  • Spartan Lunchbox Locker installation in a Dana 30 front axle and a Chrysler 8.25 rear axle with the 29 spline, but 27 spline should be similar. I will be uploading review videos once I have some experience with them.

    I’ve got a 1995 Cherokee SE I’m thinking putting dual LB lockers into, also D30 Front and C8.25 rear, but I think mine is the 27. Pretty new to it all, so this video was super informative, thank you!

      Yes sir, if your's is a 1995 you will have a 27 spline. the 29 spline started late 1996.

    Great video.. you video help me out installing lockers front and back on my 2008 jeep JK while i also installed my 5.13 gears.. the lockers made big difference in off roading. and while driving well now it feels like the jeep want to drive straight and a few clicking when i turn but its not that bad. the only time it does click loud is when im reversing in to a parking that are all perpendicular. it makes a loud cling then its quiet . 500 miles later i changed the gear oil and i check the lockers for any damage since it makes a loud cling most times when i back up and so far noting. they look as good as when i put them on. all tolerance are still in spec as well

    I would have pressure washed everything first and used lube lockers. Over all the video gives you an idea of how easy it is to install these.

    Got these same lockers coming in tomorrow, felt a little intimidated to install them, not anymore! Awesome video! Love how you didn’t waste any time removing every single bolt!!!

      A quick rinse with a power washer would make a nice first step

    I wonder why that SL F8.8-31 # 17005 kit costs $ 582 on the USA Standard Gear Spartan Locker website but only $ 250 on Amazon and eBay? I've got a '92 Ford F-150.

    Hey the only thing wrong with this video is that you didn't show how to do everything all you did was say what you was going to do but didn't show the work I'm so disappointed it's a good video but not a great one

    I normally lay the tire down right behind the axle and thats where I send my caliper that way it cant fall off. Because if you set that caliper on something and it falls off then you're definitely gonna regret it.

      I did it to my 04 WJ. It is freakin amazing! A complete unstoppable beast in deep soft sand, and will climb anything in the mountains so far too. I LOVE them. It’s like you aired down, when you haven’t yet. 100% recommend front and back. Almost No difference really on the street. The Jeep wants to go straight down the road. Cool ratcheting sound at slow speed turns. Occasional bang or loud click when they lock/unlock. But no big deal at all. Especially for the difference they make. They are a huge traction gain. Highly recommend Spartan lockers. Easy to install too! I love them.

    Hey ya dont need to ruin a perfectly good bearing.all you need to do is loose all three rear bolts not remove and proceed with a hammer to bang out bearing loose

    Way you remove the carrier on b30 and you didn’t remove on c8.5 ? Is it Because you can’t remove the pin sun gear is on the way ?

    • @BackyardBuilder513
      @BackyardBuilder513  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The carrier on the D30 is too small to remove the spiders and install the locker without removing the ring gear, so it has to come out.

      The way to install a locker in a Chrysler 8.25 without removing the carrier or ring gear is to GRIND the inside of the ring gear tooth (teeth) just enough to make the center pin pass!!. This is a VERY COMMON thing to do!! Doing it myself right now!!. I truly believe that the companies that build the Ring gears should put a factory slot on these gears! So people doing these installs doesn't ruin a ring gear trying to grind them!!. I came here to see if there was a trick to installing the C-Clips without removing the locker after its installed!. I pulled the center pin and hope I can wiggle the C-clips in under the ring gear side(drivers side). Also the directions don't have ANYTHING about the process of installing the C-clips during the locker install!!!. After paying $650 to have my axles setup (Backlash and Preloads). Now I might have to remove the carrier to install the C-clips and ruin the setup I just paid for!?!?!?. Wish me luck!!.

      Just finished up my Rearend bout 2 hours ago. Went great!. Just remember to put the C-Clips in BEFORE putting In the entire locker!! Wish I would have videoed it, But I'm old school and work instead of film!!. Sorry.
