  • The Festool Domino Connector system for the DF500 (KV Sys-8) are actually very easy to install, once you understand them. In this video I explain you how simple it is to install them and when to use them.

Greetings from USA, Detroit, Michigan area! Thank you for this terrific video… very well explained. My son and I are amateur woodworkers (in our garage) and I just purchased my first Festool item: the Domino (smaller machine). I’m still getting used to actually using it and not making so many miscalculations. But learning is part of the whole idea with woodworking. P.S., I also watched your recent video with the giant Walnut planks, and you turning it into a top for a table. Wow, that router flattening work got me exhausted just watching you do it. Turned out really very sharp! Thanks and have a great day!

      Hey Rick,
That sounds great! Woodworking with your son must be awesome. I can't wait to involve my kids more into the workshop. Up to this point they show quite some interest.
Yeah getting started with a new tool takes some time. But as soon as you are up to it, the Domino will be one of your favorite tools for sure.
You might want to check out my other video about the 5 Tricks for the Domino 😉
Thanks but flattening the slabs looks some exhausting than it is. Actually it's great fun (besides cleaning all that dust...)
Hope you are having a great day, too. Greetings to Michigan 🤗

Good video, I use the D8 and D14 connectors often and they are very good. The more you use the Domino machine, the more uses you find.

I recently used 4 connectors to attach the top half of a wardrobe (also used 6mm dominos, 6 total). Stock was 18mm plywood and I tried my Seneca Domiplate and it worked great.

    gracias

Good explanation of the Festool domino connector system. I have been looking at this connector system for a while for the cabinets I make. You have made it much easier to understand the different ways it can work. Thank you!

Best explanation of the connectors and system I've seen yet. Great job. Was wondering if it's possible to put those connectors on the outside of the cabinet? For the bottom it would allow them to be hidden. Thanks!

      Thanks Hanker! Great to hear.
For sure, I don't see an ossue with placing them to the outside (other than accesibility).

  • @tundrawhisperer4821

Thank you for the video. These only seem reasonable to use if you have to take cabinetry apart it appears. Very expensive to just join everyday cabinets together with.

Im assuming these would be used for later knockdown only....otherwise what exactly would be the purpose? Great video.

Excellent and concise explanation of the system. The official Festool USA videos are done mostly by Sedge. He's a great cheerleader for Festool, and his quick "I hope that helps" tips are great. But he really struggles to explain full systems clearly ... it ends up getting way too long and confusing.

Q: is the bigger Dimino a better option if I want to make cabinets, and large furniture?
Meaning can I use the smaller bits, joinery, connectors, etc.. with the larger Domino?

    • @getdirecti0ns
      @getdirecti0ns 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

The DF500 (smaller domino) is more than capable for most cabinet making and furniture. You can get an adapter to use all the DF500 cutters on the DF700 (larger Domino), Seneca Cutter Adapter I believe its called. The DF700 is ideal for making really large furniture connections at the cost of being much heavier and bulkier to use for smaller stuff. Hope that helps

      Sollte eigentlich schon gehen
Ich muss lediglich ein ziemlich starkes Material nehmen, damit meine Verbinder an der Seite nicht raus schauen. Und mein Loch kann ich nicht mehr mit der Schablone bohren.
Aber sonst sollte das eigentlich funktionieren.

Far too complicated, too expensive, and totally unnecessary. There are far easier, quicker, and much more efficient methods. Good advertising strategies and gimmicky for non professionals with big bucks.
