- Landscape photography and telephoto lenses aren't two things that typically go together, yet I continue to fill my portfolio far quicker with telephoto landscapes than I do with wide-angle scenes.
In this video, I cover seven of my favorite tips for taking better telephoto landscape photos. Whether you've yet to pick up a telephoto lens or you occasionally use one to capture tight scenes, this video will help you take your telephoto landscape photography to the next level.
0:00 - Introduction
1:07 - Reduce Clutter in the Scene
2:28 - Watch the Edges
3:05 - Follow the Light
5:09 - Negative Space
6:48 - Understand Compression
8:18 - Leading Lines
9:04 - Adding Depth
9:58 - Final Thoughts
Have you tried shooting telephoto landscapes yet? If so, what lens do you use?
I have a new Sony 200-600 that I need to get out and play with. Great tips by the way!
Austin, always enjoy your videos. I look forward to joining you on a workshop some day.
Thanks Jim! I’d love to have you out. I just opened one more workshop this fall that I haven’t yet released to the public, if you wanted to check it out!!
I've been thinking about buying a Canon eos 250d with a 75-300mm. It's the perfect dslr for a beginner that never used an aps-c sensor .but I used my cousin's nikon b500. It's a pretty good camera but it does not have manual mode available which is the only downside of it. oh and nice video again that I got really helpful tips from you 💪
Go for it! Thanks for checking the video out!
