If your a fan of football, this is something else! Oh and I'm not Spanish, I'm a Brit. As a side note to you Amanda, another thing to see in Barcelona is their food market, best I've ever seen
