    Fish decoy is used in areas where they spear pike to attract them to the ice fishing hole ( 2ft X 4ft) or so.

    Glad I watched this video yesterday. I went to local thrift store and first thing I saw was a Yonex racket sitting next to the carrying case for $1.99. Then dug in the basket further and found 4 cool ashtrays for $.99 each. I would have left them all behind if I didn't see your video. Thanks for the info.

    As someone who smokes the green stuff and knows others who smoke cigarettes, lots of smokers LOVE vintage/unique ash trays, and many of us will actually use them! I have a buddy who collects cool/weird ash trays and he uses every single one! They are very easy to clean up, so there's not much harm in using even rare/expensive ones.

    The fish decoy was used for ice fishing. They put it on a line (no hooks) and put it through the ice and jerk it up and down while you stand above the hole with a spear.

    Always happy to see your vids pop up - I procrastinate on my photos and listing to check them out. LOL The irony is not lost on me. RE: shipping the long/tall ashtrays: you need to watch how long the box is now if anyone does decide to go with priority. My husband promised priority on a car part, and it was just a little too long. The USPS has a new thing where if it's over a certain length, they charge an atrocious amount extra for PMail. Good LORD. The charge was more than the entire price of the transaction. He had me give up and take it to UPS. I warned him about switching shipping services without letting your buyer know, etc. and he said he didn't care, etc. It went for a much more reasonable price with UPS and I didn't hear anything evil afterward.

    • @FlippingJunk
      @FlippingJunk  ปีที่แล้ว

    I was in the unfortunate situation to clean out my parents home a few years ago. I needed to do it quick, and they were tidy people but kept A LOT of things from 1900s- 80s. I wasn’t reselling at the time, but I know there were valuables like the ones in this video. I just did not have the time to slowly pick. I was just thinking that a person with your knowledge could advertise to help people like me. Look stuff over, advise on what to sell, and charge a % fee of the sales. Not like estate sales, but eBay. The owner lists the stuff in a newly created eBay account, maybe you spend a day or so showing them how. I would have employed someone like that.

    • @Whyousomadcryboutit
      @Whyousomadcryboutit ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's a good idea but being completely honest as a reseller myself it's just not worth it for anyone to resell someone else's items there are far too many hassles that come with it, opposed to just buying it as an estate yourself and reselling the all of it. There's too much work involved and too little money for it to be worth more or less consigning items. Most resellers will struggle with space no matter how much they have it will always end up filled and that's just another issue with consigning. Items can potentially sit for years and that creates a slew of problems on both ends. It's never good to fill your own shelf space with someone else's item and take a small % of what should of been entirely your own profit. Another thing, you mentioned listing items in a newly created eBay account, this too would bring on a mountain of problems, being a new account you'll be muuuch more likely to be targeted by scammers and before 1k feedback I know this to be true all too well, not to mention your items will sell 10 times slower than a selling account with say 2k feedback, but on a good week 1 out of 10 happy customers will actually leave positive so getting to the amount of feedback is journey on it's own. Anyway, my point is there's a reason that re-selling is a profession, it's a ton of work and a ton of hassle, that's something all of these youtubers fail to mention is all the b/s that comes with it just like any job and how many times they've lost money on bad deals etc. Re-selling is not this glamorous perfect job, don't get me wrong it's better than an assembly line but it's not what it looks like in the movies either lol

    I think it's also important to point out the way that ebay's advanced search really works. Many of the items that you're scrolling through say they sold for such and such price but there are a number of different scenarios that the asking price will show as the price received when it really was not at all that way. I'd sold an item once for $16 with an asking price of 35 or so and when looking it up in advanced search it showed very clearly that I had sold it for the asking price even though I didn't. Also all of the money laundering b/s that happens is most of the time with the 1 bid situations, or the person 7 out of 10 times bid on it and then never pays. It will still show that item as having sold even if the person never pays and that seller never ends up with that amount.

    • @ivangotyokes
      @ivangotyokes ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even if you have multuiple quantities and you change the price up or down, it will show your listing as having sold for that new price adjusment. For instance, I have two units. I sell one at $50. I then up the price of my last one to $60. Sold listings will show that my first sale sold for $60 because I adjusted the price.

One of my death pile items are 6 huge totes full of Rokenbok I got at the Restore - think I paid $75 for them, because of all the different sets and sheer volume. They did have them for $150 at first, but I waited for them to go down, believe it or not. Anyway, since it's a long weekend for me, I think now is the perfect time to get all that stuff out, lay it out cross my living room floor to sort and list. Thanks for the push!

    OK question for anybody on the McDonald’s ashtrays I noticed there was a bunch of them when you’re doing a video like this. Do you look for sold items specifically because my dad‘s been selling for ever on eBay and I need to get better at looking items that have sold, because if the market is flooded with the items, then the value goes down, possibly and then you might not want to get that item if you’re just gonna be sitting on it, not ever sell it or you pick it up anyway and then just keep reducing the price and after time hope it sells.
