I have an amusing anecdote about THL. It was late 1980 and they'd come out to Australia for a tour. I was standing in a record store in town looking through the bins when he and the blonde walked in. He was all over her like a lovesick puppy but she wasn't having any of it. Felt really sorry for him.
I attended one of the Steel City gigs in 2008 and I was disappointed by the lack of collaboration between the three acts ABC, H17 and the League. They played their sets and left, that was it. What a wasted opportunity for creative collaboration. It's a shame that most pop acts don't have the will to work flexibly with each other, such as happens all the time in jazz, blues, folk and other genres. Remember FFS, the collaboration between Sparks & Franz Ferdinand? That's what should have happened on the Steel City tour.
