........For a change ". The way she said that, with a subtle, optimistic smile. It was like she was saying, ' You knew the shade was coming, didn't you '
Zara was excellent with her timing..... She could handle the rhythm of the audience and dialogue like a pro. Her best episode was the fall in the kitchen.
The part where Mother Jefferson told George not to get mad at Louise for stepping on her foot because Louise has big feet, always has me laughing. She never let up on Louise, right up until her last appearance on the show.
😄 (lol) HILARIOUS!…. ‘ Mother Jefferson ’ was the classic archetype of the jealous and possessive matriarch who didn’t feel that any other woman was good enough for her son.
Her character was so funny because my grandma loved my mom but my dad was an only child and his mother would still treat him like he was a small boy 😂😂😂😂. My dad would stand his ground. My granddad was still living, he would just say, " She's a mess".😂😂😂 I miss all of them.
So did my step great-grandmother. She was always mean to me and my siblings. We could never please her and was never good enough. For that reason I always dreaded visiting my grandfather ( her son-in- law ). The last time we visited, she sat us down and gave us a very genuine and heart-felt apology for her behaviour. Then she passed away a few months later circa 1975.
My all time favorite tv mom, “mother 👵🏽 Jefferson” the ORIGINAL shade thrower 📺🕰️🥰..poor Louise was almost always her main target cause she could never do right for her baby George in her loving eyes❣️🤪😂🤣💐🙏🏼
These are all great, but my choice for ultimate Mother Jefferson insult is from "Louise vs. Jenny" in Season 3. This was shortly after Lionel and Jenny got married, and as the episode title indicates, Louise acted like an overbearing mother-in-law herself. To her credit, after Mother Jefferson came over she had a self-awareness moment when she realized her mistake and made up with Jenny. After that, when she saw Mother Jefferson, she made a point of telling her that she understood that mothers have to let go of their sons. From her tone of voice, it was obvious she was trying to make a point and throwing shade of her own. Mother Jefferson's response: "How right you are! And Jenny, you see that you don't let her forget!"
That’s the only time I’ve ever seen Zara Cully almost break character. It comes during the “and my daughter in law” line. You can see her holding back a laugh.
Yes and Ms. Culley didn't initially want the role of Mother Jefferson because of how mean she was to Louise, she wanted to be Louise's mother, but they didn't write that character for the show. I'm glad she changed her mind (with Ms. Sanford's urging) because Mother Jefferson is iconic!
What are you talking about? He didn't live with a man. He didn't live with anybody. There's no confirmation or proof he was Gay. In fact it's been reported he had a crush on one of the sisters in Amen so you need to stop spreading lies.
He played the part like he was told. The first Lionel decided to focus on Good Times, Producing! It wasn't the 2 Lionel fault. Mike was asked to returned, but he declined.
"You see George, even your mother agrees with me."
"Well, on the other hand." 😂😂

Mother Jefferson was the QUEEN OF SHADE 😂😂😂😂
Mother Jefferson was a treasure. I saw an interview where she would apologize to Louise for being mean after scenes were shot. She was a sweatheart.
Zara Cully was hilarious 😂 She stole the show every time she was in an episode.
Agreed.😊
She sure did😅😮!!
😂 yes!
Every.Scene.She.Owned. 🙌🏿🔥
Mother Jefferson was one of the greatest sitcom characters ever.
I agree 100%
Most definitely! Up there with Aunt Esther, Fred Sanford, Al Bundy, Sue Ann Nivens, Marie and Frank Barone, Ted Baxter, Barney Fife and Archie Bunker!
Mother Jefferson was such a BEAST ❤
Mother Jefferson was something else
Zara was excellent with her timing..... She could handle the rhythm of the audience and dialogue like a pro. Her best episode was the fall in the kitchen.

She never let up on Louise, right up until her last appearance on the show.

"You were a mess then and your still a mess"😂😂 Mother Jefferson had enough shade for an entire forest😂😂
Mother Jefferson the Original Hater!! 🤣
The oldest actresses are the best! Mother Jefferson, Aunt Clara and Endora from Betwitched, Granny from The Beverly Hillbillies.
Pearl from 227....
@@BadTV1993 Don't forget Sophia from The Golden Girls! It would have been hilarious to have them all together in a show lol!
They were "old" enough to say what the audience was thinking. 👍🏻😁
Yetta from the nanny😂😂
Don’t leave out Marie Barone, she stands out as the best at backhanded compliments. Throwing shade but making it seem like a compliment.
Lunch with mama is my favorite ❤️
7:36😂 Her facial expression was hilarious!!!
TOTALLY 😁😁😁😁😁!!
This is my favorite show of all time especially with mother Jefferson in it especially when she insults lousie

Most times I watched the Jeffersons I was disappointed when I didn't 👀 Zara Cully in the opening. She was awesome.
Mother Jefferson (Zara Cully) had great comedic timing😂! Loved this show back in the 70's and still love to watch the TH-cam clips💯.

Zara didnt even noticed that she dropped her purse
Mother Jefferson was even funnier than Lucille Ball.
I never found Ball to be funny, Desi and Vivian Vance were the funny ones.
Why did mother Jefferson leave the apartment without her handbag ??
She was too drunk to care
Zara and Isabelle is friends in real life
They "were" friends in real life, since both of them are dead now.
@@jamesorsby7553 Both of them are dead now? Duh...Do you think so?

Fake Lionel was crap.
He played the part like he was told. The first Lionel decided to focus on Good Times, Producing! It wasn't the 2 Lionel fault. Mike was asked to returned, but he declined.
Zara Cully had an amazing background!
