Hey everyone. Unfortunately The Warrior portion of the video was claimed by WWE and I had to cut parts out. I've made the Patreon version free to view. Link in the description.
You know one thing about the Brawl for All that never gets brought up was how impressive Droz's performance was in the whole thing. Spitting out his own mouth guard after Hawk's kept falling out, an amazing slugfest with Savio with both showing some sportsmanship in the end and coming up short against Bradshaw who played dirty to get to that spot. Guy was a tough as they come, it's a real shame what happens to him in the end.
Totally ! Dude , I feel ya . I think Droz had TONS of potential to be a huge star . He was still only a few years in . And 100 . That mouth guard deal showed me a lot about his character .
It's crazy to see Eddie's evolution on the mic from this promo. As much of a landmark as this promo is, it's clear that EG wasn't fully comfortable on the microphone yet. But, it's such a contrast from the spitfire personality he'd become a few years later that it's definitely worth noting.
He comes into his own once he pairs up with Chyna. But this is definitely the first time where he starts really showing development on the mic. Turns out that giving a character a point to what they are doing, instead of just perpetually fighting over an under-booked lower card belt, means the wrestler can actually start flexing their skills.
Well put. Yeah, there's a strange mixture of getting a great message over, but at the same time the delivery was quite poor if we're being honest. But there's only one way to get better - practice. And boy did he get it right in the end.
No doubt. Don’t recall the PPV, but the first promo he did with WCW was absolutely dreadful. Zero charisma, energy, personality or character. He looked so incredibly uncomfortable and awkward. Then he started developing his “Lie, Cheat, Steal” personality as he was in his domineering phase over Chavo. Then he got here where he took a turning point with his promos. As someone else said, when he was “Latino Heat” with Chyna he learned to combine it. Not too long after that he brought it all together, refined it and became one of the single greatest performers in the history of professional wrestling. That overlap of character, mic work, ring skills, athleticism and charisma was out of this world. There’s others who may have excelled more in one category or the other, but I’d argue that the only other performer who was as well rounded as Eddie Guerrero was Kurt Angle. That combination of being top-5 of your generation in all of those categories puts you in a class of your own and only comes around when we’re lucky. The fact that we got to see the two of them have an AMAZING program and feud shows how incredible the Smackdown Six really was. Sorry for the tangent beyond the OP. But yes, the evolution of his character work was truly amazing and such a joy to watch.
Had a special moment last night while watching Dynamite last night. Arn was discussing things the Horsemen used to get into and at the same time, my girlfriend and I both said, "Ah...yes...Horsemen business". You sir, are part of our vernacular now!
