- Polonnaruwa grew into a powerful metropolis with the fall of the Anuradhapura monarchy to Solin in 1017 due to the Chola invasion. King Vijayabahu brought the tooth relic and the Patra relic to Polonnaruwa while rescuing the nation from Chola control. Here, he constructed a Talada Palace and interred the artifacts. He created the Dalada Malu complex in Polonnaruwa, which is the largest temple complex. This was improved during the reign of Maha Parakramabahu, and Polonnaruwa also saw the construction of tanks, temples, royal palaces, and other structures. Dalada House - Hatada was constructed by Nishanka Malla King.
On a block of ground that is roughly 120 feet long and 90 feet broad, there is a structure called Hatada that consists of an inner chamber and an entry hall with carved stone walls. There were two floors in it. The tooth relic, pot relic, and other artifacts may have been kept on the upper floor, which may have been made of wood. It appears that a Buddhist temple once stood on the lowest floor. In this home, there are three Buddha sculptures. On each of the four corners, there are four stunning five-foot windows. A lovely entrance pavilion can be found to the north.
According to Mr. Chandra Vikrama Gamage, King Maha Parakramabahu created this, and King Nisshanka Malla rebuilt it. Beautiful sculptures and inscriptions honoring King Malla are shown on the walls. This edifice allegedly took sixty hours to complete. This is also employed as Hatada. Also, it is stated that sixty names of relics are interred here. It is noteworthy that this building's moon lamp displays a lion's head. Other moon lamps from this time period do not contain lion or Taurus imagery. ( referance- sarisaraweb.wo...)
