- We visited this beautiful country but we were highly disappointed by one major thing. This may be why we wouldn't visit Namibia again.

We have just come back from a visit to Namibia. I grew up there but haven't been back for a while, and people in the tourist areas are so rude! I couldn't believe it, several times we asked questions and they just looked away, it was almost funny. We're white, and both black and white people did this, so not a rascist thing. In fact even 2 guys in a white bakkie, and we drive a white bakkie, like farmers everywhere. So strange, but we loved our trip. Just btw, the first people there were Namas, so they wouldn't be happy with you claiming their land i dont think 💕
Oh my, we had a similar experience. Yip, from both races indeed. But I do hope things get better❤
Is it really true. Namibians are the most friendliest people in the world
@@johnshiluama6781 it is a generalisation i admit, but the thing is that the people who were rude were so rude that it really stunned us. But actually they were in the minority. I'm a Namibian living in SA, and people here are really friendly in general, from all walks.
Good day...Namibians are the most friendly and warm people...I really dont understand what could have happened. Anchors is such a popular hot spot because of their phenomenal service and great food....I cant believe your views about everything 😊
most times content creators are creating content out of petty complaints. their content will be so great if they concetrate on the postive side. being stared at is normal until you start creating theories in your head@@hedwignaris2007
I am a South African living in Canada. I just want to let you and your hubby know how proud I am of you, and also admire how brave you are. Your spirit of adventure is remarkable. I know for sure there is no chance in hell that I can even attempt half of what you guys are doing. I am not an outdoorsy person and admire those of you who are. I hope the hiccup in Namibia will not dampen your spirit. Keep going you beautiful Mzansi people. We are all sending you big hugs and good vibes trekking though our beautiful continent❤❤❤👌🏾✊🏾🙏🏽👏🏾
Aaw, thank you babe❤️
Hi Cc I’m a South African moving to Canada 🍁, where in Canada are you based?
The language that you're listening to is Damara it's known as the click language of Namibia
That's why people always say South Africans are too friendly, I get it. I am glad you showing us that it's possible to travel as Black people, and explore instead of just reading it in a book or internet. I love the way you being honest about your experience so that we don't shy away from people's behaviors in other countries and decide to not carry on the travel. I love seeing the dryness of Namibia the mountains looks like a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to more of these
Very true. SA is super friendly yoh.
You’re most welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed
About the dryness. If you Google About it Namibia is a dry country
@@vanneckyinga4248 i did that, but to experience it first hand would be a joy.
So true
I've lived in Namibia for almost 22 years, and never got used to the treatment given me as a foreigner. But, there are some really good Namibians out there and I appreciate their kindness.
Namibians enjoy Namibians. We are not many. Both black and white people are similar here. It's not that we do not want foreigners, but we are careful of foreigners. Never 100% trusted but just out of caution.
Agreed. We also have lack of resources. No reason to share.
As a Namibian I’m here to offer my sincerest apologies. We are still getting there with the hospitality 🙏🏽❤️🇳🇦 Thank you for visiting Namibia
One love ❤
No need to apologise love. Our experience thankfully got better. You’ll see in part 2
I am a Namibian fully and I am proud one. One thing is certain you can't go around the world and expect all to be as you are expecting. If you hear stories here and there for example South Africa on a negative side is that it's a country of high crime rate but you can go into South Africa and you won't fall a victim of any sort of crime. So what happen to you is unfortunate but is not that all is like that with Namibia/Namibians not at all, you just happen to be unfortunate that it happen to you . We are a country by far of peace and friendly people.
Very true Michael🙏🏽
True‼‼
Ooh, Namibia's a nightmare. I will never be back. Or at least I believe so.
@@IsobelMittoninAfricaNamibians aint very friendly. Ive been here for 5 years and i only have 1 friend and she also says she likes keeping to herself cos people can be something. She doesnt want to associate also but she is Namibian klaar. A Vhambu. Trust me ive accepted them and im like them too now. I keep to me😂😂. When it comes to peace i give it to them 100%
Thank you Mrs Michael, You said it all.
The visuals are sick!!❤❤❤ this is giving national geographic vibes. Well done guys
Thank you❤️
Thank you Charmaine❤️
This is the type of content we didn't know we needed, thanks to the Jawe Family and not to mention the social science, geography and tourism lessons in between...and Sadly, I also can't not mention that we carry our blackness everywhere we go, and this is proof that even our lives are experienced, sometimes daily, from this perspective...I worry for our future generations and always wonder, what is it that we can do about this, and unfortunately, there's very little we can do, especially when we realize that WE ARE NOT THE PROBLEM!
So true babe. Thank you
I also did the tour In Namibia and cover most part of Namibia and I must say sliding on
The Dunes was my favourite.
Hey Yolz, this vlog is something else. So we went to Namibia in 2019 by car and had similar experiences but nothing that going camping in the Kruger National Park in MP as a black child or visiting Cape Town/EC as a tourist did not prepare me for. What made our experience in Namibia better is us forcing locals to interact with us. In Windhoek, the locals gave us great tips to explore the city. And in Swakopmund, we sought out culture by going to the local kasi and having local food at tarvens and what an awesome experience!!! There was warmth and generosity. I also loved how the Himba people owned space against a structural exclusive environment. That's the beauty of travel, soaking up a country from a local's perspective.
Don't let this experience deter you from visiting the country again, there are pockets of excellence.
Safe travels to you and the family ❤
That sounds so awesome. Should we go back, then we’ll also explore more places with black people and culture.
She is a wambo like criticism
Thank you Yolz for unlocking our minds and boundaries. There's so much more to do and to explore! New levels of content 👌🏽
You’re welcome & Thank you babe❤️
I am a Namibian and had some horrible experiences traveling in my own country.I notice most times hotels and restaurants staff just don’t give us the same treatment as white people.Last year December we went to a very beautiful place here with my girls and everytime we jumped in the pool all them white people got out.The first time we thought it was a coincidence, but we went back in the pool twice and they got out again. We took advantage of the whole situation and enjoyed that pool.😂😂
I really hope you would be able to give Namibia another chance some day ,as that experience alone doesn’t represent the whole country 🇳🇦❤️
Yoh💔 this is heartbreaking to read. I’m so sorry you had to experience this.
Thank you💖,it’s high time we as black people explore our continent and take up space.
I wish you safe travels as you explore mama Africa💖
When you go somewhere, just go for yourself. Most black people are not that friendly, because they've never got any teaching for it. That first road to Walvisbay is actually for the truck drivers, but because some people love nature, they are taking that road and they're mostly tourists. People at small places white and black speaking English is a barrier. Unfortunately people are not used to black tourists at all. When you come again, look me up and we can take it from there...
I'm glad you're save and may God be with you wherever you go in Jesus Name.
We spent almost 3 weeks in Namibia, and i was shocked at the treatment we received from people in the hospitality industry.
It's sad that we have to experience discrimination on our own continent, but racism is a reality in African countries like Namibia, South Africa & Kenya.
I love how honest you are with your experience what I love more is seeing Namibians not taking offense because you are sharing your experience, as South Africans we should learn from that, we would have been so offended if the criticism was about South Africans, we love this country so much we want it to seem perfect, it's really not.
read the top comment replies. There are people in denial.
Everywhere is the same it happened to me in cape town while paying my groceries in a supermarket the teller lady look at me straight en start harassing me saying kwerikweri stuff
The problem is she is from majority tribe now insulting the minority thats wambo culture it's seems like they are better than other minority tribes
Yooo Yolz , it’s grieving to hear such a review about our people but trust me we Namibians also get the same treatment and attitude from our very own people. I was in Cape Town a few months ago and to be honest the experience I had was the opposite of what you received in Namibia I never for a second felt out and the people where very friendly.
Aaw, I hope things will get better.
Yolz! I'm loving your travels so much. They're igniting so much in me. Definitely taking notes and adding to my bucket list. I'm sorry about your unwelcoming experience in Namibia. Can't wait to see more of your adventures❤️❤️❤️
You I’m so proud of this family, changing the narrative bit by bit 😍🙏🏽❤️ safe travels family 🎉..God is with you and he will continue to be 🙏🏽
Travel has one unexpected consequence, that you soon figured out. South Africans truly are a diverse, but friendly and hospitable bunch. Experiencing such beautiful scenery, I am sure, more than made up for the unfriendliness of some of the locals. I truly pray that your beautiful child will one day inherit a better world, a world where all are cherished and respected. Keep challenging those who would deny us all such a life. Thanks for inviting us along for the ride. Travel safe. Much love from Cape Town❤❤❤
Thank you so much❤
South Africans are amazing at customer service.
Im Namibian and i totally agree with the bad service in the Tourism industry but the service in Namibia is super bad even in super markets. I hope this vlog is shared and please tag those restaurants also and the Namibian Tourism board 🙏🏾 we need to change for better
Racism too.
I agree with you. Its sad to hear they treat their own like that too
Wow this was such a wholesome vlog. Honestly didnt want it to end.
Crazy though that even in 2023 people still look at us different so sad. But glad you chose joy throughout the whole trip.
Nonetheless they have a beautiful country. Definitely would love to visit it
Thank you Yolz for paving the way that it can be done
Thank you love
Spent a month overlanding Namibia and never had any negative experiences with any locals or foreign visitors....quite the opposite actually.
This is so beautiful to watch Yolz. You speak so well and I love just overall the authenticity. Wish you guys well and can’t wait to watch more of your journey
I feel terrible for you. I'm a South African married to a Namibian for 19 years. We travel there often and did a similar trip last year. Our experience with people has always been pleasant.
She really is crazy stupid wambo gal
Yolz, so excited for you:-). Such an informative vlog and looking forward to more of your journey. I'm always in different countries every single day, literally! but I have learned and been so empowered by what the world has to offer. Continue to learn and grow. All the best🙂
Bathong Yolz, this is brilliant content, a travel vlog experience we didnt know we needed. God is doing a Mighty work in and through your family. So sorry for the terrible experience of the people you encountered on this trip, greater and more beautiful smiles are definitely coming ahead.
Thank you so much. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the travel content.
This was so lovely to watch! I’ve been to Namibia many years ago and I thought the cold stares (since they were from both white and black people) were as a result of the difficulty that exists in the country and I really paid no mind. I do understand that you are deeply immersed in the country vs me flying in to a specific place. Looking forward to more of these Yolz 😊
I absolutely loved this vlog😍🙌🏼, very informative and I just love how you and your family are going against the norm and being travellers in places where black people quite rarely aren't. Also, I have a feeling that God is going to bring about something huge for you and your family out of doing this❤
I’m from eswatini, got married in Namibia and have been living here in Namibia for over 10 years and I must say, the first thing that shocked me was how people don’t respond to greetings. Sadly, I have adjusted to just walk past a person because I got tired!
On the other hand, my husband is into over-landing and we are black, and he receives overwhelming love from white people, we have done the garden route in SA and let me tell you, every breakfast we went, we were the only blacks other than the service staff…we received stares whenever we walked into the restaurant but we chose not to focus on that and we had the most beautiful experience and we would do the garden route over and over again.
Namibia is a beautiful country and you should want to visit again, it’s a pity when u were in solitare you didn’t turn right and go to sossessvlei, each part of the country offers a different experience, we travel in the country and every experience has been different. I’m sorry for your experience, don’t write the country off. ( FYI, I am keen to watch how you experienced Botswana because my God, my experience with them they will insist on speaking their language EVEN when u tell them you don’t understand and they’ll be so rude)-every country is different… of course South Africa is amazing with being hospitable, but someone somewhere has a different opinion ❤
I get these German reels, facebook, i suppose meant as comedy, but apparantly greeting not normal in Germany. And lots im NAM has German ancestors, may be that plays a role.
@@vicbay100 True, Namibia has a lot of German and Afrikaans influence
Exactly what I said sossusvlei here we are more experienced and well trained on customer service.
As namibian I also experienced the same in south africa
You know what baffles me. Being treated like a stranger on your Own continent. It’s unacceptable. Glad you were open and honest about your experience. Love this travel experience. I can’t wait to do some of my own with my family one day
Thank you❤
So sorry you had bad experience. My partner and I were traveling in Namibia end of August and had a great time. We did not make any bookings as we were camping. There were a lot of foreigners visiting . We traveled from Cape Town. Enjoyed Swakopmond and Kolmanskop.
I've never enjoyed a vlog this much 😍!! Thank you very much Yolz for sharing your experience with us🤩
Thank you for taking us along. I applaud you for the bravery. I know I could never do that. I feel so blessed to be experiencing this through you❤
I think as a white South African , Namibians are a bit tired of South Africans.
So many have moved there and driven prices up for locals.
I have been there over a dozen times but not for over 20 years and they were friendly back then but Im told by a few sources it has changed in this respect.
It was odd to see the Ariamsvlei border post has not changed.
Being Black at overland vaction spots makes you a bit of an oddity.
I have travelled extensively in Southern Africa and as a White I was an oddity in many places.
Some are welcoming, some not only not friendly but even hostile.
Don't take it personally , even the dogs in some areas seem to think a White should not be here and obviously the other way as well.
People are often weary of the unknown.
I always say people if given the opportunity should travel.
You obviously learn about others but but you learn about yourself and what your own oddities are that you never even knew or conciderd were not universal.
This journey feels so surreal and I absolutely love it for you and your family x Yolz Darling!!!! YOU DESERVE ALL OF IT.
Thank you love
I’m Jamaican and this is breathtaking and inspiring! I can’t wait to visit the MOTHERLAND! My 3 year old and I are glued to this series. She keeps saying, “I want to go to Africa! Certainly looking forward to the episodes to come! Peace & love from Jamaica! 🇯🇲
Africa is not motherland you dummy
Oh Yolz, this is was so wholesome, i can't wait for next vlog and the rest of the travel content ❤❤❤
You are so brave Yolz. All the best for your adventures 😊❤ I'm gonna definitely enjoy your journey 😊😊
Hi Yolz this is such a great video ! Really informative thank you for sharing and I am so sorry about your experience 🥹 as a Namibian it’s sad that we still do have those experiences but over all I hope you loved your stay .
No lie I was genuinely hoping to see you 😆 but Next time if there will ever be another.
What a beautiful vlog. So heartwarming to see you and your family doing this. Ohh man😊I am inspired. Thank you for sharing your journey with us
Thank you Yolz,what a lovely vlog 🥰🥰
It’s so informative and interesting ❤
So glad I came accross this vlog. Very informative and genuine. I have always wanted to travel to Namibia. I feel like I will be better prepared and know what to expect when I do!
Wooow wowwww wowww Yolz!! First of all, Africa is beautiful and thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. The graphics are breathtaking and your commentary is beautiful!
This content is liberating and you’ve broadened our perspective. With all the bad things happening, take heart and elevate the situation. Be the one who reminds them that being kind and being gracious doesn’t come at a price. ❤ Love Love Love You!!
Wow, thank you so much❤️
You captured everything so beautifully Yolz❤
What a wholesome episode , this was beautifully shot and your narrating skills are so good sis!!!We also experienced horrible service at the Windhoek Hosea Kutako airport from our fellow blacks , Namibia is a beautiful country but they still have a lot to learn hospitality wise. Cant wait for the next episode at least i saw a lot of smiles there😄
I loved every bit of this Yolz. I wish you and your family abundance of joy and wealth. God bless you
Your travels will encourage and inspire fellow Africans. It is tearing down barriers and creating new paths for Africans to explore their beautiful continent. History will absorb your name and we are super proud of your bravery and determination dear black child. Our parents died for freedom and today let’s enjoy this freedom unapologetically.
You’re a beacon of hope to all of in Africa. Many will join you on this journey.
You’re more than welcome to Namibia again and reach out to few locals next time. We are all distance relatives remember that always.
Much love from Namibia 🇳🇦
Huuuu wena Yolz, didn't want this to end. Enjoyed it. And sorry you had to experience that unkindness. I once visited Namibia but didn't come across that, maybe that's because we were travelling with a local. Anticipating the next vlog. Love this
Aaw! So glad you enjoyed
I truly appreciate the honest review. After reading the comments I was left thinking of who we truly are as Namibians. There's probably some work to be done but hoping your next visit if any would be better ❤
😂😂it's good to accept different views BUT I encourage you to read my response as well. It is my 10th year in RSA after spending 7yrs in Namibia.
I feel as a people we have normalised bitterness and unfriendliness. Namibia used to be a go to place with a warm reception and great hospitality but now, people are angry, kuume
So sorry to hear about how y'all were treated 😞, quite sad to experience such in Africa. Namibia looks beautiful though, thanks for the vlog.
I’m soo going to enjoy this series. Living vicariously through you and your family
This is so interesting to watch and also very much informative... Thank you for taking us with you babes🙌
Thanks so much❤️
This just goes out to show how much there's unoccupied space on Earth. We are all just packed in one place and it feels like there's not enough land when there's soooooo soo much more.❤️❤️❤️Thank you sm for sharing this adventure with us.
I love this content. Im looking foward to the rest of it. Im on a virtual trip😅.
Also what a lovely wholesome authentic human being you are.❤
Aaw! Thank you❤️
The journey of breaking barriers & challenging hardcore stereotypes.... The journey of a new story for this family and those around them
Keep shining family, God is in charge❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.
I am happy & excited for you 💓💓💖
Such lovely content Yolz, so wholesome and we are learning so much ❤
I follow Woven she Namibian TH-camr she is so vocal and honest about racism in Namibia its just s disgusting Enjoy the journey thou hun❤️❤️
I’m a Namibian, and also a content creator , although I’ve mostly travelled through Europe and Asia , I can say that one thing I’ve noticed about being home is that waiters especially can be quite rude to black people and nicer to white people. I think it’s because they believe white people will give them more tips. But again, it all depends on where you go, and whether it’s an upper class resort/ hotel.
But that’s not to say it’s all people, if anything I find Namibians to be quite friendly if not amongst the friendliest people in all of Africa. Can’t say the same about Europe , busy with my 3 months tour there and boy…It made me appreciate Africa more! Despite the few rude people, Africans are so much nicer! 😓😓😓
2 Namibians were killed in S.A last month. This month, a Namibian in South Africa had his eyes pulled out. Literally ripped out of his sockets. He was going to buy stock for his order with me business. He wasn’t planning to stay. He was gonna come back home.
Tjo💔😭
My goodness 😭😭😭😭😭
Well said sis thank you
As a Namibian, I’m sorry your experience was not pleasant. Our industry still has a lot to learn and I hope we improve.
It is a cultural thing, not a tourism thing. Word wakker.
Yolz sooo so sorry that you met such harsh people over here .. some of us - Namibians, black and white - still have to learn a lot how to treat our visitors .. it all starts with our entry points - border posts, airports, hospitality and service industry etc pp .. I wish I could have met you and your lovely family to show you the 'other side' .. our NAM hospitality, our warmth, the diversity of our traditions and cultures - everything which makes us happy people - our love in meeting our brothers and sisters from the SADC region and beyond .. so, please do stay in touch .. 🙏
Yazi I see everything ne - not being warmly welcomed, I'm so glad you guys are doing this (all the memories 🥺🥺). Thank you for taking us with ❤
Listen!!!! This is well shot!!!! The intro!! Yolz!! Thank you for taking us into the journey!!!!!

Things definitely got better❤
Thoroughly enjoyed the vlog,siyabulela kakhulu💕💕💕.
This was beautiful to watch, Namibia is beautiful they just need to work on their hospitality and thanks to the Jawe family for tagging us along ❤️
I dont think she has truth in her...we do goes out SA and its more worse once they see you're foreigner they will not friendlier help you...Namibia in Southern Africa is more welcoming its just Zimbabwe tht tops.
This is seriously so cool!!! You’re definitely inspiring me
The content we didn't know we need😭 I'm so inspired to travel even more❤❤❤❤
I enjoyed this vlog😍😍, The quality of the video and the content is on another level. Thanks for posting this Yolz♥️💕😍

Thank you so much❤️
I can promise you are going to have a great time in Malawi 😊. You will receive the warmest smiles, mark my words 😊
Aaw! I can’t wait❤
Ndipo I wish to see sis Yolz in person ku Malawi kuno
For sure!!! @aliceneba
@aliceneba: YES!! Malawi is called the Warm Heart of Africa. Namibia's supposed to be the Smile on the Face of Africa. It's heartbreaking to hear of sourness from the very people who have always been credited with friendliness.
I normally don't watch volgs but yohhh Yolz, I really enjoyed this. I can't wait for the next one💃💃
Absolutely love this content. Can't wait for the next video
I've heard about such kind of treatment before im that part of the world am so sorry to hear that you had to experience it, i pray this not to demotivate you. There are the problem and not you. Sending you hugs and thank you for sharing your experience with us. Its so refreshing and can’t wait for more😍🥰
Thank you love. Things got a lot better as we headed north

I enjoyed EVERY MINUTE AND SECOND of this vlog. You captured your experience in Namibia SO beautifully. Thank you so much for sharing with us ❤
Thanks so much babe
Thanks for sharing this with us Yolz, may God bless you guys, always.
I literally got out of bed to have ice cream at the part you and your little one 😀. I’m sorry about your experience Yolz, I think you found my people in a mood on those days.
I’ve traveled to all those places you’ve been to but my experience was completely different, the people were always welcoming and happy to have us.
😊I was just thinking about how friendly you seem and did not expect for anyone to experience such negative vibes.I am definitely hitting you up,before I take a trip to Namibia😂
Aaw! Thank you for your kind words❤️
@ItsWoven: .... 'you found my people in a mood on those days' .... This makes me smile because it's a quaint way of putting it. Our people shouldn't be in a mood on any day!!
I cannot believe how invested i am in thesd vlogs ❤thank yiu for giving us an insight into this journey
I love this content Yolz, its very inspiring. Please keep it coming our way ❤
Namibia is beautiful. I remember the Hereros and Damaras in history. The Tropic of Capricorn in Geography.😊
Stunning! Yes!
Love, love, lobe this blog 😍. Thank you for Traveling and showing us these places. The reviews are great atleast we will know what to look out for when traveling to these places....
Look forward to the next vlog, you're a good story teller, felt the negativity you experienced as you reflected on it and my heart literally felt lighter when the clips if the Himba people came on😅 visited Nam in my youth and they were among the highlight on our journey... if you show them respect, they meet you with the most amazing welcome ❤
Aaw, thank you❤️
Yolz...thank you for sharing insight of how overall reception is in another country that is not SA. oh I wanted to comment on that language spoken on the radio station, almost sounds like the language spoken by the Khoisan here in South Africa. Anyway i am happy you guys are safe and enjoying yourselves❤
@LefenyoEverysay: 10 out of 10! They were speaking Nama. The marvelous thing is the Ouma being designated as Rooi Nasie/Red Nation, one of the many clans among the Nama people. I love the specificity of self-identification.
I'm so excited for you guys...can't wait for more content from your trip...
Can't wait for Botswana vlog❤ waiting 4 part 2 Namibia.what a beautiful place❤
Yay! Coming next week!
Oftentimes when we ask God for things we have an idea in mind what it might look like or even the why behind it. But it isn't until you take that leap of faith that God reveals more of the plan to you. I have no doubt that your journey will make many uncomfortable but they will be exposed to a new way of thinking and seeing things and people. They will be impacted dearly by their crossing of paths with you. In my church there is a song that says "Ntate roma nna dichabeng, ga ke fitlha ke go rapele" which means Father send me to your nations that I might praise you there. I can't wait to see more of this spirit lead adventure
Oh Hallelujah! Thank you❤
This was such an unanticipated beautiful comment. I was sincerely blessed by it. Thank you
Beautiful vlog❤😊
Truly inspiring 🥰
Yay! Thank you❤️
My sister you can not come to Namibia without coming to sossusvlei deadvlei sesriem canyon, we are friendly here. And this is the most attraction place in Namibia .
Aaw! I definitely will let my hubby know for next time❤️
