    That cut back to Mission Control with Carrie's "grabby-grab and flippy-turn" chatter was hilarious.

    Edit addition: The Carrie cut to control at 25:21 was out of this world. (Especially with the radio static over comms, a stellar attention to detail)

    "How are our new space station engineers doing?" - "Well, in a span of 20 minutes they've broken off one of the levers, awkwardly wiggled in place hoping it would propel them forwards, gotten stuck in a door on the way through and vented out all the oxygen inside the station through the airlock." - "Huh. Well, that somehow still makes them the best engineers we ever had"

    I felt in my soul "I hate left and right as a concept". I'm with you Carrie, I never could tell left/right until I was like 25 after like three years of practicing tai chi, making a fool of myself and slowly reorienting. Being told again and again as child "right is the side of the hand with which you write" permanently crosswired my brain, because, you know, I was a leftie.

      I only even halfway got the hang of it because someone pointed out to kid-me that if you hold your left hand flat in front of you and move your thumb down to the side you get a capital L. I still have to stop and check from time to time. 😅

    Carrie, the cut away to Mission Control was brilliant

  • @the6ofdiamonds
    @the6ofdiamonds ปีที่แล้ว +14

    I don't know what's funnier:
    Carrie shutting the door on herself, because she didn't grab stuff... shortly after saying that grabbing things was a bad idea.
    Dan not understanding how an airlock works and venting the station in spite of alarm bells.

    With Newtonian physics you would not be able to propel yourself even slightly with midair kicks, and also air resistance would mean you lose velocity, so it would be quite possible to become stranded in the centre of the station inable to reach any walls.
    This is a real thing, fortunately astronauts are never alone on a spaceship so they can just yell for someone else to pull them to the side again if they get stuck.
    Also throwing something would propel you in the opposite direction.

  • @comicalbanana
    @comicalbanana ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Me and my friend 100% completed this game on Newtonian mode over a weekend, and I feel like we came out of it like people who've been out at sea for a little too long. Whatever scraps of humanity we had going in did not survive the journey.

    To quote a famous European dance song: "Danger and dance, clapping the hands, when we out in the space."
    13:30: Anyone else remember Tacoma?
    22:10: Fun fact-in real life, there would be a brief breeze, but no sustained suction. There just isn't enough air in the capsule for this dramatic vacuum effect to work like that.
    35:10: Hear that? Carrie likes space better than Earth. She must be adjusting well to her astronaut duties!

    • @rmsgrey
      @rmsgrey ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Luckily (?) the space station appears to have a highly efficient air-generator somewhere that replenishes the non-airlock atmosphere as fast as it can blast into space.
      Of course, in real life, that would also be blasting the station into a new orbit...

    Wish you played this on PS5, this is one of the few games that actually takes advantage of the Dualsense. Speaking of the PS5, Dan, think you could stream Astro's Playroom at some point? The game is a lot of fun for a game bundled with the console.

    • @timothymclean
      @timothymclean ปีที่แล้ว

      How does it use the Dualsense? Also, what's with the Dualsense? I read a bit of marketing BS talking about haptic feedback as though it were something innovative and not something cheap phones have too, and that evaporated any interest I had in researching that chunk of plastic.

    • @nirast2561
      @nirast2561 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timothymclean Nah, the Dualsense is actually amazing. The haptics are very precise, and the triggers can be adjusted in a lot of ways to, for instance, make them harder to press, or have them only cause resistance at a certain point. You can get one for PC if you want, since there's a bunch of games that support it and showcase it well, like Ratched and Clank, Returnal, Sackboy and Death Stranding: Director's Cut. Obviously, I can't really recommend getting one for just a few games (especially since there's no generic support for all games, though you can play them through Steam), but you really need to try ro see what it can do.
