    When I set out to design and build this outdoor bar, I knew I wanted durable materials that would stand up to the outdoor elements. I combined concrete for the bar top with corrugated metal and cedar for the base. The end result is a great looking outdoor bar with lots of storage for drinks and food to keep your outdoor gatherings going!
    All of the materials and tools I used for the projects are linked below!
    This project is sponsored by my friends at The Home Depot. From versatile buying options, tool rentals, and thousands of how-to videos, The Home Depot has the tool and materials you need to keep building and get more done.
    Thank you so much for watching & I hope you enjoy the project!

    That is a solid outdoor bar. That concrete top was probably a bear to put on. I never would have thought of using melamine as a form. Thanks for sharing Mr. Mike, and take care.

    • @WoodshopMike
      @WoodshopMike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much Timothy! The countertop was heavy. We got it on top with two people, but a third would have made the process much easier.
      The melamine did great! This was my first time using this method and it seemed pretty fool proof.

    Cabinet saw, 20" planer, 8 inch jointer, $500 miter saw. But somehow you an make this "without owning all the tools".
    But hey, at least you showed renting the concrete mixer from your sponsor.

    • @freeq1829
      @freeq1829 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could get by using a circular saw with a guide like framing square or tablesaw to make these cuts. And a wheelbarrow or bucket or tote to mix the concrete. The planer is something I dont have but is useful. You could hand sand or get a hand planer of course too

    The bar is awesome, and the video is a huge help in showing how it all comes together. Do you have any suggestions for an alternate top? Would a butcher block top work on a bar like this that's meant to be outside?

    • @WoodshopMike
      @WoodshopMike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much! I would avoid butcher block, it will almost certainly delaminate as they're typically manufactured with the intent of being used indoors. If you wanted a wood top, just use cedar or cypress planks. You could used PT pine for the entire project too I suppose.

    Does the galvanized steel/metal get hot in the sun? Is there a product that I could spray on it so it doesn't get hot to the touch? Like rubberized truck bed liner spray?

    • @WoodshopMike
      @WoodshopMike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Metal will certainly get hot in the summer, but then again so will the concrete countertop. Ours is setup at an outdoor area fairly close to a tree line, so even though we're in Georgia, it's never been too hot to eat/serve at.

      Roughly $400 if you also use cedar. If you wanted to save a bit you can get away with pine, but you'll want to use pressure treated or southern yellow and make sure to finish it well.
