Dude you Rock! I would drive 100 miles to have you do my repairs! Having the right tools and knowing how to use them is key, I see pride in what you do!
Young man i reallly like your work i wonder on a older car like a 1985 ae86 welding a quarter panel would it be challenging for a man in your profession
I use harbor freight self tappers like a disposable item. Saves a lot of time on my restoration. I also bought some 8mm spot weld drill bits that have been fantastic. I was going through belts like crazy. But also, I’m trying to refit original panels in mostly, so that’s a bit different than your daily routine.
Really enjoy your videos. The editing is always on point. What is the timeframe for doing something like this? How many hours does it take? Do you work on only one project at a time?
Something like this takes a solid 20 hours of working time from start to finish and mostly one big one like this at a time with multiple other small to medium jobs
I normally start off with a cut off wheel and a thick grinding disc. I've done a video on this called "finishing c-pillar joint like a pro" should check it out !!
The hockey puck being rubber, does it cause less damage vs a metal dolly when working a flange over like that? How does energy transfer differ from the two? Noob question from an apprentice lol
the hockey puck is just the perfect hardness where as the metal dolly could create some damage because of the hard metal edges(no give). alternatively a metal dolly with a few strips of masking tape will also do. I will be doing a video on how to correct small damage or waves when doing a hemmed flanged in the future. stay tuned!
wow yea 13 seems like a lot. it really depends on the damage but if its just the quarter panel thats being replaced, I couldn't see it being over $8000 max
what structural adhesive do you use? seems like that would be excellent to keep water out of the wheel arch after the spot welds ... does the adhesive interfere with the welding at all?
The structural adhesive is SEMs structural adhesive and no problems with spot welding. I actually think it welds even nicer with it.. I actually used SEMs 1 part sealant here but they have an anti flutter. I believe it's called expanding urethane foam. It's a 2-part product.
glaze over weld though? are you 100% sure there's not a single microscopic hole anywhere in the joint weld? cause glaze ain't water proof, and moisture goes under that it'll pop the putty off. that's why everyone including me, i know does thin skim of fibreglass to seal, then mud to finish.

I think it would be quite similar. The metal thickness may be a little different though

Beautiful work. No need to apply filler after that pneumatic hamming tool?
Nope! There's a bit of a learning curve for it, but once you get the hang of it. You'll never go back to doing it by hand, haha
Nicely done!
welldone mate, how much is that spot welding, thanks
Thanks! Too much around 8k I believe
Great work!
lastly...what do you think is the quickest way to grind down Mig welds such as the very top of your 1/4 install?
I normally start off with a cut off wheel and a thick grinding disc. I've done a video on this called "finishing c-pillar joint like a pro"
should check it out !!
will do, thx@@AUTOBODYTECH

hey phil, its vk lol. Love your channel bro keep it up.
Thanks yo!! Appreciate it!
How did you know the 3 sectioning locations at about 3:45?
@@kennyscott1996 alldata has the oem procedure
❤👍What’s that step near the end with the can and tube you put in the holes?
It's cavity wax and a 360 wand. It's for corrosion protection
How many hours does a job like this pay? If you don't mind me asking.
A typical quarter panel replacement pays about 14 - 18 hours
what structural adhesive do you use? seems like that would be excellent to keep water out of the wheel arch after the spot welds ... does the adhesive interfere with the welding at all?
and what is the anti-flutter brand?
The structural adhesive is SEMs structural adhesive and no problems with spot welding. I actually think it welds even nicer with it..

You guys need to invest in a door hanging tool make’s like much easier 😂
.....so the new panel has the bent edges and the air hammer tool crimps that panel edge? Is this correct?
@megatonesilva6546 yes only around the wheelhouse area. Some other manufacturers don't do it like this
Where do you get that triangular axle holder ?
From our local supplier. It's called a wheel hub stand
❤Thanks for sharing very great vid… I’m new to the game lol, new sub also
Welcome!
What are your thoughts about using silicon bronze when welding seams ??
I've never tried but have been very curious! I heard it's really good. What are your thoughts/experience?

I hear what you're saying, but if there is a pin hole in the weld, even fiberglass will not save it
How much was this repair?
around 7000$
Such a magnificent job and yet all the exposed joints are ready to rust in no time...sh.t
What a rip off! Those damages could have been buffed out lol. Seriously tho, that a sold job
