@lyshaboy4 thanks for the interest. The idea was based on a tutorial on videocopilot. I used the textures you can download there. Basically I modeled the crater shape using the downloaded texture as a guide. I applied the texture to the ground plane with an alpha channel to blend the geometry into the scene. The details are hard to explain here. if your still interested maybe I can send the project file somehow. The shot was tracked with boujou and imported into blender 2.49 with a script.
@adeganlight1 Hey thanks for replying!! I got the camera solve into blender, but after that as far as render and world settings im lost. It tracks really good in the cam view but once i try to edit in the compositor it seems to not be animated with the motion track. I must be missing somthin.
@lyshaboy4 I don't know what you mean by the compositor, but I'm working on a tutorial for this topic that I'll post in a little while. It should refresh my memory on how to do this effect (since I'm using it in a recent project) and answer your questions.

i use blener as well, could you give some help with the actual modeling and texturing of the whole itself
