China also lacked artillery of all kinds. The original plan is to have 60 of these division that are fully trained and equipped, but of course war was forced upon China too early. You're totally right, except on one point : the standard issue rifle isn't a copy of the "Commission 1924" model, there is no such "Commission 1924" rifle. It's a copy of the Standardmodell 1924 made for export. In fact the Chinese army used almost everything they could find, most often the Hanyang rifle, the Mauser 1907 and many more, including captured Japanese Type 38 rifles. The Zhong Zheng rifle was far from being widespread

The suicide attack detail was actually accurate during this particular battle, except it was technically just that one guy who yelled a bunch of stuff and jumped causing a Japanese retreat, I think they added more as dramatic effect as well as homage to all the people who did suicide attacks during the war cause it was very common and that was all they had back then

That territory was leased to either america or britain. At that time, the world war 2 was purely japan vs china, america, britain, france, nazi germany and the soviet union had not entered the conflict yet.

War movies in general tend to have that effect. It's easy to watch a scene like this and figure that no one survived on either side.

If you search up Sino German cooperation, Nationalist China purchased the equipment and invited advisors from Germany before in 1921 to fully develop the Chinese units with German equipment into what it was called the 80 division plan. It was to fully develop to use against Soviet Russia and the communists,

Is actually as close to the real battle back in 1937 as any film can be, it was one the first films released in China about the heroism of the Nationalist side in WWII, so it says something about how well it was received in China and the world.
The Chinese 87th and 88th division did not really use German equipment. Besides the helmet and the grenades, they used mostly Chinese made or copied equipment. For example, the standard issue rifle is a copy of the Commission 1924 model, which is called the Chiang Kai-Shek Rifle or Zhong Zheng Style Rifle (7.92mm Mauser). Other divisions would still have many older Hanyang Style Rifle, a copy of the Gewehr 88. Chinese do not have MG34, but still uses Maxim gun and each squad's primary fire power is the Czech ZB 26 light machine gun (20 round) similar to the Bren gun. China also lacked artillery of all kinds.
The original plan is to have 60 of these division that are fully trained and equipped, but of course war was forced upon China too early. Chiang was still preparing for war and was hoping for 2 more years to prepare, but the July 7th Marco Polo Bridge incident happened and war came early.
You're totally right, except on one point : the standard issue rifle isn't a copy of the "Commission 1924" model, there is no such "Commission 1924" rifle. It's a copy of the Standardmodell 1924 made for export. In fact the Chinese army used almost everything they could find, most often the Hanyang rifle, the Mauser 1907 and many more, including captured Japanese Type 38 rifles. The Zhong Zheng rifle was far from being widespread
