    //WHO AM I?
    I'm Wick and I am a reseller for a living. I find things at garage sales, thrift stores, and even clearance at retail stores to sell. I do online arbitrage, retail arbitrage, and buy locally. While the majority of my business is done through Amazon FBA, I also sell on eBay or anywhere else I can flip the junk that I find.
    I also trade stocks and futures, do affiliate marketing, and Merch by Amazon to make money online. My goal is to live a free life away from the typical 9-5 job.

    //FAQ
    Q: What Apps do you use to sell online (eBay and Amazon)?
    A: I search the eBay sold and completed listings to get an idea of what products are selling for. I use the Amazon Seller App to scan for FBA.
    Q: Can you make a living selling online?
    A: Yes, the difficulty is based on how much effort you put in and how much you need to make each month. I do this full time.
    Q: Where do you find your clearance products to resell?
    A: Literally everywhere. Check end caps and look for clearance aisles, but mostly it will be mixed in. Ask a manager if there's any good clearance deals and build a relationship if possible.
    Q: Do you make a full-time living selling online?
    A: I do. All my bills are covered, I'm able to save a good amount, and put money back into the business. I also do other things to make money, but reselling is the meat. It takes a lot of work and dedication to make a full-time living reselling.

    I started selling on eBay around 1999. There have been so many massive changes on that journey. Back then many listings didn’t even have photos and most people mailed you a check or money order even after PayPal came along. Also everything seemed rare so people bought almost everything listed. It was wild. I’m retired now and still sell part time. eBay income adds a lot to my bottom line now because I’m pretty selective about what I source and list and I have educated myself to find items with high sell through rates and good profit margins. Everything Wick has mentioned is spot on. Excellent analysis.

      Sounds exactly like my experience! This is a good side gig IF you can resist hoarding. But if you're in good health there are many other businesses that will pay you way more for your time. I'm 75 years old and have been self-employed for most of those years.

      I had to look twice to make sure I didn't write this myself because I also started selling on Ebay in 1999, and I'm retired now and still sell part time. I'm in the process of paring down my inventory to things that don't take up so much space, like books, trading cards, vintage postcards, and photos. I like the extra money that selling brings in, but I need to reclaim my space.

    You are totally on point with this video. Selling on eBay is really tough. I've been selling on eBay since it's very early days, I've been full-time for 3 years now.
    Do you know what's tougher than eBay? Working for a crappy boss. Going to useless meetings day in and day out. Missing time with your kids and partner because you are at work all the time. Working really hard, putting in overtime and getting the same pay raise as everyone else. Etc...etc... Yeah, eBay is tough, it is a lot of work, but it's not a 9-5 working for someone else. I remind myself of that any time I get angry over a low-ball offer, terrible return, stupid feedback etc. I'll take selling on eBay over a 9-5 regular job any day.

    Best and most realistic video ever! I think one thing people leave out of their total cost of good is gas. Even if I can pick something up at the bins for $1, the cost of gas to get there and back is $10. Now if I can sell 50 things that cost is distributed but for smaller sellers actually selling 50 things can be pretty hard. So I usually think of my $1 item as really costing $5. This is not real accounting but it helps me visualize some of the true “cost”.

I love my customers. I love gettig pieces of history into the right hands. Just for fun at the end of 2015 or so I tried selling my remaining stock and I was shocked at how hard it was to sell stamps on ebay compared to earlier, everyone wanted them super cheap........ Recently I sold some of my small sets of stamps(nothing valuable on ebay), but I used the standard envelope to sell them in, since the postages was less than $1.00 for them.....I got quite a bit more sales doing that. But then again, I only was doing it as a hobby, not for income reasons.......
      Even when I look at the wholesale stamp lots, one use to be able to find them dirt cheap on ebay, but now they are really expensive as well.....

I started reselling early last year after my life kind of fell apart (for a short time); I made more than enough to pay the bills and keep the kids fed/roof over their heads. I learned a TON from you before committing to full-time reselling, and I did more than well enough to pay the bills. Recently, with Goodwill and other thrift stores upping the prices in my area, as well as the TikTok zombies invading the market, it's been rough and almost enough to make me give up. I'm holding strong, waiting for garage sale season to keep me afloat, and waiting for these TikTok kids to give up (which I'm sure will happen) so I can keep this going and grow it into a stable fulltime job.

    I think its potentially not worth it.
    It depends on what you did prior and other avenues.
    We run a fairly decent sized eBay business.
    My biggest complaints are;
    1: Razor thin profit margins on anything consistent, (ie, Chinese imports), you will be strange-held by eBay and your competitors. Any time you innovate, your competitors will copy you and try to undercut you, they will literally steal your photos, your description, etc, even with your name and logo on it, customers only buy the cheapest product and could care less for anything you can offer. Quality does not matter.
    2: eBay will also strangle-hold you, they don't care about you and will use every opportunity to show it, eBay has a system set up to punish you at every turn.
    3: Crybabies, people who will abuse you if they don't like the product, pretty straight forward.
    4: Inventory and storage, yikes.
    5: Potential for growth, you will probably need to expand into multiple categories, check your top competitors, their pricing, etc, and compare it to what you can do, and find the biggest sellers, that is your earning potential. As an example, we sell a particular item for $100 profit, $300+ items.
    The problem is that you may sell 1-2 a day, its doesn't sound bad, but this is a category that will never make you 10K+ on its own, and therefore will cap you at the knees before you can even take off, which goes into my final point.
    6: Earning is capped, though not directly, making over x amount and truly breaking a barrier to turn it into a business, rather than a 9-5, is really hard.

    Thank you for this post. Lots of great information! I'm small Kine for sure. I've learned that there is NO algorithm. The one thing that works for me every time is when I list 3-5 items, I won't make a sale for the whole next day. On day 2 though, I will always sell an item that's been listed for many months. I do video tape every order and anything that is expensive or if I feel a little hesitant on the buyer, I will ask for a signature when delivered. I have a 100% Positive Feedback, but I had to bend over a couple of times to maintain that score. I do give Ritz-Carlton service though. Even for a $2 item. I have many repeat buyers because of it. I think I will make a video of how I get, and keep return buyers. Even sending postcards from here in Hawaii.

    Thx for making this video super encouraging man 👍 just cracked 50th sale beginning of this month and started selling in November. Hit my goal of making about an extra thousand bucks a month all four months now but wow!!! You're so right this is NOT an easy little side hustle. It is A LOT of work and I definitely felt burnt out after that 50th sale and have taken a step back last couple weeks... but seeing your vid talking about all the ups and downs of it really helped because it showed me I'm not the only one 😊 the goods outweigh the bads so thanks again man. Take care and God bless you! 👍

    A brilliant summary of the pros & cons, pitfalls etc of Ebay selling, thanks, most of it applicable to UK selling also. I knew much of it but always good when someone super-knowledgeable confirms your own experiences & conclusions etc. The hardest thing to learn is about how to evaluate potential saleable products with all the incidentals, risks, contributing costs etc. In a way there's a lot of juggling/multitasking involved.

    I mean it is easy to make decent part time money but to make great full time money it’s a completely different beast. From what I’ve seen the only people with the chance to do full time already had money to invest or had a spouse that was carrying the load til they got good enough and consistent enough to carry the load.

But I was wrong now it’s costing me money every month so I can relay to your video a lot of people don’t now what is involved on selling on line but I do it because I love the treasure hunting. It's getting all the packages together that's the hard part. Listing it is simple. Also with the feedback. I don't really hear from the customer when they are happy. But when they are upset they really let you know it. Still overall I like it more than working for a boss.

      What it really boils down to is whatever you buy needs to bring 2 to 2.5X the price you paid to make a profit. The rule use to be "double the price you paid", but with all the fees and now 87,000 new IRS agents, you cannot simply make 50% on an item, you'll lose it all to fees and taxes in the long run and make nothing...

    I was forced to rent a monthly storage unit to store all my inventory. I was seen as a hoarder by my wife even when I showed her all the profits we were making. Even at thousands of dollars in profits it was starting to affect my marriage. I would have inventory under our bed and in corners of our room and the trunk of my car. Storage unit solved everything its close to my apartment and it easily pays for itself each month with the profits I make on eBay and local facebook craigslist sales. Only $80 a month.

    Ive been doing this part time since the fall. Ive had a great time doing it, the thrill of the hunt and the sound of an Ebay "cha---ching" on my phone still thrills me. Im really small compared to others, im a small product reseller. My biggest find was a new Brother Fax bought for 10 bucks sealed and sold it within 5 days for 110 bucks. I do get down sometimes when I see videos of full timers making 3-4 hundred in less than a week. But, I gotta tell myself, im doing this for extra $$ and the thrill. I find your videos very entertaining and educational. Keep up the good work.

I've got a wife and kid and it's fun to do this on the side, where there's no pressure to make a sale. The thought of having to sell to feed them is terrifying. I typically have 50 items listed with 20-30 on standby, simply to keep the size and pace of my business manageable. Appreciate the content sir.

    Yes, listing sucks. But what’s worse is recently I had four consecutive sales after no sells for awhile. None of them paid me 😞. Why are non payers still an issue? At this point eBay should have buyers payment method immediately charged after winning a bid and offers are accepted. It’s pretty simple.
