Hello, I just wanted to tell you that you can change retroarch's style back to the old one (This is optional of course). Just go to settings, then drivers, then go to menu and select xmb instead of ozone. Then exit out of retroarch and open it again. Hope this helps!

Im using a PS4 controller but the buttons don't work according to my set bindings in the quick menu, they assign themselves to different buttons instead without showing it. The Z Trigger for Mupen64 is set to L2 in bindings for example but only works when you press "down" on the right thumbstick - among other messed up button combos
Any idea what's going on with this thing? It's aggitating the hell out of me lol

I backup the config files "retroarch.cfg" and "retroarch_qt.cfg" from a fresh install of Retroarch and have them handy. I keep a copy of those in another folder or a USB drive.

Does RetroArch recognize what USB port i have each controller plugged into?
If so can i have 2 different controller setups for each port w/out one hindering or changing the other?
My grandson also comes over to play and he has his own preferences,so all i have to do is take my 360 controller out of my USB port 1? And put it into usb port 2? and he will be good to go m once we set his preference up there? And that won't change my port 1 settings when he goes home and i put the controller back into my port?
Another thing is i read a guide b4 finding you and have my 360 controller near perfect, except maybe one mistake
All games play perfect, except when playing "Dragons Lair 3D" .i can do everything but walk(LOL)
The game options say "L" is to walk,but i have no idea what that translates to on my 360 controller,so i hit any and all buttons,but it does not get me walking
The error i may have made was when reading how to set controller up,when i was told to assign a button by hitting "back button",i had no idea what button that is,so i guessed "B",but i already chose "B" for another setting

Hmmm i know there is. I haven't set it up but there are a few things I would look for.
Look in the hotkeys to see if there is a mouse toggle hotkey.
The other place I would look is in the cores quick menu. So either load the core and go to quick menu on the main screen. Or it may be called core options.
Or, start a game and press your menu toggle hotkey to open the quick menu. Look for mouse settings. If you find them you will want to click save core overrides.
If there is an additional settings menu like in mame you can find it by loading the core and going to "information>core info" if there is another settings menu this will tell you how to open it

I am using an X Arcade controller. Works great but cannot figure out how to remap the buttons. For example I just want to change a couple buttons on the X Arcade when playing Genesis games.

Easy fix. Set the hotkey for menu toggle. Then start a game for genesis. Then hit the menu toggle hotkeys. Once the menu is open there are 2 ways to fix the issue
1. Go into the quick menu and fix it there and then "save core overrides"
2. Exit the quick menu> go to settings> input user 1> set your controls like you see in the video. Then before you exit settings go to configuration> select save new config.
This should apply the settings to any game that uses that core or system

This is dumb: At Port 1 Control, i moved my D-Pad to the right to change controller type, it changed to "disabled". Now i can't use my controller anymore. Does anyone know how to fix this? How frustrating.

So when I load the NES core the buttons are saved a certain way. And when I load the SNES core the buttons are saved that way. Thanks so much.

Load the core in question and then go to the quick menu. Should be at the top of the home screen in retroarch while a core is loaded. Go to controls and set it up how you want. Then select save core overrides. You can also do it per game with game overrides.

When you set your controls for individual systems you may need to select your controller from the list at the top of the user binds section. Then select save new config instead of current config. You have to have the core loaded when you do it

When you set your controls set your d pad as left analog and it should give you the full range. I dont use ps3 controllers but it should work. Or you can try changing the input 1 device index to dual shock or another controller that has both analog and d pad. That might also work

Ok so you know when to map buttons on retro arch, on any game console for example GameCube, the right analog stick is set to the c buttons, but it’s weird cuz they’re mapped reversed , so put C button Y + for up and Y - for down and you do the same for the left and right ( X+ For right , X- for left)

@@johnh6689 I figured it out. It was a month ago but what I recall I did was that I deleted the controller config files and any like settings I had and made settings default. ONE of those things fixed it. That's all I know.
It's nothing to crazy to do, annoying but that's how retroarch is.

@Tabi Clemmons have to open the quick menu and set controls after you launch a game, using menu toggle hotkey. Or you have to load the core and then set your controls you want just for that system and instead of clicking save current config click save new config

I don’t know if you’ve managed to fix this issue, but for me i have to remove the controller/device from my laptop and repair it. Also make sure you are on the latest version, and pair your controller before turning on retroarch. I hope this helps.

im having an issue with my controller it has a binding problem, it binds with the pause feature of the application. When im playing a video gane. Its binded with the left stick. @AlEst98 yeah, there are lots of ways, typically with one player using WASD, Z, and X; and the other using arrow keys, Enter, and Shift. You can further set it up for extra buttons, but keep in mind a keyboard only has so many keys.

By default emulators use the d pad. So even though you map it correctly most won't work. What you have to do is when it says to hit up on the d pad for example you hit up on the joystick instead.

Nothing to do with what game your playing though. Its the emulator. And yes it does work. Your controls in this setup are for global. For example you can map the b button but the core will decide what that b button does. Unless you map core specific controls.

Its because you arent saving them. You have to go to configuration>save current config to save a global. Or save new config to save one for just that core

Just like you see. My video was made using windows and the controller is recognized by default. I would assume retroarch doesn't recognize your controller because it's in linux and you don't have the driver installed. On windows it just works exactly like you see in the video

u can save core remap file from quick setting or just override setting via quick menu and choose either override core or game, so everytime you start your core / game it will override the general setting with the one that you have saved before, hope it helps

CPS 1, 2, 3 are collections. They require the correct romsets and mame version to run. If you are using our build you already have the right versions.
