Useful intro to most aspects of domino. One aspect that needs more coverage is cutting a mortise while using the sight line - i.e. not one of the "stops". I found it difficult to consistently center the mortise across the line marked in workpiece. So I am not sure if the machine cuts a consistently centered mortise or not. If this situation truly requires the enlarged mortise size, Festool should indicate that. Or perhaps it the sideways motion of the bit that can offset your mortise unless you can hold it like a rock.
OK I stand corrected on a couple of items 1. The bit does seem to center perfectly, PROVIDED you use one of those corner index tabs. 2. In the brief "This Old House" video on the Domino 500, Festool does recommend using wider mortises when cutting to a pencil mark (i.e. not index tab). For best cutting to an index line, you need to clamp the workpiece securely. Easier said than done in some situations. ps - registering your tool for the warrantee is amazingly complicated - Festool even insists on an image of your original invoice
registered 3 tools in a matter of 5 minutes on their site...was the opposite of complicated in my experience. Invoice is an annoying step but a quick screenshot of your order email is sufficient
There are A TON of videos out there that talk about the Festool Domino. This is more of an overview obviously, but it gives you a good idea. You can watch the videos by Peter Parfit or Half Inch Shy and you'll get a better idea. The Domino is a unlike any other tool on the market and it's gonna be that way for awhile because Festool owns a patent on it so there won't be any knock offs for awhile. I think the product came out in 2007...which means they probably filed for the patent in 2005ish...so it's gonna be a minimum of 7-10 more years before the cheap knock offs start coming out.
Just got my Domino today! So excited. This was helpful.

I just bought ordered yesterday with a Wood tenon assortment set. Looking forward to receiving it and experimenting. Also, very excited too. Yay me! 😂
A festool branded pencil- what does one of those cost? Come with it's own systainer? 😁
Hubby loves it :)
Thanks for the music, but ….. A verbal explanation would be much better.
Yeah so many videos are like this. Just goes to show you that bad ideas are the norm now.
I kept waiting for Michael Stipe to start singing an upbeat version of 'Losing My Religion'.
A blog with images and description would be great as alternative to this fast video.
Just check the supplemental manual on their website, that's what it is
GREAT INSTRUCTIONS!! :-D
At 9:58 the 8mm and 10 mm bits are mixed up
Thought I was the only one who noticed. LOL
Sometime words go a long way with a video.
Ahhh Festool in 2014......Wish I could go back to then. this music takes me back thatts for sure. company was better then

Love the music.
Bello Festool Domino DF 500..vorrei sapere se l'aspirapolvere rientra nella spesa gratis
Background music sounds like a intro to a America song.
Boa noite como Poso comprala
Anyone trying to figure out how to mount the Domino Jointer to a table for repeatable production use?
Video has the 8 and 10mm bits switched.
8mm and 10mm cutters swapped at the end
The music to me means I don’t have to watch some dude talking 80% of the time, cuts out the bs. Plus I didn’t listen to it, volume off.
I want the domino so bad, trying to justify the $1k cost.
Why text. Can't see my monitor across the shop and follow along. Drives me insane !! And from Festool no less :(. Rant over love the domino
indonesia carpenter need this
Easy there!!! Slow it down!
This stinks, fire the noise and let the man speak, the guitars are just lousy and do nothing to tell you a thing about the Festool....

Festool decrease its price let world use your invention and earn virtues, money will not last long moment your eye closes, virtues will.
Really bad video really hard to read and watch at same time the timing is off
Maffel Ddf40 is a much better machine.
both are german craps, but I wonder why did you buy festool at the end of 2020 if muffle is better one
