I really like that they subverted the common trope of "no phone signal" with the kids running out of minutes on their phones, cutting them off from help, because they come from poor families and all have prepaid phones. It's hard to do lack of communication in modern movies because cellphones are so common. And of course the monster design is fantastic, love those glowing teeth.
I can understand some people being turned off by the gang being protagonists. what pissed me off was movies like Goodfellas have worse characters, doing worse acts, yet never got the same amount of hate as the gang in this movie.
That's because "Goodfellas" is a really good film, this is not.
The movie opens with a defecting Storm Trooper mugging the 13th Doctor
The alien design is chilling. Reminds me of Critters.

Attack The Block is a gem of a film, i saw it on Film 4 a few years ago and i thought it was fantastic, loved it.
A great review again guys, you really are well clued up on you're fan films, particularly some overlooked ones that only fans of the Genre might know or have seen.
Top stuff guys.
Finally internet reviewers that ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING
I can understand where you guys are coming from with regards to the protagonists being bad kids, but I got the impression very early on in the film that there was going to be some sort of redemption for them.
I grew up in a place a lot like this so I think it's possible that my lived experience could be biasing me, as I knew people who were very similar to these kids.
This film is like a blueprint for what Doctor Who with Jodie Whittaker could have been, and what interesting companions she could have taken away with her. The main character, who needed to be shown a better way to live and view his future, his hot sister or whoever she was, and the guy with the injured leg for comic relief.
You nailed it on the head. Im an american and when i first saw this I gave up after the mugging and had to come back to the film later on. I live in Orlando Florida where many people own guns and have concealed licenses but muggings don't happen that often. Street gangs focus on other crimes down here. Btw love these reviews. Keep up the good work!

nah good point they forgot to mention it, it was that the aliens were only chasing after anyone who touched the white one at the beginning because the aliens are just a bunch of randy males, after the white one's female pheromones.

Love the movie - it's creepy and funny and has nailbiting tense scenes and indeed Moses rocks. The whole gang did. I really cared for them, because the filmmaker and the actors achieved something rarely seen in US horror movies - they gave the characters debth. They're not the standard 2 dimensional horror teen cutouts (all together now: THE JOCK, THE GEEK, THE SLUT, THE VIRGIN...) but actual, believable people.
Thus it's so much more scary once you realize, that people get killed.
Another thing I really like here - and find it similar in stuff like Torchwood or Doctor Who - is the "spirit". The movie and the series have (amongst others) the central theme of totally ... "regular people" standing up against horrible shit, not just because "they have too", but because of a sense of responsibility - they might be criminal shits, but now their BLOCK is attacked and they're not going to have it. They stand up for their community.
Also: The Star Wars thing - it really is our little trooper, blimey! And indeed Attack had me thinking "THAT guy knows his job! Great acting talent!"
every movie after this has been awful for John Boyega which is sad since he seems to be able to act pretty well.
i was like 12 when i watched this and still to me the scariest horror movie I've seen, one of my all time favourites.
I uh kept hearing good things about this movie, maybe it reads better if you're from the UK but I could not watch it, I tried very hard. I didnt even realize they were gangers they just talk like they're in the Streets.
