Hi, everyone, Some people are having problems with the DZ09 smart watch, The problem is connecting it to your smart phone, Here is a quick guide on how i do it, It might be slightly different on your watch and phone, If you have any apps on you phone for this watch delete them, The following works for me, Only use the mediatek smart device app from the play store, The chip in the smart watch is made by mediatek so this is the best app available, Don't use the QR code that is on the smart watch, First turn on your bluetooth on your phone, The open the mediatek smart device app, Don't do anything in the app on your phone, Always connect the watch to the phone not the other way around, Go into bluetooth settings on the watch and turn on bluetooth and bluetooth visability, Both need to be on while connecting, After connection visibility will turn off automatically, Then search for new device, It should come up with your phone, Select your phone in the list of devices the watch has found, Then tap connect, Always have the watch and phone as close as possible, The phones screen must be on while it's connecting, It should then ask if you want to pair the device, Select yes, It then asks if you want to sync the time and date, Select yes, Then it might flash up connection failed on the smart phone, But then it says "connected" on the watch and it should also say connected on the mediatek smart device app, To double check it is connected, Go into devices in the watch and check that there is a dot with 2 commas on each side, That is telling you the phone is connected to the watch, If you are seperated by more that 6 or 7 metres it will loose it's signal, this is normal, Going to a different floor in your house may also loose signal if you don't take your phone with you, If it drops the signal when you have the phone on your person, Then there may be a problem with the watch, Contact the seller and get a full refund, as it's not as described, If you need to reconnect it, Go into devices on the watch and select the phone you want to connect to, Select connect, make sure the phone is on and the watch is right next to the phone while connecting, It should then connect, If at any point it seem to not be working, Switch off the watch and close the app, If it still doesn't work go into the watches bluetooth settings and select devices, Select disconnect, And then go through the pairing sequence again, Some of these watches are slightly different and the steps may change slightly, But you will get used to how your watch works, You can select which apps notify you on the mediatek smartwatch app, Select notifications in the app, There is personal apps and system apps just slide the toggle on or off, If you don't select them you will get notified for every action your phone makes, Hope this helps.
+Brandon i think it is in file manager or settings under screen saver, But it's a year since i did it, So a revised firmware may of moved the settings options.
Hi when the watch is connected to your phone via Bluetooth but not used eg phone in pocket as i am not allowed to have a phone at work so it is hidden in my pocket but there both connected via Bluetooth how long is the standby ? Would the dz09 last a 9 hour work shift constantly connected via Bluetooth to my phone only being used to look at my messages. Thanks.
Hi, A friend used one for this exact reason, it lasted the whole day with an average amount of notifications and on vibrate mode, i would seriously look at the Q18 which has a better build quality and a slightly bigger battery, bare in mind you won't get Apple quality but that is 30 to 40 times the price of this watch.
SW-100 App on Google Play Store works for all of these watches. No need to put sketchy Chinese app in your phone. The watch as a phone with SIM card will only store 100 contacts and you will have to save each one while connected to your smartphone or manually enter each one. When connected by Bluetooth to your phone it will only read first 500 contacts. These are limits in the Nucleus operating system. I have both watches and prefer DZ09 to GT08. Strap is sturdier and camera is useable. GT08 plastic button on strap breaks quickly and camera is poor selfie only. Memory card is needed to store pictures, music, voice recordings. A few versions will play videos and have FM radio. Browser is worthless as well as bookmarks to Facebook, Whatsup Twitter. Very difficult to type text.
Scott Mannear thanks for mentioning this, does that app show the full message on the watch ?, as some apps don't allow you to use all the functions of the watch and phone, i had a friend who used a U8 app and it did not give the full message on the watch.
Noob Tube Yes. Full text messages appear with either SIM card installed or by Bluetooth tethering to your smartphone with Mediatek Smartwatch app on your phone or Sw-100. I won't use the QR code for sketchy Chinese app to have access to my smartphone data.
Hi, Thanks for this follow up, I will pin this message at the top of this video, Thanks for taking the time to help others, This doesn't happen very often with all the trolls, I completely understand the app supplied is potentially a risk some people may not want to take that risk as it has been reported that some apps report back to China over an encrypted network, People who found this out couldn't tell what it was sending back to it's base though, To be safe it would be better with a play store app but I have tried a couple and they don't really function well with the DZ09, You say these 2 function well, That the Mediatek Smartwatch app and the SW-100 app both work, I personally prefer the GT08 I have just done an unboxing review of GT08 Smart Watch, th-cam.com/video/VKepTKURoRs/w-d-xo.html I have also done an uboxing review of the A1 Smart Watch, th-cam.com/video/wY0IZYrrL0A/w-d-xo.html For me of the 3 the GT08 has the best strap which closes on the outside with a 2 metal pegs, The body of the watch is only 12mm deep so it fits my wrist better, The strap is more curved and shaped better to fit a wrist, I am in the process of testing the GT08 so will do a 12 week review soon.
It will connect to one Bluetooth device at a time, smartphone, speaker, headset. Your body can interfere with signal so put watch and device antenna on same side of your body. Moving your arm around can sometimes drop the connection.
Hi, I have looked into it and I can't confirm if your phone is backwards compatible with this watch, The watch is only loaded with bluetooth 3.0, You will need to ask the seller or Samsung as there were issues with the S6 so it might not work with the S7, I don't know why phone manufacturers do this, It makes it difficult to use older bluetooth devices.
Hi, It needs the app to communicate with the watch as they are different operating systems, You can use the sim slot in the back and make the watch a stand alone phone, Thanks.
It may be it only has a very small storage capacity, If you have a spare SD card see if that makes a difference, I mean really small, 10's of mb, the camera is potato quality though, VGA = 0.3 mega pixels.

Omero Magana the watch links by bluetooth to your phone, i think the watch can access your phonebook on your phone as well, You can also put a sim card in the watch and use it without a linked smart phone but the buttons are small for typing phone numbers.
The mediatek smart device does not find the phone in either mode that it has On the watch I have the device visible but o get no connection. The media tek app never sees the watch.
+David Hamm we can try one more time, ignore the app don't have it open, you only need the phones screen on, switch on the phones bluetooth, go into the watch switch on bluetooth on the watch, switch on the bluetooth visibility on the watch, put them both together it should say pair device on the watch, select yes, then sync date & time, click yes, it will probably flash up connection failed on the phone, but if you go in the app now it should say connected in the app, if it doesn't happen like that ask for a refund it may be the bluetooth antenna is faulty or broken.
I switch mine on only to get "input pin". There was no QR code in the box at al and it didn't work with your QR code in the video above ( thanks for that by the way. I have 3 tries of inputting the pin and I've already wasted 2 attempts entering the wrong code. Has anybody any idea how I can fix this? Just to. Clarify, I get NO start-up/ option screen.
Joseph McKee Majury Hi, this is odd, it should start up, without any need for a code inputting, Have you pushed the on button until it starts, Do you have the instructions as my instructions did have a code, i don't know if yours is the same code as my code, I show the code on my instructions in this video, ask the seller first for the code on the watch they supplied you, As you only have 1 try left, Then try my code on this video it might be the same or not it is up to you, Then contact the seller and say it is not working and get your money back, Maybe try the GT08 watch next it's a better watch than this one.
Noob Tube , thanks for your reply, but as I said, I get no start up screen at all, just a screen asking me for the input pin. I have switched it off and on, removed the battery and put it back in again, as well as removing both the sim and the SD card. Nothing works. I think I will take your advice and just scrap this and go for the version you suggest. Once again, thanks. PS, I've read online that quite a lot of people have this same problem.
AAAdilTM hi, it is still working as good as it was when new, it is about 4 months old, Search on ebay for dz09 watch and select the cheapest + p & p first, All of the results should be in your currency and all the listings if they are shown should be available in your country, If in doubt ask the seller before purchase.
AAAdilTM it is a lot more expensive at £38, it does run android but it still looks like a dz09, I don't know if that is a good or bad thing, The Lemfo GT88 is only £39, I also like the completely different Lemfo LEM4 at £67, with a 2.2 inch screen, and runs android as well.
+pankaj patil hi, no it is just basic, it is an operating system called nucleus, it is made by mediatek, it doesn't run android, expect to pay £60 upwards for a android watch.
Yes the microphone and speaker are in the watch, Making calls can be done through the watch, But, The quality is not great, I asked someone what the voice quality was like during a call and they said not great.
Does whatsapp works in this smartwatch because I have the same one please let me know if whatsapp works in it and if works then how to install it because whenever I click on install whatsapp it gets stuck there only back option works
Hamza Yar Khan hi, it needs a sim card inserted to work with whatsapp, But even if you use a sim it will only take you to a search page, Not the main site as the processor is not fast enough to do anymore than very basic tasks.
rennie248 Hi, i only tested it in my Q18, i inserted the sim, went down to connections in the menu, And it gives you an option to search for network, It gave me 3 options i chose mine, but it still didn't work, so then one peron on you tube said you have to setup an account on the watch, where is asks for your carrier APN number, i tried googling this and it did bring up a number that you have to put in the watch, but it still didn't work for me, i thought about asking the seller, he fobbed me off 3 weeks ago saying he will ask the factory, no answer yet, maybe ask your network provider what your APN number is if you get that far.
Digital Cyclops Video Productions no, sorry screen rotation would need an accelerometer to automatically adjust the screen, You can't manually rotate the screen either, It is not a function i have seen on any watch even a lot more expensive ones, They are still trying to work out how to get people to buy these type of watches.
Did you find any problems with calling or receiving calls on it when you installed your sim.... the reason i asked is that i currently have a Samsung gear which is faultless. I haven't used it with its own sim and it doesn't have a camera. I want to know is it worth it for me to change to the qz09.. pls assist if you can. Cheers
Tim Hadzisavas i didn't use a sim in this watch, The bigger problem is the strap failed on both of my DZ09's within 4 months, I did a video saying don't buy this watch, The camera on all these smart watches is only 0.3 mega pixel and not great, I think the GT08 is a far better watch and has lasted 5 months so far without problems.
I have this watch, the dz09 and an android phone. I downloaded the funrun and bt notification apps but the bluetooth keeps disconnecting, any suggestions, other apps for example?
Hi, Sorry for the delay, i always try to answer all question as best as i can, Your comment was hidden from me until i logged into my desktop pc, There are 3 apps available in the play store, The best is mediatek smart device, Next is one called bt notification, and another is called smartwatch helper, I have only used the mediatek smart device as the chip inside the watch is a mediatek chip, And it work good enough that i don't need to try either of the others, Thanks.
Noob Tube I have put sw-100 app, plus two bt notification apps plus fun run and it no longer loses bt connection, plus I used to use the find my phone function to check if the phone and watch were still connected, but that caused bt disconnection, so if it's not broken why fix it, so whatever I am doing is working.

Hi, I don't have access to the sim card or the micro sd card, The video is long to give as much detail as possible, There are clickable time codes in the description and a description next to them which will jump you to that part of the video, It only works on a desktop PC though, Thanks for your comment on my video.
I am not sure, You could tape over the speaker, It does have a silent mode so no alert sounds, It will vibrate when a notification comes in, I am not sure what the on off music does on silent mode, Just don't turn it on or off.
You might be able to use a dye or ink remover or graffiti remover on the band to get the dye off of the rubber. Make sure whatever you use don't harm plastic or rubber.
TH-cam what is the best and you will find there for 12:10 to $12 on the Wish app this thing will make Bluetooth calls you can send text messages everything with this without even having a SIM card this little boy is killer the only bad thing that I noticed on mine is the bands are very fragile so watch how you bend them back and forth other than that this thing does everything an Apple Watch does do for the price of 10-12 buucks.. I would recommend this watch for anybody only other thing that I forgot to say is that you really need to be on top of keeping it charged that's another thing but that's about it I wish they made a bigger mAh battery for this thing and it would have no flaws
+Amy Wong Jia Hui Hi, I think the friend who was testing one said it pushed all the messages to the watch in full, Without the need for a sim to be inserted into the watch, As it connects via Bluetooth to your phone, But if you don't have a phone then you will need a sim inserted in the watch, I maybe wrong though, It works with the mediatek smart device app that is available from the play store, mediatek made the processor in the watch so that should be a good app to use.
Hi, You need a Micro SIM Card to fit this watch, I have not tried inserting a sim in this watch I just use the bluetooth functions and it connects to my smartPhone, You only need a sim in the watch if you are going to use the watch as a stand alone phone, and to access Whatsapp, Facebook & Twitter, But the watch alerts you by messages, So it is just easier to use the phone to search and just use the watch for notifications.
Hi, I am not sure, I don't use the step counter, I did test it and it seemed accurate, but step counters are a bit of a scam the expensive ones are only 3/4 accurate and their only job is to count steps, So I wouldn't rely on any step counter as it is only a rough guide, The BBC did a documentary about all the popular brands of step counters and none of the them were accurate, Thanks.
I am not sure, I have a Q18 watch now it is much better than the DZ09, It has a louder front facing speaker, But when it is on and i make a call the audio goes through the watch, The same happens when i watch a you tube video, Be aware though these watches don't have a headphone jack.

Hi, battery is only 380 mah about the size of a small stamp, it lasts for about 3 days with 5 message notifications per day, any more than that and the battery life will drop.

PEEBEE M. there are not versions it is just what is put on the watch by the manufacturer, if you want specific apps ask the seller before purchase, generally the older ones don't have all 3 apps on them, the newer ones have facebook, whatsapp and twitter but don't be to worried about that as no one has managed to get those functions working even with a sim inserted, a better watch is the Q18 i have done a review on you tube and it is better than this watch in every way, just link these smart watches to your smart phone and it gives you notifications to check messages on your phone.
Hi, I think the base colour is silver on all these watches, If they are black, or rose gold it is just paint on top of a silver base, If the the paint gets scratches it will show through to the base colour, So the silver colour will shine through, It is your personal taste which colour you want, When it gets scratched it won't look as nice though, This is why i chose the silver one, it still looks good.

Jered MC1 Hi, no it isn't it is barely splash proof, It would be safer to remove the watch when you wash your hands, The GT08 is a little better with the ports on the left side of the watch, Water proof watches are around £35 ish.
Jered MC1 About 2 to 3 days battery life per charge, But both of them are now broken, Both straps failed on both watches at around 4 months after purchase, There is no headphone jack on this watch, I don't think headphone jacks are on any smart watch that I have seen.
Hi, Yes typing is impossible, without a stylus, even then it is difficult, But it is really just for notifications, I have a friend who is not allowed to look at his phone during the working day, But he is allowed to look at his smart watch, So he can catch important messages at any time so he doesn't have to worry.

vm10161 the software on the watch should be the correct one, the QR code is sometimes on the instructions, I think i show the QR code on my watch in this video, Or try searching on google play store for smart watch apps, Contact the seller and tell them you are having problems, Mine is about 8 months old now so maybe they have changed the software, I think somone mentioned an app that does work with their watch, have a read of the messages on this video, If you can't get them to work complain to the sellers as they are useless without being able to connect to your smart phone, If the are not as described open a not as described case on ebay and you should get your money back.
Sworatex i have not tried to reply to whatsapp messages, i just read them, and reply on my phone, Even with a stylus it is very difficult to type a message on such a small screen.

Vinz Litusas i don't think any of these smart watches are capable of doing that, The camera is a 0.3mp quality, and it is very juddery, The watch doesn't have a very strong processor either or any storage without a micro SD card inserted.

To be safe it would be better with a play store app but I have tried a couple and they don't really function well with the DZ09,
You say these 2 function well,
That the Mediatek Smartwatch app and the SW-100 app both work,

For me of the 3 the GT08 has the best strap which closes on the outside with a 2 metal pegs,
The body of the watch is only 12mm deep so it fits my wrist better,
The strap is more curved and shaped better to fit a wrist,

Hi, I have looked into it and I can't confirm if your phone is backwards compatible with this watch,
The watch is only loaded with bluetooth 3.0,
You will need to ask the seller or Samsung as there were issues with the S6 so it might not work with the S7,
I don't know why phone manufacturers do this,
It makes it difficult to use older bluetooth devices.

Omero Magana the watch links by bluetooth to your phone, i think the watch can access your phonebook on your phone as well,
You can also put a sim card in the watch and use it without a linked smart phone but the buttons are small for typing phone numbers.
The mediatek smart device does not find the phone in either mode that it has
On the watch I have the device visible but o get no connection. The media tek app never sees the watch.

you have to connect the watch to the phone never the other way around as it doesn't work.

ignore the app don't have it open,
you only need the phones screen on,
switch on the phones bluetooth,
go into the watch switch on bluetooth on the watch,
switch on the bluetooth visibility on the watch,
put them both together it should say pair device on the watch,
select yes,
then sync date & time, click yes,
it will probably flash up connection failed on the phone,
but if you go in the app now it should say connected in the app,
if it doesn't happen like that ask for a refund it may be the bluetooth antenna is faulty or broken.
I switch mine on only to get "input pin". There was no QR code in the box at al and it didn't work with your QR code in the video above ( thanks for that by the way. I have 3 tries of inputting the pin and I've already wasted 2 attempts entering the wrong code.

Do you have the instructions as my instructions did have a code, i don't know if yours is the same code as my code,
I show the code on my instructions in this video, ask the seller first for the code on the watch they supplied you,
As you only have 1 try left,
Then try my code on this video it might be the same or not it is up to you,
Then contact the seller and say it is not working and get your money back,
Maybe try the GT08 watch next it's a better watch than this one.

The quality is not great,

You can't manually rotate the screen either,
It is not a function i have seen on any watch even a lot more expensive ones,
They are still trying to work out how to get people to buy these type of watches.

Did you find any problems with calling or receiving calls on it when you installed your sim.... the reason i asked is that i currently have a Samsung gear which is faultless. The bigger problem is the strap failed on both of my DZ09's within 4 months,
I did a video saying don't buy this watch,
The camera on all these smart watches is only 0.3 mega pixel and not great,
I think the GT08 is a far better watch and has lasted 5 months so far without problems.

Next is one called bt notification,
and another is called smartwatch helper,
I have only used the mediatek smart device as the chip inside the watch is a mediatek chip,

Noob Tube I have put sw-100 app, plus two bt notification apps plus fun run and it no longer loses bt connection, plus I used to use the find my phone function to check if the phone and watch were still connected, but that caused bt disconnection, so if it's not broken why fix it, so whatever I am doing is working.

Yes, it works with bluetooth,
The sim is just for making calls and texts using only the watch.
You might be able to use a dye or ink remover or graffiti remover on the band to get the dye off of the rubber. Make sure whatever you use don't harm plastic or rubber.

I have reviewed another watch called the Q18,
I think it's a better watch.
TH-cam what is the best and you will find there for 12:10 to $12 on the Wish app this thing will make Bluetooth calls you can send text messages everything with this without even having a SIM card this little boy is killer the only bad thing that I noticed on mine is the bands are very fragile so watch how you bend them back and forth other than that this thing does everything an Apple Watch does do for the price of 10-12 buucks.. I would recommend this watch for anybody only other thing that I forgot to say is that you really need to be on top of keeping it charged that's another thing but that's about it I wish they made a bigger mAh battery for this thing and it would have no flaws

Without the need for a sim to be inserted into the watch,
As it connects via Bluetooth to your phone,
But if you don't have a phone then you will need a sim inserted in the watch,

Smart eraser made by Mr. Clean, found in the cleaning aisle of the supermarket will do the trick. Use that on the white strap and it'll be like new.

Hi, You need a Micro SIM Card to fit this watch,
I have not tried inserting a sim in this watch I just use the bluetooth functions and it connects to my smartPhone,
You only need a sim in the watch if you are going to use the watch as a stand alone phone, and to access Whatsapp, Facebook & Twitter,
But the watch alerts you by messages,
So it is just easier to use the phone to search and just use the watch for notifications.

Hi, I am not sure, I don't use the step counter,
I did test it and it seemed accurate,
but step counters are a bit of a scam the expensive ones are only 3/4 accurate and their only job is to count steps,
So I wouldn't rely on any step counter as it is only a rough guide,
The BBC did a documentary about all the popular brands of step counters and none of the them were accurate,

Hi, battery is only 380 mah about the size of a small stamp, it lasts for about 3 days with 5 message notifications per day, any more than that and the battery life will drop.

PEEBEE M. there are not versions it is just what is put on the watch by the manufacturer,
if you want specific apps ask the seller before purchase,
generally the older ones don't have all 3 apps on them,
the newer ones have facebook, whatsapp and twitter but don't be to worried about that as no one has managed to get those functions working even with a sim inserted,
a better watch is the Q18 i have done a review on you tube and it is better than this watch in every way,
just link these smart watches to your smart phone and it gives you notifications to check messages on your phone.
Be wary of the cheap battery inside it, I just found that mine was bloated and nonfunctional today. I now have no way to use this watch

I think the base colour is silver on all these watches,
If they are black, or rose gold it is just paint on top of a silver base,
If the the paint gets scratches it will show through to the base colour,
So the silver colour will shine through,
It is your personal taste which colour you want,
When it gets scratched it won't look as nice though,
This is why i chose the silver one, it still looks good.

The GT08 is a little better with the ports on the left side of the watch,

But both of them are now broken,
Both straps failed on both watches at around 4 months after purchase,
There is no headphone jack on this watch, I don't think headphone jacks are on any smart watch that I have seen.

I do not get these watches for free so i will tell you what i think of them,
Everyone else doesn't tell you what is bad with these watches,
Some don't even use them to see if they are any good,
I would not buy this DZ09,
The strap has broken on both my DZ09's within 4 months,
I have had 4 smart watches so far and done videos on all 4,
