Thank you for the video - could you in a possible next video also show the cockpit view? In this video you only use third person, and I would never play this way, it is awful. Freelancer also had both views, and I had to look it up on Steam to learn, that this game also supports cockpit first person view...
I still cannot imagine why Microsoft or whoever has the current rights to the Freelancer IP hasn't been willing to do anything at all with it. It's one of the most requested games on GoG and still has yet to be surpassed in terms of pure fun in some ways.
Freelancer was the brain child of Chris Roberts, who I'm sure you know is responsible for Star Citizen. Microsoft actually kind of kicked Chris off the Freelancer project because he was taking too long to finish the game, lol, some things never change.
There's a Freelancer 2 trailer out there that's just a tech demo by a Chris Roberts (feel familiar?) allegedly on the OG Xbox the resulted in the first indication the 360 was coming, and clearly Microsoft Xbox Game Studio was done with him at that point after having to cut down FL1 to release *any* game.
Yes, Chris Roberts most fun game, I would love to see a remake or remaster of this game but modernized too look like everspace 2. Of course with M$ in charge we'd likely never see VR support. 😔
I think all big publishers are just waiting to see if Star Citizen crash and burn or is a big commercial success. If the later, they will be willing to invest hundred of millions of dollars and 10+ years to build this type of game. Maybe even pay millions to CIG to license Star Engine and their procedural tools. This big companies don't like risk and just do things when someone did first and proved the viability.
the problem with these graphics is that they are in the zone where they don't look old enough to be considered a retro look, but they look new old enough to be considered bad. It's a tough place to be.

So, in reality, Star Citizen is turning into Freelancer's *literal* successor. Someone commented this elsewhere, but honestly, these graphics are VERY off-putting. Im excited for the future of this game, which is not something I normally say for Early Access anymore
Dont know why people are hating on the graphics and visuals. The early access info provided on steam clearly states that even though the game is content complete, it HEAVILY lacks polish and finalization. I have no problems supporting passionate devs during early access if the core systems are solid and enjoyable. Theres tons of time during early access to polish and improve the visuals. Just look how much Last Epoch changed from early access to 1.0 in terms of visuals. Literally night and day.
They are hating on it because they are not good graphics. The dev has nailed the freelancer gameplay but it actually looks worse then Freelancer in the graphic department.
While this sort of graphical style can be appreciate by some, it's simply just too basic by today's standards to be considered good in a lot of peoples opinions. With UE5 making it quite easy to make very good looking games, having someone decide to intentionally use this sort of graphic choice absolutely leaves them open to comments about their graphics. While I can appreciate it's unique style, I personally don't think it looks all that great.
It is very unlikely that they developed the game this far, released the early access build and will then port it onto a completely different graphics engine.
Finally the Bloodborne / Freelancer crossover I've been waiting for. On a serious note I've been waiting for this to come out of early access forever. Oddly enough pornography smuggling exists in several countries and it is a underground business.

The rest looks different, more of the same not an improvement. Not a bad thing, looks interesting. Thing that disappointed me about Freelancer was,...
