    My composit bed has held up better then any steel bed I've ever owned and I overload my tacoma two or three times a year with stone, coal and firewood. Sometimes's with more then a ton. One summer I hauled over 100 tons of stone. These are definitely unnecessary except perhaps where you install a camper shell or something similar.

    Just a quick suggestion for anyone doing this. I would recommend using a small brush and a bit of primer to touch up those drilled holes otherwise with moisture and condensation you could develop rust and rot over time. Or at the very least some urethane window sealer on the exposed metal. Not a problem for the short term but people pass these tacos down and could be helpful for future resale owners.

      Great point! I totally agree. I use POR-15 rust preventive and top coat combination.

    • @skytechenterprise9906

      Or apply antisieze to threads and flange head of bolts, it will prevent rust forming as well.

    I should probably do these for when the rack and tent is on my bed! I like the extra mounts they provide, am a little concerned the bottom lip will impede sliding cargo in and out. Keep ‘em coming Chloe!!

      I have an access cab (probably more likely to crack since it's a long bed) and I also have a double cab short bed. I off road all the time on both with a bunch of gear and I've never had any issues. I live in Hawaii and everyone has a tacoma and I've never heard of them cracking.

    I’ve been watching your channel for quite a while and it’s nice to see some of the recommendations I made you’ve actually put on your truck feels good feels like I’m helping you even though I’m not actually there LOL. I did go with a different make and brand then you did I went with total chaos it’s not quite as boxy as yours and follows the lines of the bed and runs higher up the side walls of the box so little different than the one you selected.

    When drilling new holes to line up with existing holes, use a transfer punch. They come in sets. It punches a centered drill point so there's no guessing. Also, it's almost 2022 and the whole world is metric. Why U.S.-based accessory manufacturers still include inch hardware with their products is puzzling. It's that difficult to include M10 fasteners with this kit?

    You make all of the installs seem so easy. Last night I installed the decked drawer system on my 2022 Tacoma Off Road by myself. It wasn’t easy and it took me at least 6 hours. OMG my back is killing me. But the install came out great. Thanks Chole for the inspiration.

    So I have a set of these from my friends kids who run a fabrication / cnc shop from home. They are also powder coated and pretty much exactly the same. What I wanted to point out is on my 08 taco the top bolt is at the exact location of a piece of stiffening metal behind the tail lights. It was an absolute nightmare getting the nut on. One thing also to consider is putting a washer on each side of the bolt, I did this on mine and while probably not needed it should add some additional strength. Great Vid and I really like the deck system.

    Well Miss Toyota, I will be starting the rebuild process on my Tacoma this week. I have all the parts I need other than a few small things I’ll have to get at dealer. I’ve got a 18 Denali duramax I gotta paint , soon as I finish it the yota is next in line. Bed stiffeners are good idea with composite bed. If I was gonna serious off roading I’d prolly go for it to. But I won’t be doing any real hard off roading. Maybe fishing and snowy roads is about all mine will see. Good job as always.

    Thanks Chloe. Those look really beefy. Not sure if you have a spring loaded center punch or not. If you don't, you might want to get one. they are cheap, and help you to center up a hole before drilling it. No hammer needed to hit them, cause the spring action gives the punch the juice it needs to make a starting mark for your drill bit. Again, thanks for what you do Chloe, your a real gem.

    Now I'm wondering if the composite bed is one of the reasons for the lower payload rating of the Tacoma vs. Hilux. Tacoma is rated at 1540 lbs vs 2200 lbs.

    • @alexgarcia3900
      @alexgarcia3900 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's mainly the suspension. American market is different. The tacoma leaf springs are actually super weak.

    • @cunawarit
      @cunawarit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah ok! I'm guessing then that America's mid-size trucks ride better unloaded than world market ones? The new world market trucks are getting better at being comfortable (my 2021 rides very well), but they used to be super stiff unloaded!

    • @alexgarcia3900
      @alexgarcia3900 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cunawarit yeah I own one and it's designed more for off roading and articulation. Stiffer springs are better for heavy loads but limit articulation and make the ride less enjoyable. Americans are very demanding lol and also don't usually use midsize trucks for actual truck use. We use bigger trucks for that purpose.
