I used to believe it was kinder to leave left-handed babies out in the snow and not feed them. But I have to say, this video does make me think we may have been a bit harsh
Most of the Shadows hits that are covered are as near to 'copies' as possible with everyone trying to get every nuance to replicate Hanks sound! I gave up!!
Well done, thank you! One of my favorite songs. I remember when this first came out. It was a song of hope, we Americans were on the ascendancy. Pres JFK aimed for the moon literally, WW2 was over, economy was soaring, lots of jobs and everyone around the world admired us. Sadly, next year our president was murdered and everything changed. So this song for so many of us then was one of hope but also later on of sadness. This song always brings back those memories for me.
Great Cover of a classic, Really good and you you make that guitar tone sing man, Well Done. This was my dads favourite song, He heard it when it first came out on the radio but didn’t know the name of it, he sang it over and over to himself and stayed awake all night until he could get to the record shop the next day and sang it for the girl behind the counter, she then told him what it was and so he bought 2 copies of it just in case one got damaged.
Superb sound, and playing -quite similar to the Claviolline, although a more limited range and played with the stylus rather than fingers. Much better than some of the re-recordings made under the Tornados name.
Oh you absolute genius you!!!! Even though this was before my time, I grew up in an era where just because something happened before I was born, I was still inquisitive enough to want to know about it! This has to be the very best cover version of Telstar I have ever heard!
When I saw the Tornados at Portsmouth Guild Hall, back then, it was played on a Vox 'Continental' organ! I do like a good rumba... the back bone of most popular music over the years!
Hi Kevin, This is an excellent version of a great old tune ... I really enjoyed it. Congratulations on your mastery of the Stylophone and thanks for your terrific upload! Cheers, James
Thanks James!.....I remember first using my teachers original stylophone as a boy many years ago... as our class toured the streets playing Christmas carols!! I had numb fingers from the cold lol!....take care....
Ralph Harris would be so proud of your interpretation of this classic, also my mother god bless her in heaven could play this note-perfect on her Yamaha organ, love you mom miss you but still got the memories
A brilliant cover - as usual, Kevin. I'm sure Joe is looking down and smiling at your talent with the Stylophone. I had one back in the day, but was not in your class with the stylus!
Great playing and sound!! I recreate Clavioline sounds with my old analog Casio CT410V, the only one model with VCF/LFO sliders on the panel. No digital samplers or VA/FM synths can do this sound ;-)
VERY nicely done ! I was actually wondering if the Stylophone was used at the time. I had no idea an instrument like that existed, and I played synthesizer back in the 70s. On a side note, there was a company called PAIA back then and they offered a kit called The Gnome, very similar to your Stylophone. I bought and built one, but alas, I didn’t like it. I had an ARP 2600 at the time and the Gnome was just something to mess around with. Wish I still had my 2600 though !
Great to see a left handed player, gives hope for the rest of us.

And me as a lefty.
This is one of the very few covers that actually managed to recreate the clavioline sound.
Covers are not meant to be copies.
@@thursoberwick1948 that's true, but many Telstar covers are just copies with a bad keyboard sound.
@@SolarisUrbinoFanAgree.

Well done 😅 sound great. You make 76 years old very happy.

Same in the UK, 240 pennies in the pound and great music.... LOOK at it Now !!!
super funky great job
Stylophon ein Teil meiner Jugend das hatte ich auch einmal.👍
Well played. The original record turned me onto loving pop music back in the early sixties.
I used to play this all the time on the stylophone when I was a kid, it was like it was made for it.
Joe Meek would be proud mate Best regards Andrew :)
This cover is OUTSTANDING!!! Great work! Just as good as the original!
An excellent performance. The Stylophone sound suits Telstar perfectly.

If the Shadows and Tornados had collaborated on this track it would have sounded like this. Very good. Sounds great.
Wow! You’ve got the sound just perfect. Very nostalgic melody.
