Jack does a review of the Ninja Blade. Here are the two recipes he used to make the salsa and the smoothies:
    Salsa
    10 cherrie tomatoes
    1 clover section of garlic
    1/4 jalepeno
    small onion
    cilantro
    Smoothie:
    1/2 cup half/half
    1/2 cup whole milk
    1 cup strawberries
    1/2 cup lowfat vanilla yogurt
    2 cups ice cubes

The Ninja is a processor/ The Oster is a blender.
Blenders puree and liquefy, they are horrible choppers

  • @Wizkid490
    @Wizkid490 8 ปีที่แล้ว +28

Let me tell you why this works: The Ninja "Blender" is really more of a food processor, with several large blades that can chop as well as blend. The blender? It needs liquid to pull the food to the small blade. The Ninja takes the blades to the food, like a food processor, and thus works better for chopping.

I love how he throws things in a blender (or like he did the salsa in the magic bullet) and then talks about how it tastes like the blender is going to inject flavor into it somehow. If it tastes bad its your fault not the blender's.

Next, you should compare your toaster to your microwave to see which is better at making toast. How do you have a cooking channel and not know these appliances are meant for different applications?

Yes, the blade design is what makes the Ninja special. It does a great job and does it really fast. With the blades on the bottom only, the stuff near the blades gets pulverized before the top stuff can get cycled down.
I love that just a couple of pulses and you have salsa. If you want it more blended, just give it more pulses.

So, I know I'm coming to the game a bit late with this comment, but...
I see all these people commenting that the ninja is a food prep machine and "not a blender" and that he's comparing apples and oranges, but my take on it is this: The ninja is a multi-purpose tool that includes operation as a blender. Since the ninja blends better than the blender, I think the product review is solid. It shows that the ninja can blend as well or better than a cheap blender, (which is what the initial goal was), and that the ninja can also serve multiple purposes.
The ninja is not a vitamix. It's also not trying to be, and it's 4+ times less expensive, depending on the model. The ninja is not trying to be a juicer, or a comparable product.
As far as I'm concerned, crushing ice is a blender's biggest challenge and my ninjas, and I own like 3.. 1 for work, 2 for home, have all worked for years, and can turn ice into "snow". I've never had one die on me, and I'm hard on them. I'm a fan.

Well for about $40 it appears the Ninja is both processor and blender. So you come out cheaper than a blender and processor separate. that's my take away at least.

@enrikejs That bag at Costco is only $3.50. If you go to a regular supermarket a smaller bag 1/2 of the big bag is also $3.50. You might as well get more for your money. That's my logic. BTW, it is a crapload of tortilla chips.

I've had my Ninja for about 4 months now.It makes a super smooth guacamole, and I use it to make my tuna salad.I throw everything in and let it rip.Another nice feature is the container doubles as a storage container for whats left over. The only limitation I have found was making my own grated parmesan with it,you have to make the cheese into fairly small cubes for it to handle.

What I liked about the Ninja, was that it chopped / diced the salsa ingredients and didn't liquidfy 'em.

I love my Ninja blender set. My brother bought me one for Christmas a few years ago. Also, take the tip from the infomercial and break up the ice first then add in everything else, always going shy on the liquid. IDK what the Ninja does but it liquify really well so you don't need as much liquid in milkshakes etc. O and if your looking for a treat on a hot day, pulse ice to snow in your Ninja them top with syrup for snow cones =)

The better blender leaves a better taste, pretty simple. If the ingredients are not mixed up well enough, takes from the taste of the finished product. And the Ninja looked like it left the blend with a better looking texture, which again effects the eating experience. So I would say this is a pretty good test.

Just a suggestion but you might want to test the Ninja against a food processor in the salsa experiment for a more "fair" test, because blenders are, by their design, used to blend foods together.

I've had two different versions of the Ninja, the two blade and later, three blade and both are fantastic. For better salsa, chop the tomatoes first, then add the minced garlic, onion, cilantro and jalapeno to the mixture. Same for making guacamole. Do the avocado first. I'm probably going to get the New Ninja KS1200, which not only blends and chops, but makes dough and juices for a little over $100.

Every blender I've dealt with always has the same problem as this Oster did. It liquifies everything in the bottom, and leaves the stuff on top relatively unchopped. It's pretty much just basic physics that such will happen with a single set of blades at the bottom. There's nothing to get the already-chopped stuff out of the way so the things on top can fall down, and no pressure pushing them into the blades. The Ninja has those 2 sets of blades and I imagine that makes every bit of difference in the world. Now I really want one even though I pretty much never need to blend anything...
