I have an amusing anecdote about THL. It was late 1980 and they'd come out to Australia for a tour. I was standing in a record store in town looking through the bins when he and the blonde walked in. He was all over her like a lovesick puppy but she wasn't having any of it. Felt really sorry for him.

I remember John Foxx sort of dropped out of music and became the world's most prolific producer of images used for public domain for a number of years, or something like that. I guess that is no longer the case though. At any rate, after Ultravox! Foxx had a very successful graphic arts career.

I strongly disagree with Gary about Ultravox with Midge I thought both versions were excellent

I attended one of the Steel City gigs in 2008 and I was disappointed by the lack of collaboration between the three acts ABC, H17 and the League. They played their sets and left, that was it. What a wasted opportunity for creative collaboration. It's a shame that most pop acts don't have the will to work flexibly with each other, such as happens all the time in jazz, blues, folk and other genres. Remember FFS, the collaboration between Sparks & Franz Ferdinand? That's what should have happened on the Steel City tour.

I think Ultravox!'s look/presentation was fine, just a few years too early. They broke up just before the mainstream was ready for their music/look.

John Foxx's Ultravox! were brilliant. Such great albums. Gary was genius until after 81. Foxx's Metamatic is a seminal electronic album. How i miss those amazing days of my youth and hearing some of the most exciting and creative electronic music. There has been nothing like it since. I feel privileged to have been there to witness it and live it at its peak.
