    The ICON torque wrench is great IMO. Also, torque wrenches should not be used to break lugs. I’m sure more than one person will mention this!

    • @ChloeKuo
      @ChloeKuo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the ICON recommendation! And I am aware to not break lugs with my torque wrench-I always use a breaker bar and in the video all I meant was that that lugs can be hard to both break/torque for me sometimes

    I hear you. Breaking the lug nuts loose can be a massive pain. Consider using an extra-long break bar. Titan Tools 12047 1/2" Drive 30" Breaker Bar , available on Amazon, is well worth the price.
    Great video, as always. Thanks!

    Awesome video! You need to get a breaker bar for taking off the lug nuts. You can also put a pipe to extend it to give you more leverage.

    Great video. I would suggest to add a kinetic recovery rope into your gear box, for those occasions where you may run into folks during your off road adventures that may need help getting unstuck from unforseen situations.

    When loosening lug nuts, as others have mentioned, please use a long handle breaker bar instead of a torque wrench. Also, I have found it easier to start with the breaker bar handle at the 3 O'Clock position as you can use your leg muscles to assist in breaking the lug nuts loose.

    Hi Chloe please dont use a torque wrench as a breaker bar it will send it out of calibration or even break the mechanism . Breaker bars are far cheaper use the torque wrench for the task it was intended . Also you can exert a greater force by lifting up on the bar , when using gravity i.e. you weight on the bar you can only use gravity but pulling up you can exert a greater force G+ .Hope this helps great Chanel and films. I use the Motivx Tools Kit for oil changes, too. I prefer the Staun Tyre Deflators to air-down. Screw them on the valve stems and they let air out until the pressure reaches the setting. I keep mine set to 18 psig. Usually, by the time I've installed the fourth one, the first one is done.

    Another great video.
    It looks like you do not have hood struts. There are already videos of this install job, but you might come up with some clever improvements for the install process. I got my struts from Spiker Engineering. It is pretty cool to move the safety catch with one hand and push the hood up with your thumb/back of hand and see it lift with no additional effort.

    Another great video Chloe. Your explanations about the tools you use are clear and always include your own user experience which is helpful. I recently converted my garage to all craftsman 20V tools and love the flexibility of one battery for everything. They don’t have a coffee maker yet though so hopefully they step up their game soon😂.

    If you still need leverage on those torq wrenches, purchase some rigid electrical conduit that would fit over your wrench and cut it to the length that would give you the best leverage for you strength and body wieght.

    I have an extendable lug wrench that I bought for my travel trailer, since they don't come with tools for tire changing. I believe the tag on it stated it extends from 15 to 22 inches. Handy for when the tire shop over tightens the lug nuts, or rust has taken its toll

    Good video! I always like watching tool videos. I like your taste in tools. When trying to break bolts, I would avoid using the torque wrench. Instead, I use 1/2” drive breaker bars. I have 18”, 24” and 30” lengths. I keep the 18” in the trunk of my ‘94 C280 along with the 17mm impact socket instead of relying on the factory wrench….regarding oil changes…I use a vacuum method instead of draining from below. I use a EWK 15L pneumatic/manual pump. I am lucky that my oil filter access is from above… if you are looking for tool ideas to add to your kit consider the following….set of stubby hex-head sockets, a multimeter, long reach ratchet wrenches (Mountain brand on Amazon). I recently added a metric set of Bondhus T-Handle hex wrenches and excited about using them soon.

    Chloe, you could keep that torque wreck an just put a pipe on the end of it to make the lever arm longer...like people do with breaker bars. As other people have commented, you should be using a breaker-bar to loosen nuts, not a torque wrench.

  • @russellwood8750
    @russellwood8750 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    There’s nothing wrong with having a couple of torque wrenches and a couple of jacks. As time goes by he will double up on a lot of the tools and this is a good thing you can have a set that will be in the vehicle at all times regardless of where you’re going this way when Something Happens you may be able to fix it or Jerry rig it to get you out of the situation. I’m the second set of tools will be at home in your workshop. Me personally I like having multiple sets this way I’m not leaving something at home and forgetting it as I hit the road a trail what I need is already in the vehicle it’s not missing. In my experience I find you do forget things and leave them out of your kit if you’ve only got the one set. I’m nothing sure when something goes wrong the thing you need will be at home in your garage in the drawer of your toolbox it’s always the way.

    Instead of spending more money buying another torque wrench get yourself a small stainless steel pipe that will fit over the handle of your torque wrench. This way you can extend the length of the wrench giving you more leverage. And making it easier for you to tighten those nuts and bolts.

      The Tacoma has a button under the driver's side of the dash trim to set a new baseline pressure for the TPMS. I air-down to 18 psig using deflators when I arrive at the beach, and reset the TPMS. A week later, I inflate to 30 psig, reset the TPMS, and drive home. I travel with a few other Tacoma owners and none of us have trouble with the TPMS.

    you should of removed the 10mm socket when you showed your sockets... That would of been funny, because of the on going joke about everything is 10mm. (acting like you lost your 10mm) That would of been hilarious. I love that big wheel jack, that thing looks like it could handle the trails by itself, if it had a engine. As far as your *Torque Wrench* Get a 3/4 inch torque wrench.They are longer and better set up for those high torque numbers. Just understand you will need a 3/4 to 1/2 inch adapter so your 1/2 inch sockets fit the 3/4 wrench. And along with that, I would just get a 3/4 inch socket that fits your lug nuts, since that might be the highest torque setting you ever use. So yea, thats my advice... Thanks for this video Chloe, you always have very informative content. P.S. I see some comments on here saying to get a breaker bar to loosen the lug nuts... That is correct. You never want to use a torque wrench to loosen any bolt/nut. A Torque wrench is for tightening only ... And I would look into getting a *inch pound* torque wrench as well. Because the bigger foot pound wrenches only go so low, and most are inaccurate at low settings. A inch pound wrench is more accurate for those lower torque numbers.

    • @jonkirkwood469
      @jonkirkwood469 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I half expected to see a gap in the socket set teeth.

    Little skinny people have a hard time breaking big bolts, just a fact of life. But you’re using the wrong type of impact drill-> that’s an impact driver, what you need is an impact wrench, then you will never need a breaker bar.
    - Snap-On torque wrench = the Gucci-est of torque wrenches.

  • @mattlewandowski73
    @mattlewandowski73 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Snap-On are over priced for what you get... YES they are premium quality, but truth be told you can get similar quality for a LOT cheaper... That said... It is your money... If you are a pro mechanic or tool lover and want the brand recognition that goes with a display of Snap-On tools in your garage or workspace, go for it. Personally I try to collect older craftsman tools even though Sears went defunct, and now with Lowes owning the brand there is not the diversity of craftsman tools available, so the warranty is no longer as good as it once was. So I am not knocking Snap-On fans for their love of the brand, just knocking the brand for its markup.

      I literally was just browsing at snap-on tool chest/carts. Holy sh*t! You can buy a whole Corolla for 2 of the bigger carts.
      As a DIY person, I went with craftsman and gear wrench hand tools. So far so good with my weekends in the garage. I have to admit I'm impress with harbor freight's Pittsburgh ratchets. Since they are life time warranty, I just beat them up and even use them when I should be using a breaker bar. Slip on a cheater bar and banged on them to break rusted bolts off here in the northeast.
