George was against the idea of his mother accepting her love interest's hand in marriage until he found out that the man was financially well off. Then George was giving his mother the greenlight to marry this fine man. He really got upset when they called off the wedding. Isn't it something how some people with money is suspicious of everyone that crosses their path, instead of hearing them out first.
I think the funniest line in this episode is when Mother Jefferson tells George….”I don’t have to buy love…all it took was one flatter of my eyelashes.”
George was way more racist than Archie, though somehow he always got away with it. Can you imagine if Archie Bunker had ever said to Louise, "The day I do that is the day you and your husband change to the right color"? They would never have taken that. The audience would probably have gasped too!
Mother Jefferson was a total legend off the chain, comical and powerful.
Mother Jefferson was the funniest character right after Florence
They were a joy to watch on the Jeffersons.

So, George is racist, sexist, ageist and a hypocrite. Who'd have thought it?
