Secondly, just... damn. When I watched this I was too young to recognize the cinematography and planning put into this. Using the natural scenery within the game to emphasize impact and create more story elements was just genius. It's just something fun and such a hidden gem to all. I can't believe I managed to find this again

I distinctly remember being amazed at how most of that could even be done on the VFX side. It's still amazingly well done, but I do these kinds of visual effects all the time now. Especially after working on Red vs Blue for a season.

Over 10 years and I still love this.
No idea what spurred me to look this up-- watched this back in Elementary school religiously at my friend's house.
Didn't have access to a PC at home so we'd just hang out at his and watch youtube all the time; we'd always watch this one at least once.
I'm in college now, just about finished with my Associate's. This was probably just a silly little project, but it secured a special place in my heart.
I said this a few years ago and I'll say it again, this video is a master piece in terms of editing... the ending is dumb though, you make this big build up with Marios team dominating the entire video only to make him lose the same dumb way he did the first time.

This came to mind today while I was listening to the song "Entering the Stronghold" after going through my old Zune. This is still a really impressive video and I love watching it.
It's nice thinking back on the filming sessions. Being a body actor / puppet might not be the most impressive role, but I loved helping skilled creators make their visions come to life. I miss doing it sometimes. The Halo machinima community was really great while it lasted.

@@kroaat oh gosh no, we dropped out of contact years ago. After Reach came out, most of us in halo machinima were busy with work or college, so we all just kind of started to prioritize life. We still made time to play or make amateur films, but the glory days of Halo machinima were with halo 2 and 3.
I can't speak for everyone of course, but the people I knew the most just kind of faded away as life took priority.

I still remember that the first thing I ever saw of Halo was someone showing how to make the elephants on Sandtrap fly around with quick spawning fusion coils and plasma batteries.
