  • If the chicken I don't eat is either way going to be killed and eaten by someone else, why bother being Vegan at all?
    An interesting conversation I had with a student at IIT Madras.

      There are TWO reasons why vegans comprise a fraction of one percent of the population:
      The main reason is due to humans’ failure to care about what they put into their own bodies - as long as it tastes good, who gives a damn about the consequences to one’s own health, or to the ethical concerns regarding other creatures or the environment?
      The other reason is due to vegan advocates and animal rights activists being inept in their understanding of morality, as well as their abysmal grasp of human physiology. Almost every single vegan activist I know of, wrongly believes that we are omnivores, and they are CLUELESS in respect to metaethics and applied ethics.
      However, this is not the most unfortunate thing about the matter. The saddest thing is, that there is hardly a single vegan activist willing to spend even a single hour or so, in order to study proper diet and meta-ethics with the current World Teacher Himself, Jagadguru Svāmī Vegānanda, despite him freely offering to do so on his social media platforms. 😩

      The fact that he repeatedly asserts that “humans are animals”, shows what an abject hypocrite is that MURDEROUS sinner. 😩
      Furthermore, it is debatable whether Ed is truly vegan in his outlook, since he recently stated on the national television programme, GBNews, that he believes we ought NOT ban animal agriculture!

    I think she was taken aback when Arvind directly said that we'd stop the farm animals from being born. It was too straightforward and harsh. The conversation would have turned out better if he had built up to that point instead of dropping it so abruptly. While I agree with him 100% and understand his reasoning, the conversation almost felt like an argument about anti-natalism. It was hard for her to digest the idea of no more chickens, cows, or pigs. She also mentioned adopting farm animals, which is a common practice among many animal and vegan sanctuaries. He could have highlighted that as well.
    PS: This is just a feedback. I'm super proud of Arvind and grateful for what he does.

    • @MrGeekUSA
      @MrGeekUSA 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Stating that - under certain circumstances - non-existence is preferable to existence - is not anti-natalism but simply common sense. For example, in the case of a child that is physically and mentally abused and then murdered, surely no one believes it is "better" that this child existed (even if it experienced some periods of happiness during its life)

    • @vegangojo
      @vegangojo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@MrGeekUSA I don't disagree with what you said. I say his argument seemed anti-natalistic because he subscribes to extinction, which is the end goal of anti-natalism.
      More importantly, it needs to be looked at from a conversational perspective, not as an individual statement.
      She: "What if the animals go extinct?"
      Him: "Let them be extinct; because ..."
      Regardless of the reason, he’s essentially saying: I ask you to have compassion and empathy for the animals and stop eating them so that their entire species will be eradicated from the face of the earth.
      It's not remotely appealing, to say the least. As a vegan (and an optimist?), I personally am not okay with extinction. Let's say that in the future, with the concerted efforts of vegans and vegan allies, evolved consciousness, and food innovation such as lab-grown meat, animal agriculture declines, and so does breeding. Do you think a vegan world, with its compassion for non-human animals, would let these species go extinct?
      There are sanctuaries right now that support farm animals. As she herself noted, people could adopt them. Maybe one day we'll have chickens, pigs, or cows as mainstream companion animals like dogs or cats.
      All of this is to say, extinction might not even be a reality, so why even say it? Especially since it’s not helping the conversation.
      From her introduction, I could see she was aligned with the vegan message. All she wanted was a little hope or assurance that her being vegan matters and helps these poor animals. I'm not sure if this conversation particularly helped with that.
      It's not just about facts or "common sense". People are not mere rational machines. Assuming otherwise shows a lack of empathy.
      How could it have turned out better?
      For starters, don't play into the "farm animals would be wiped out with veganism" trope.
      One of the stronger arguments, in my opinion, would be to highlight that animal agriculture is a leading cause of deforestation, resulting in habitat loss and accelerating the mass extinction of wild animals.

    Humans when they began in jungle before arrival of agriculture, had meat of animals as an integral part of human diet. Sometimes even killing of animals was important for safety of the community also. I wonder if the teeth and the body of our ancestors were evolved to process meat then.
    Now, after having knowledge to grow food and preserve them over long duration, our dependence on animals should have been reduced. Our teeth are very different from the meat eating animals and closer to the herbivores. And we can't tolerate excess acid in our stomach. So these indicate our bodies have changed to process mostly plant based diet.
    Now many young body builders choose to have that ancestral ancient diet of meat to get big.. but you may notice that as these people approach 50s they tend to acquire heart diseases, and they loose vitality. Their flexibility is low. That's mostly due to ingestion of animal cholesterol that sits over and above the natural cholesterol of human body. It clogs most arteries that nourish various tissues on our body. Arnold Schwarzenegger had heart surgeries, many body builders had heart attack. So being big is not healthy. There is no purpose of being big, if you need 10 people to carry you to the hospital every now and then because of your ailments.
    Still choosing to grow big on a plant based diet will be a better option as it has very less side effects.

    Hey buddy, I have a good suggestion: hit the gym, continue your vegan diet, build some muscle, look good, and you'll observe an impactful change. You can promote and prove that you can build muscle and a body even with vegan food. Nowadays, youth are more concerned with body and fitness strength, and I want you to be an example. And if you manage to build noticeable muscle and a good physique, I'll honestly try to turn vegan... and I'll convince my friends to turn vegan too..

    While stopping consumption stops further breeding, The existing living animals need not be killed or made extinct. They can just be driven out of our homes, meat factories, farms and not to bother them.. Then they're on their own. They just live like any other non domesticated animal.

    The important thing is mass production of animal flesh to reduce cost of it.
    Because of this, cost of a non veg meal is able to equate with a veg meal.
    And the non availability of reasonable priced veg food in the cities creates a whole impact on the society, and this food habit changes we take it to our homes in village and from there things get normalised.
    Best way is to make available veg food for 10 or 20 rupees first with subsidies if necessary.
    Then make the behavioural change in the society, anyways society loves low cost reasonable price, this cut the demand for non veg food thus can reduce slaughter !
    So first thing to do ..
    20 rupees meal a day..
    20 rupees dinner a day..
    With no parcel service..!

    Nobodys seeing the evolution which is happening and we can survive with minimal food very simple food. You dont have to be labelled as something like vegan or endorse their products.
    The problem is non vegetarians and vegetarians can be triggered by vegans at some point thats the only point people are trying to be vegan and making videos and bringing awareness. so that atleast the consumption of animal based will be reduce and the carbon footprint reduces at some level.
    Its on our mind that we have registered the taste in a memory and trying to repeat and get the pleasure of eating specific food.
    We can understand this and eat simple food by not thinking about the images of the foods which brought us pleasure.
    Once we realize the simplicity we will eat upma, fresh fruits , some vegetables and kichdi and we will stop complaining about home made simple foods. Thats enough for the body to survive. The mind is what making us choose between foods.

But, as a intelligent human being what you are doing and what is your goal? you see so many living entities daily dies and there is different levels of suffering, we need to understand why suffering exist even to us that is intelligence and if you search for the root cause suffering you will get answers more answers and your thinking may not only stop with animals.

    Sir,
    A cow give 12 -13 liters of milk on an average and a calf can drink at most 2 - 3 liters
    So, If a person is selling the milk after giving the calf his share where is the problem in it????

    • @lachimolalala6180
      @lachimolalala6180 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's not the point here ! Not all cows give this much milk only few breeds I.e indian hump cows give this much and in dairy industry if 12 litter is produced then not even 0.1 litre is given to male calf.thats the problem and btw how will the cow give birth? When u will impregnate her forcefully and u hv no right to do this! That's rape and abuse of nature

    • @lachimolalala6180
      @lachimolalala6180 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If u can make sure that cow and her child is not suffering and the cow is impregnated naturally then u may drink all the milk. No problem man ! Vegans are not stupid they just care about other creatures that why they want every one to change! Vegans are savior of nature❤

    The question should be are animals allowed to live their life and end their life same way humans do.
