Likened to Kathleen Ferrier by The Times, the newspaper went on to describe today’s rare contralto voice as ‘stunning… Jess Dandy offered sumptuous tone and beautiful legato. She’s a name to watch.’ Cumbrian born Dandy has been praised for her instrument of velvety plangent timbre, and her artistic maturity of remarkable immediacy. A number of important débuts recently have included performances at the First Night of the BBC Proms, Wigmore Hall recitals and work with a range of the finest conductors.
Jess is co-founder of the mental health initiative, SongPath, which encourages creative and restorative connection on therapeutically curated musical walking trails in beautiful surroundings.

A love of nature and walking in the Lake District has strengthened the special partnership Dandy has with Martin Roscoe, unarguably one of the UK’s finest and most popular pianists.

As the Times tells us ‘stunning’, she has a unique voice yes but I don’t think she should be compared with Kathleen Ferrier, she is a singer in her own right. My favourite that she sings is ‘music’ by Purcell.
