No other modern day sportsman has been labeled the ‘best ever’ more times than the Argentina/Barcelona legend Lionel Messi. His genius is undoubtedly one of a kind and it seems highly unlikely that we will witness someone similar in our lifetime.
Messi is unarguably one of those few players who would shadow any other great player. Is the Rosarino (from Rosario) the best player ever? Lest he remains at least in the same bracket as Maradona, Pele and Cruyff when he decides to hang up his boots.
There’s no doubt that we will tell tales of Messi to the next generations a few decades from now. We'd sooner revel in his greatness, watching on this video than making senseless comparisons. The great Wayne Rooney said it best: “Don’t write about him, don’t try to describe him. Just watch him.”
Verdy is spot on. Messi doesn't find spaces, he creates them. Watch how he slices through the backline, and beckons the goalie to shift his right expecting Messi, a left footed to strike towards his left while the backline fans out following him as they expect him to angle further left but then he crosses the ball to his right fooling goalkeeper+defenders. They never had a chance. Messi can run with the ball at a hundred percent full speed. Count the touches he takes on the count of one hand. The ball is just glued/tied to his foot. Virtually impossible to counter!... Wait, what? Who says Maradona, also short and left-footed? In my humble opinion Messi is better than Maradona; more complete, more consistent, more spectacular. Simply put Messi reinvented the game - a mix of the real and the virtual.
It´s senseless trying to describe what anyway remains elusive to most of us... That´s not how art functions... Art pleads to our senses and intuition, not to our logic.

On every reaction video i just see Messi & i dont watch reactions but u were so beautiful i couldn't hold myself so i watched every single second
I've watched how wonderfully he keeps his knees in when he dribbles, how close he keeps the ball while moving at speed, and how his short quick strides enable him to balance through traffic. I can only imagine his brain reacting to body shifts by defenders and using that knowledge instantly. His mastery of field vision and complete focus when he has the ball makes everyone want to know what it feels like to fill those shoes just once.

I really like your reaction and the video you chose. I’ve watched almost every single goal live back in the days and thinking, what kids will think in the future. I mean I’m 42 and also saw Maradona world champion when I was 6 years old, yes I remember every match. And then I moved to New York on the 90’s and moved back to Argentina 2 years ago and was lucky to see all these cups my country is winning here. But of course now is like a cliche to like Messi. Back on ‘06 I was going around New York trying to show the few TH-cam videos of Messi there were at the time. And nobody payed attention. It must be so frustrating as a defender. These are just his goals, he can pass too. And look how he rips spaces in the defense, they see one is not enough to stop him, so another defender goes in and another and if he doesn't see an opportunity for himself, he can just pass to one of his teammates who are now pretty free. How do you defend against that? You have to decide to trust one or two of your defenders or send more and leave undefended space elsewhere.
It's less frustrating when you face one of the greatest footballers ever. Most defenders tend to speak quite fondly about the night they were humiliated by the best player they have ever seen.
He’s the best thing that ever happened to us Argentinians. And he shows himself as such a good and simple person. You watch him talk and he seems like just a good guy. Is not what maybe you expect as the best player of probably all times!

I’m not a feminist, but i support woman sports because i love sports and even more Women!
But jokes aside, women should make an effort to support because male sports has been around for a very long time, and have a long way from frienfly to amateur to profesional to very highly paid. This road has to be the same for women, until they reach a base of fans big enough for sponsors and TV to pay more money.
