Hi, your tutorials are very useful for beginners. I have personally worked with the construction set for Oblivion, and have edited several mods, and still I subscribed to your channel to learn. I look forward to your more advanced tutorials, for example, quests, scripting, animation, etc..
Thank you so much for these tutorials. You have no idea how helpful they are as there are very few resources available just now for people trying to learn the Creation Kit from scratch.
“Pretty much perfect” he said... As the table and bench levitated off the ground. Lol, I’m so thankful for these tutorials. I’ve never made a mod before and am not great with computers, but this outlines the processes in a way that really makes me want to start.
Just thought I should point out: To rotate in specific directions, you want to hold a key. Holding Z, X or Y while rotating with rotate objects on different axis..es..(?), just like holding them will move them along each specific axis. Hope this helps.
Watching/listening to your videos as I play with the creation kit myself. My first mod is a strongbox in Whiterun with 500 gold. Nothing big, but now I'm very excited to mod this game.
I've released 2 mods already. Although they are small. One of them is a Black Market dealer in Whiterun, and already has 33 subscribers and 3 favorites :O steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=432954516
IF anyone is still having problem with saving over files, you need to uncheck the mod in the "Data..." section. Then you mark it, and press "Set as active file" or something similar. (Then the program knows that its that mod you're working on) you know it works when it says [INSERTMODNAMEHERE] next to the windowname (Creation Kit). I found out by browsing the forums on the Nexus. Then it automaticaly saves over the modfile when you press save. :)
Hey again dude, if you want to rotate, the easiest way would be to hit W while the object is selected. It turns on the rotate gizmo which allows you to rotate along all the axis individually.
wassap124, The items are jumping around because you have "Snap-To" mode turned on. This appears as a small icon with a red grid near the upper left of the Creation Kit's window. You can disable Snap-To mode by pressing the 'Q' key on your keyboard while you are working in the preview window. There is a red angle icon to the right of the snap-to icon as well--that's for rotation snapping. These features are primarily to ensure that room tiles line up correctly. =)
Bethesda has got dungeon creation handled. Make another tutorial series. How bout "How to make a companion friendly house mod" Really enjoy your vids, keep up the good work!
Also, you don't have to zoom in closely to make sure something is touching the ground. When you hit the F key, the object will automatically fall to nearest surface below it.
Push W and you can rotate the object around the three axis. Push E to move it linearly. You must push the respective button to deactivate the mode prior to Right Click -> Edit.
@pyyrzi 1.Make two doors in your desirable location 2.Then go into one of their properties and select teleport and tick it 3.Then click the "use render window" (something like that) and slect your other door in the other cell.
For people posting about ugly seams, this is most likely due to your grid snap setting being something other than a multiple of 16, commonly 128. This is fixed by clicking on the page icon in the top left and setting grid snap to the right level.
The Dwemer statues you see in the the dungeons are "static objects" like any other statue. If you want to be able to carry it around, it'd have to be a "misc item." How you go about doing this is, you find the mesh of whatever creature you want to be the statue, and use that on a static/misc object. Now mind you, it's probably gonna be sticking it's arms out Da Vinci style. In order to remedy this, you'd have to make a new mesh, and edit it yourself.
I remember doing some navmeshing for L4D1 using hammer and oh man was it a pain, made some fun survival-esque custom maps though with never ending hordes and stuff.
You don't have to 'Don't Havok Settle' everything, only items you can interact with. Rotating goes by holding x/y/z or x/c/z and rightclicking + dragging.
In the same way the shield will scale from a iron shield to a dragonbone shield the dummy potion will scale up from a regular health potion to a whatever the hell the best health potion is. Like the shield the potion will depend on the players level.
@shebotnov not likely this just gives you an idea of the interface of the ck, The artistic nature comes from the eye of the beholder, this shows you how to bang the hammer not which nails too use
Press F to make the selected object go down to the first collision object, if you hold rubble and press F over the floor, it will automaticly fit with the floor, do this with table and stuff..
you need to create an npc/creature. after creating said npc you need to go to the stats tab. set their health to 0. now you need to tick no low level processing on the left hand side of the character creation. once that box is ticked you are set, place the body where you want it, turn on physics and there's your dead body.
Moss Flame I just had the same issue. You need to go to the Leveled Item tab of the item, and select one of the "Leveled Item Base Object" presets from the drop-down box. For example, if you place a dummy 2H Battleaxe, you'd need to put " Litemweaponbattleaxe " If you want something enchanted, you could use " LitemEnchWeaponBattleAxe " if you put " litem " into the filter, you'll be able to choose from ALL of the leveled item presets.
yeah my dummy items dont appear in the dungeon :'( I went through and made sure to check everything off needed too under leveled item but it refuses to show up, any tips?
With your permission I suggest two things to increase your audience, the first thing is that you use a program for editing tutorials such as Camtasia Studio, the results are spectacular. And the second is to do two sections of your project, tutorials for beginners, and another section for advanced tuoriales. A greeting Tafa100.
I am trying to add NorRmSmWallFrontWin01, the object shown at 2:15, into a dungeon I am creating, but leaves a gap the in the roof when looking at it from the same perspective as the one at 2:!5. Why is that??? I can't for the life of me find out why
Don't know if someone already put this or not. But to add to your "s for size, x for x axis, etc" there are a few more i found w = able to rotate the object on its 0,0 origin x y and (i call it) z e = able to move the object on all axis at the same time or any 2 of your choice v = makes it impossible for you to move any objects without either pressing v again or using z,y,x,e, or w buttons (you use this in case you don't want to accidentally move objects around)
I had the same problem, look on google for: "Creation Kit: Save Mod Issue the engineering guild" They have an empty mod you can duplicate, open and then save.
How do you add a spawn point? When I COC my character into my dungeon he spawns kind of awkwardly in the middle, which is not where I want him to spawn. EDIT: I figured it out. If you go under "All" in the Object Window then search for "COCMarkerHeading" you should be able to drag and drop that into your dungeon.
The dummy shield doesn't appear when I go in game as well. After re-watching the video, the dummy shield doesn't appear through the walk through, either. Only the Deadra shield.
so, i made my dungeon following the instructions from the previous video, and every single piece has an ugly seam with its neighbor, even in game. anyone have any suggestions for fixing/avoiding this problem??
I've added dummy items to my mod, exactly in the way you did in your video. While they show up in the creation kit, as yours do...when I load the mod in the game, the dummy items don't show up. Is anyone else having this problem, or know of a fix?
For some reason, i can't find my dungeon under the cell view. It wasn't anything huge so if i have to remake it i will but i would just like to know what to do to not have this happen again.
Question. At the end of this video you show off the dungeon. The dummy potion appeared, but by all accounts it would appear the dummy shield did not. The daedric shield is the one you were placing on the wall to show off dont havok settle, but no shield ever spawned on the table. did you remove it or did something else happen?
very informative reply. say i want not a dead creature but rather a statue of the creature, like you so often see in dwemmer dungeons, how do i go about that? also for example; lets say i want a small dragon stature on a table, and want the player to be able to pick it up as an item so they can take it to their player home and place it there or fling it around -whatever players do with random loose items- how do i make this work?
Its all abaut illusions like a maze. a maze is a´n illusion with illusions so a maze with illusions in is a great way to let the player do what you wan't
When I save and close the Creation Kit and then come back the next day I cannot find my dungeon shell anywhere! I have ticked the mod in 'Data' under 'file' and its cell isn't there for me to load. Can someone help?
I don't know how to upload to the the nexus (as I'm new to modding myself) but there's a great tutorial called Creating a Playable Race the right way by Expired6978 at the nexus. Don't know if you already knew about that but yeah, it's a great tutorial, unless you prefer youtube videos.
I need a tad bit of help with using CenterOnCell(COC). When I use it, I spawn falling, and then I appear clipped into a table in my dungeon. How can I change the COC location? or whatever other workaround for this would be great.
Is there a way to make a journal or book and add it to your dungeon. Innate a theme to my dungeon, but I feel it would be better explained with a journal. Any help would be appreciated.
BestInSlot I know this is old but would you be able to quickly tell me how to make Dragon taunts play at any point rather than locked to only play at certain quests
The lighting in both my render window and in-game dungeon is not dark at all. just regular room light, like you have in your videos. this is awesome for making the walls, etc. But terrible for making clutter/lighting look Bethesda-worthy. I mean, my in game dungeon isn't even vanilla-dark. what can i do to remedy that?
When i added clutter and checked it in game it was moved (with my spawn point when using the "coc" command) a ways away from the actual dungeon itself. I placed it properly in the actual dungeon in the creation kit itself. Is this a common problem, or did i mess something up. Help would be much appreciated!
@ForAdventure The dummy item dont seem to work for me they dont show up in the dungeon, but they have been placed in the editor, got any idea whats wrong or a solution to this?
Say you want to put a door in at the end of a hallway like a door you go through and it loads and you want it to go to like your house do you put walls beginning your house on the otherwise of that door or what please help or make a vid of how to place your created place in skyrim in the specific area you want it in and how to access places in it with doors
Bro, this video series is over 10 years old and the best one I could find regarding the creation kit. I love it!
lel 4 year old video is still the best one on TH-cam as far as I can tell.
and 4 years later, still true.
@@n3bie And 10 years later total, still true.
Almost 11 years now, still true
This is so much better than the bethesda tutorial
dude you are one of the few people that really are good explainers and you take everything at a great pace, thank you.

Bethesda just put up their video of it. However, you did go over a couple things they didn't, so it was still worth the watch. Thanks mate.

Thanks. I was confused there for a minute.

Where' the dummy shield go?
Push W and you can rotate the object around the three axis. Push E to move it linearly. You must push the respective button to deactivate the mode prior to Right Click -> Edit.
@pyyrzi
1.Make two doors in your desirable location
2.Then go into one of their properties and select teleport and tick it
3.Then click the "use render window" (something like that) and slect your other door in the other cell.
If you wish to rotate Shields or other objects on an axis, you hold your right mouse button while on the object and hold z, x or y.
For people posting about ugly seams, this is most likely due to your grid snap setting being something other than a multiple of 16, commonly 128. This is fixed by clicking on the page icon in the top left and setting grid snap to the right level.
What is the "right level"

@ForAdventure haha, I hope so. I enjoy yours a lot.
Your tutorials are the only ones i can understand lol
Very helpful videos, thanks!
To rotate upwards you hold Z and rotate as normal, this locks the rotation to the Z axis. :)
Great Tutorial series! Thank you.
nice series bro really enjoying it
I remember doing some navmeshing for L4D1 using hammer and oh man was it a pain, made some fun survival-esque custom maps though with never ending hordes and stuff.

I found that if you push E you can move it in any dimetion
I also had a problem where I can't move the object because it created a sphere. If you push W you can rotated the object in any axis
Thank-god i read your comment i could not find this tool hotkey anywhere thank-you!! Now i can finish my mod
glad to help, I'm suppress people are still moding this game lol
I'm modding special edition but it's pretty much the exact same kit, people are making mods everyday on nexus still :)
yea it is but the old one loaded quicker i think
Use the W key to rotate and use the E key to move things up down and side to side.
In the same way the shield will scale from a iron shield to a dragonbone shield the dummy potion will scale up from a regular health potion to a whatever the hell the best health potion is. Like the shield the potion will depend on the players level.
@Samcaudle31 make sure you are selecting the correct one there typically is a snow version and a regular version.
@shebotnov not likely this just gives you an idea of the interface of the ck,

okay thanks for these tut's anyway they are very insightful for beginners like myself
12 year old video and still really good
if you want light and shadows to appear in Creation kit you must tick Toggle lights or Press "a"
I just have one question: for some reason, when I place dummy items, they do not show up in the render window or in game. Any suggestions?
Moss Flame I just had the same issue.
You need to go to the Leveled Item tab of the item, and select one of the "Leveled Item Base Object" presets from the drop-down box. For example, if you place a dummy 2H Battleaxe, you'd need to put " Litemweaponbattleaxe "
If you want something enchanted, you could use " LitemEnchWeaponBattleAxe "
if you put " litem " into the filter, you'll be able to choose from ALL of the leveled item presets.
you said you were gooing too be continuing your blackrain dungeon tutorial i was waiting too see what your next step was,
thanks anyway some good info
yeah my dummy items dont appear in the dungeon :'( I went through and made sure to check everything off needed too under leveled item but it refuses to show up, any tips?
@ForAdventure I'd like to see how to add doors, maybe add a door to where you can go to your dungeon whenever you want.
With your permission I suggest two things to increase your audience, the first thing is that you use a program for editing tutorials such as Camtasia Studio, the results are spectacular.

Thanks! These videos are helping a ton! Rated, Subscribed, and I guess commented now.
have you made sure to press "set as active file"
press "F" while an object is selected to drop it to the height of what ever is below it :)

How do you move items around that smoothly? When i do it, its from square to square, i cant get it as accurate as that.
Hey man i did everything as you did but in the small there was a minor hole around the edges of the roof ;/ how do i fix this ?
@ForAdventure what episode do you intend to add the entrance from outside

you may have just put the floor in. If you go back and replace it with a normal mid tile then the ceiling should be added. good luck.
when will you be making the next video?
Is there a way to add your own static mesh. Because I want to make like a cool very big house.
None of my dummy items are appearing in game, but in the editor their holograms are present, does anyone know how to fix this?
Press and hold (x) then right mouse click so for me its hold(z) hold(x) or hold(c) while right clicking that will rotate the object on
BestInSlot I know this is old but would you be able to quickly tell me how to make Dragon taunts play at any point rather than locked to only play at certain quests

double click on the reference in the dungeon, you should be able to click on a box called "starts dead" or something
When i added clutter and checked it in game it was moved (with my spawn point when using the "coc" command) a ways away from the actual dungeon itself. I placed it properly in the actual dungeon in the creation kit itself. Is this a common problem, or did i mess something up. Help would be much appreciated!
you can press F and the items will snap down to the floor
@ForAdventure The dummy item dont seem to work for me they dont show up in the dungeon, but they have been placed in the editor, got any idea whats wrong or a solution to this?
Where did your dummy shield go while testing ingame?
does the front/side wall thingy have to stay in the same direction for the whole dungeon or can it vary from room to room?
how do i add a chest that the player will be able to store things in?
Say you want to put a door in at the end of a hallway like a door you go through and it loads and you want it to go to like your house do you put walls beginning your house on the otherwise of that door or what please help or make a vid of how to place your created place in skyrim in the specific area you want it in and how to access places in it with doors
Whenever i save my file i cant overwrite the original one, someone has a solution?
I would love if Dark soul has Creation Kit. there would be so many Mimic in the game.
