Your passion for what you do is so evident in the beauty you create and the ease with which you execute it. Thanks for generously sharing and teaching your skills and talents.
Delightful arrangements, easy to transport and easy for the church to look after when the ceremony is over. I always think its nice to leave some flowers behind after a wedding for others to enjoy in the days after. Thank you for showing us.
Love these alter arrangements, I'll be certain to craft them for several in my area. Very appreciative that Flower Joos has gone there for us religious florist who do an abundance of alter type arrangements every week or so based upon economics of course.
Sandy H. Gerbera are perfect as they are a good size and shape - so perfect to catch the eye from a distance. And no there are some really funky petal shapes and colours! 😀🙋🏼♂️
I just love this. You made it so looks so easy to execute. I usually use a sponge to hold them. But, never thought to do it as a hand tied. Will have to give this a try.
These are wonderful, John. I do a lot of single altar arrangements given our set up, but I occasionally will use two. I like the containers quite well, too. The gerberas are wonderful! Thanks so much!
Hello John.👋Lovely to have you back😃wishes for a great new yearto you. This design is gorgeous and I'd certainly be very pleased to receive such a bouquet or give as a gift😃As always thank you kindly for sharing your wonderful floral designs with us!
Julia McCarthy it’s great to be back in an exciting new flowery year! Thank you for the lovely comments and a Happy New Year to you! Let’s have some floral fun 😀🙋🏼♂️
Diese Gerbera sind sehr schön. Ich habe diese Art in einem Krimi von Edgar Wallace gesehen (der Hexer) und da fand ich sie schon cool. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍💞💞💞💞
These videos are wonderful. I cannot wait to try them! How do you keep the Gerbera heads from drooping? Have you had that problem? I have noticed that a lot of florists leave a little protective tube on them. Would that be appropriate on an altar arrangement? Thank you!
Thank you 😊 if the gerbera have good strong stems and have had a good drink then they don’t need any additional support. But if they are facing in different ways you can choose where best for placement - so tall and straight stem up high, bent head lower down so you see into it. The other materials can also provide support. Gerbera hate damage - even scraping the stem can allow bacteria to cause droop, and there is no coming back from that. 😬
Love these, I love those feathery gerbera not seen those before, and super colour. I always have to be careful on our altar as it’s dark area, but the altar background is cream, so difficult to use dark colours, but also difficult for light ones, so I try and use lots of greenery as the background and add light flowers on top of that. Unless you have any other good tips?
Thank you! I think you already have the best approach - lighter colours because the area is dark, but foliage to frame them so they also show up on the cream background - and I’m a little bit fond of foliage, it helps fill a design but also in nature the balance is more to foliage anyway. Shop bought foliage can be dark greens a lot of the time, so silvers and greys like eucalyptus and senecio will bring light into the area. Hope that helps? 😀🙋🏼♂️
I love gerbera, but I'm always afraid that after couple of days it's stem gets softened and droopy. Some churches keeps it on the altar for a week or so. Should wrapping up wires around each one of them or insert one inside be a good idea? Would it injure the flowers or it's stems?
Libra yes, I know what you mean. I think they were more of a problem in the past - now they are much stronger, and straighter. I agree - you could wire, but the wire may damage the stem, and just like calla any damage will cause the flower to not last as well as it might. You could try and support the flower with the surrounding materials used - that is a good approach 😀🙋🏼♂️
The water gives some weight - enough for these designs, but you could pop in a few stones in the bottom of the vases to add more weight. Tall designs like this are prone to getting knocked over - but on an altar or away from activity then this isn’t an issue. 🙂 Thanks for watching 🤗🙋🏼♂️
