The last part of what he says is the reason why he's struggling. He says he needs to improve in his decision-making and not be too aggressive. The "not be too aggressive" part is the issue. You want to remain aggressive, you just got to make better decisions. But the way he looks at it, his aggressiveness is what's making him make poor decisions. So he feels if he's not as aggressive he would protect the football better. But ultimately it makes him play extremely conservatively and second guess himself which is why it's so hard for him to get up out of this funk
Last year Arthur Smith had to shrink the playbook, run the ball and try to grind out wins just like we did last night. He had to hedge against how bad Ridder was. The Falcons literally had to do the same thing yesterday. They were afraid to let Kirk throw the ball, and it was obvious. This is behind a great O line and honestly pretty elite weapons. He is trash in an optimal situation. He is the definition of washed.

Falcons don't want to destroy Kirk's trade value so they want him to play his way out of the slump so that he can pick which team he wants to go to next year in a trade. But if they move from him now then Kirk will have no trade value and it will be a bigger dead cap hit for the Falcons. Look at how well the Vikings are playing without him.

Kirk won’t accept being made the backup gracefully. They didn’t even tell him they were drafting a QB in the first round so he thought he had security. Also the FO won’t likely bench someone making 45M a year with 100M fully guaranteed unless they play like Levis did
Kirk's arm is weaker, his speed is slower, his processing is slower, his body can't hold up in play action so the team does not call it. These are limitations caused by the age and the injury and not a normal slump you can play out of .
