R.I.P Mr. Rossington. You've made my world more bearble through your music. Thank you, God bless 🙌 🎸
I was the biggest Gary Rossington fan, I can still listen to him, thank you for everything Mr. Rossington, free as a bird now
This is tough. This is effectively the end of Lynyrd Skynyrd. They replaced Leon and they replaced Billy, but Gary is irreplaceable. 😢
Yeah, anything else would be a tribute band.
Absolutely right
Right, because he is last original member
@Gerald Dixon Cummings It didn't cease to exist, it was just forced to go into a different direction. And the second incarnation put out some great music of their own. But I understand what you are saying. Sure, they could hire another guitar player to play Gary's parts, and there are plenty around who could do it, just like they did with Billy and Leon. But Gary was the sole surviving original member, and THAT nobody can replace.
Agreed , how can they go on with him ! 😢,
I am so heartbroken! Rest in Paradise Gary! Thank you for all the amazing music and memories
We are losing the band members that were the soundtrack of our lives, its sad all we can do is try to introduce some of the younger generation to the music and try to keep chugging along ourselves. Peace N Love
@@ricknelson4793 exactly!
His wife Dale is a great singer. My condolences to her.
Dale Rossington is a most incredible vocalist...right along side with a highly amazing Diane Lotny....
Born 1960! And as a fan ive grown up and listened to this #1 in a million southern rock band my whole life! Passed it to my kids and continued on down to the grandkids! THANKS SO VERY MUCH for ALL the GREAT SONGS! RIP Mr. Gary Rossington
Damn..when I was 13 I picked up guitar..I had several teachers, Jimi Hendricks, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, SRV, ect.. and last but totally NOT least...Gary Rossington.
These guys taught me all i needed to know, and have never met anyone of them to thank them personally.
Rest in Absolute Peace, Gary Rossington!
I studied under that same roster of greats, and if I may, I must include Alex Lifeson along with Ed King Allen Collins and Steve Gains. RIP Gary, Godspeed.
Yea I was always amazed at Gary’s guitar playing. I wanted to sound like him as a guitarist. R.I.P Gary, you will be missed

I shed a tear on Sunday. I’m sad to lose the final member of my favorite American Band. It is also a tear of joy, he is finally at rest with his Skynyrd Family. I pray GOD gives them a huge stage to jam. I will see them again when I go to heaven.
Fly on High Gary . Thanks for all the Great Memories ! A Fan

A very detailed overview of the band and of course Gary, RIP, you guys provided the background music of my youth. thank you all
R.I.P. GARY, MAY YOU YOUR FAMILY
BE BLESSED. THEY ARE NOW IN
ROCK - N - HEAVEN. TOGETHER.......
Power trio: Rossington, Collins & King. Three very different styles that just worked perfectly together. RIP 👍🏼
The 3 guitar Army was bad ass but Don't forget Steve Gains ... He gave Skynyrd the kick in the butt it needed after Ed King left.
Take away the plane crash and all the adversity they went through and LS would have been one of the top 3 bands of all time. These guys were on a mission and talented beyond belief. RVZ was a genius
The best interview that I have ever heard long live lynrnrd skynyrd the best southern band ever
Sorry to the family, thanks for letting us enjoy your husband and father. He will be missed by many.
I got addicted to pain pills after a motorcycle crash where both my legs were snapped in half on the tibia. (shins ) I walked away from it after abt 6 years of it. It was a controlling my life and I don't like anything having a hold on me. I pretty much stayed in bed , watched tv, ate sleeping pills and ibuprofen for about 10 or 12 days and it was over. After 6 or 7 years of that I found it strange that being high seemed the norm and being straight felt like the buzz. There is light at the end of the tunnel if you are addicted. Just reach for it. IU know you can do it!!!
They are now all Free Birds ! Rest in Peace Good Man!
I got to party we all the Band in Columbia, South Carolina in1976❤
Skinard was the People's Music and Band, so down to earth. Gary was the last memory of the original group. I pray for all those who were part of his family.
The World seems a bit smaller tonight ,,God bless the king of strongwoods you will be missed my friend !
Youre music wil go on for ever! Thank you for ever, Gary.
Duane Allman and Gary Rossington the two best southern rock guitarists ever
Rip Gary
I'm very sorry as a fan to learn of Gary's passing.
I was a huge fan of the original lineup and was deeply saddened by the shocking plane crash accident that took the lives of the leader Ronnie Vanzant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines as well as other's.
Poor Gary took such a physical pounding with significant internal injuries multiple fractures, it's a thousand wonders he survived the ordeal.
Billy Powell, Leon Wilkerson and Allen Collins also suffered serious injuries but thankfully lived not to fail to mention the notable Artimus Pile.
Gary was an amazing artist and he lived to help carry on the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd in the most honorable and dignified way.
With Gary out of the lineup any additional band performances will definitely fall in the true category of a Tribute Band.
RIP Gary.
Great Musician, you will be missed!
God speed: Mr. Gary Rossington. R.I.P.! This man was one of the true inventors of southern rock music! My very first concert was 1981 Henry Paul band- Rossington Collins band and headlining was zz-top! In St Paul. Minn. I'd seen skynyd at least 3 more times after that! All amazing shows! Gary was always the cornerstone of that band, and the other members were also amazing, and blended so superbly! Triple guitar leads and melodies! Gary right in the middle of the mix, holding it all together! First record I had was second helping. Got em all after that, and learned to play guitar to that. Thank you for the inspiration, and such kick ass honky tonk Rock! There's only one! SKYNYRD! AND GARY (YOU ARE THE MAN)! Won't ya fly i-i-i-i free bird ya!
There will never be another Lynyrd Skynyrd. My opinion is Ronnie's brother needs to form another band. RIP Gary..
GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER AND ALL YOUR FAMILY
Gary Rossington is probably one of the biggest influences in my guitar playing, I think he was underrated thank you Gary Rossington and Lynyrd Skynyrd for all the great music and being a part of my life
R.I.P. Brother, we'll miss Ya. Your all back together now. So Make it Sweet, an, "See Ya Later".
R.I.P GARY . YOUR AS FREE AS A BIRD KNOW. 🦅🎸🏴☠️🇺🇸
love Skynyrd love Rossington but Artimus is still alive and he was a part of the band and endured the plane crash he deserves. to be acknowledged
Yes, and someone also said : Ricky Medlocke , yes very much those 2 are alive.
R.I.P gary - fly high freebird
R.I.P. Gary. I will love the music you co-created with the guys in Skynyrd till the day I die.
"What song is it that you want to hear?"
🕊🕊🕊F R E E B I R D! ! !🕊🕊🕊
I love the story that Lacey went to bat for Gary at school, shows how much these guys were connected to each other from the start.
And ive heard stories that Ronnie and the guys would go over to Rick Medlocks house and listen to Shorty Medlock play harmonica on the porch which was the inspiration for Curtis Lowe.
Those boys changed the world , they were my favorite and now ol Hank Jr . Is my only musical hero left.
It's over RIP BROTHER ROCK ON IN HEAVEN
Love ❤️ and prayers to all.
I'm not sure if they can go on without gary sure people can play the songs but everyone has a different style of playing gary can not be replaced ,although theres still Ronnie's brother that sounds pretty close to his voice ,maybe they will carry on it wouldn't be the same rest in heavenly peace gary we will meet again someday ,god will take care of you till then my prayers may your soul live forever just as the music still does
God bless you man long may your music live on
Now you can Rest in peace 🕊️
Prayers for all Gary and his family and all of lynard Skynyrd family fly high free bird
Heart breaking god bless the family our prayers are with you will be missed
Please keep going, it's what they would want u to do...We will be there for all of you guys...
Sending Prayers to the family 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Absolutely tragic, another Hero fallen by the wayside, but here's a Fun Fact everyone seems to be overlooking: Rick Medlocke was in the original Band in 1971-1972 and recorded material not released until "Skynyrd's First And Last" shortly after the Crash. So that would mean MEDLOCKE is the LAST surviving member of the Band preceding Ed King...
Dude, the band was formed in 1964. Medlocke is Not a founding, original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Didn't know😢 Rest your soul Gary
It will never be the same with out Gary.Hope this band now separate, go their own ways,we really don't want a tribute band making money off the real Lynyrd Skynyrd.name.We don't need another beach boy type tribute band.RIP Gary you'll never be forgotten.
Heart breaking. RIP Brother.
May he "Rest in Peace". My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He will be truly missed.
I had tickets for the Madison Square Garden show three days before the crash...Such a loss!
To answer the question, I will remember them all.
FLY HIGH FREEBIRD...
Don't forget artimus. You see him playing on that drum.
Forgot the story where Rossingtons Les Paul fell off the guitar stand at a practise place. Snapping the headstock off. The janitor of the place told Rossington he could fix it. He did and Gary played it without a problem from then on.
R.I.P 😢
May the Lord God be with you Truly hope that you found the light 🎉
Saw the original lineup in 77 at soldier Field Chicago in Super Bowl of rock lll the concert was known as the milk jug concert because you were able to bring in two milk jugs with your favorite beverage and when Ted Nugent got on stage who Lynyrd Skynyrd backed up. Everybody hurled their empty milk jugs on the stage. Ronnie had a busted ankle and had a cast on, and he still rocked the hell out of the place. It is my very strong belief that there is never going to be another Lynyrd Skynyrd band without Ronnie. They can call themselves a tribute band, but it’s just not the same without the legend. If you read Rolling Stones, top 100 bands of all time, Skynyrd came in at 95 and their exact words were Ronnie Van Zandt was Lynyrd Skynyrd end of story
Rolling Stone can say whatever they want but that doesn't mean it's correct, they are not the be all and end all of music. Real people know what's the best when they hear it. Gary Rossington was a founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd and he kept it going as well as a human being could and that mattered a lot. Gary was there keeping the spirit of Skynyrd alive. If the musicians who are left in the Skynyrd band want to continue playing their music why shouldn't they do so? This has been their life for years, they are musicians and playing music is what they have spent their lives doing and it isn't like they haven't been Lynyrd Skynyrd for years already. And, Medlocke was a member of the band in the early 70's and Ronnie's brother has been in the band for a very long time. Leave them alone and let them do what they want to do.
@@peterbilt-bo1vy Well, you’re entitled to your opinion, but it don’t mean nothing to me. I followed them since 72. They’ll never be another Ronnie and they’ll never be another Lynyrd Skynyrd. And in case you don’t know it, they used Gary as a cash cow anytime he had heart trouble they’d be boasting that he’ll be back in a couple weeks when in fact, his doctor told him to take six months off, but he wouldn’t do it. He was 71 dude that’s not very old they rode him to death. And quit trying to tell me the history of Skynyrd. I’ve been there since the beginning.
Thoughts, Prayers and Condolences to the Rossington Family, The Family asked for privacy can you do that much.
Gary in my opinion was the Lead guitarist of the band .I called him the double stop king . Although without saying Medlocke as well as King were right there and great .Gary seemed he didn't even have to think like it magically came in a flow. However this band was the greatest band ever came out of the US as far im concerned.Gary rest in peace brother u will be missed .However u mark with Lynard Skynard will live forever .
Rip gary thank you.
There will never be another band like the L.S.B. R.I.P GARY.
RIP Gary
GOD BLESS!!!
PS."SIMPLE MAN IS GARY'S!! (W' RONNIE, OF COURSE) "TUESDAYS GONE, ANOTHER) JUST LIKE FREEBIRD MAIN SOLO WAS ALLEN COLLINS,AND "TRAVELING MAN WAS LEONS RARE PRIMARY SONGWRITER SONG! (W'RONNIE)🧐😬 JUST SAYIN' --GET UR TRIBUTE FACTS RIGHT!! OUT OF RESPECT & SO HISTORY IS KEPT ACCURATELY FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATION OF FANS☠️👍☠️😥🎸🎶😬✌️😎
What do the rossington sg les pauls cost. Sounds like a winner i will keep my eye out for some of them
Drives me crazy when Lynyrd Skynyrd is spelled wrong get it right man!!!!!
RIP. He’s a big influence on my playing and one of the reasons I’m OBSESSED with Les Pauls of which I have many and mean to get many more.
Say, what’s going on with that SG up around the 3rd or 4th? Is that some thing to raise the action for slide or?
I read in an article he used to use an old screwdriver wedged under the strings to get the action higher for slide playing
AS a Near 50 yr Fan Of Skynyrd I Just HOPE THAT As "The LAST REBEL,HAS NOW LEFT THIS EARTHLY PLANE OF EXISTENCE THE SKYNYRD REPLACEMENTS TOUR UNDER SOME OTHER NAME!! (PERHAPS VAN ZANT/MEDLOCK SKYNYRD TRIBUTE,BLAH,BLAH.. SKYNYRDS MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE ( AT LEAST IN THIS CURRENT TIME-LINE) BUT, TO ME ONCE BILLY DIED THE REAL SKYNYRD BAND WAS OVER.. THIS JUST MAKES , IT " OFFICIAL"..😥 DO THE RIGHT THING JOHNNY V. Z. !! DON'T CONTINUE THE FARCE FOR MONETARY GAIN LIKE KISS, MOTLEY CRUE,ETC.😒
RIP prince charming
I will never be attending another show.
Total clickbait, move along.
👍
Living off of likes...
Legendary people,
Don't deserve this!
Live Forever, Brasil 🇧🇷
I love how they put Johnny Depp's picture on everybody's death announcement these days jeez🙄
💙
God I hope he didn't take that stupid covid shot I've known so many that I've lost in the last 3 years from the heart and I believe it's unnecessary😢
Dude just reads wikipedia word by word.
Rest in peace Gary rossington you are really free as a bird now thank you for the great music with your great guitar playing also Gary we will all remember you God bless rest in peace Gary rossington
Skynryd gave us such great memories in the '70s. The cover band thereafter including Rossington caved in through the years. They eventually replaced our Rebel flag w/the yankee rag; I stopped supoorting them as they became turncoats. This would have never happened had Ronnie survived.
Ronnie brother not the band it died the day the plane went down
bin sehr traurig, beste Jugendzeit !
If Ronnie not on stage it's not Lynyrd Skynyrd
CLICK BAIT!! For anyone going to the comments to see how he died it doesn't tell you how he died they just want views
GOD BLESS YOU GARY . THANK YOU AND ALL OF THE ORIGONAL SKYNRD THANK YOU FOR THE BEST MUSIC EVER RECHOURDED.. REST IN PEACE BROTHER ❤️🙏✝️🙏❤️
Eddie Van Halen: "Look who walked in!"
They are no more
How sad
This is what it will sound like when AI takes over. The narration is definitely computer composed and delivered. Yup, it’s AI. Above all else, Skynyrd was an organic, human rock and roll band. Real music, played by real people, for real people. Gary Rossington deserved better than this.
It is clickbait. No cause given.
I have the feeling that Gary’s heart finally gave out. He had been saying he had heart attacks while playing onstage, and his doctors finally told him to stop touring, which is why Skynyrd was supposed to be retiring from touring.
Just think of what is it missing,, what's missing? The songs that would of been if the plane crash not of happened,, I try to imagine what would of been and the direction their music would of gone,,, best southern band ever
He cut me off in traffic on Cassatt Ave then flipped me off for honking. I guess I can forgive him now 😂
Good ha ha !
