Sagara actually offered many good Indonesian (local) leather, I owned two of them, and both patinaed very well...I also own a Sagara's Shinki-leathered boot, and while the looks and quality are indeed rather superior, but not that much....for your next order, maybe you can consult them more thoroughly to find out the best local leather for you...Nice review anyway....
I got a pair from them using Badalassi leather and I was extremely impressed with them. I'd say go for something using a well known tanery and you won't be disappointed.
Ok even at $400 for a USA leather still isn’t bad I guess for an MTO and being hand welted. Truman are very good boots in about the same price range but they aren’t MTO and hand welted.
