I got a free 21’5 inch iMac from 2011 from my school, works great and using it as my main machine. The only pain was updating it from snow leopard to high sierra but it’s working great now!
about that imac... the screen power connectors actually dont matter which way they are connected... i connected mine backwards and my screen still worked!
3:14 dude! Don’t take such filthy computers indoors! Give it a dusting outside first, at the least. Then a wipe with isopropyl alcohol. You have no idea where that thing has been…or what things have been on top of it 😂
@@frokfrdk probably SSD is not the thing you can cheap out. You can buy cheapo 128GB (probably 20 dollar) but should not used one. you can cheap out at the CPU but it should be the 45nm Core 2 Duo. You can look up for CPU upgrade for iMac 2007 online

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro With Touch Bar I use as my main laptop
The whole fun of fixing these machines is to clean them out, replace the thermal compound, give it an SSD and max the ram. :(
I kept it at $0 to resell for pure profit (I only got $50 for it)

On the 07 model if you change cpu to a t9300 or t9500 you can upgrades the OS to catalina or big sur

@@frokfrdk also upgrade the drive to SSD. It can give the machine speed boost. The RAM you can go 8GB but it is expensive for DDR2
