I’m an old metal head. I’m 52. Yeah, crusty. But I try to stay current and listen to what the youngsters are gettin into as well. I discovered this band 4-5 albums back. They kick major ass. Especially this iteration. Liked getting mauled by a Minotaur for 2 min. The only thing I wish these type bands had was a few guitar solos here and there. I’m a little old school in that sense. But nonetheless Emmure is badass.🤘🏻👊🏻

I'm still trying to understand why people don't get the concept of rhythm taking the place of complex chords and melodies. People always jump on these threads talking about "0000 11 00000" etc, as if they don't hear the complex rhythmic patterns being played in perfect unison between three different instruments, and the talent that requires. Not to mention how raw that shit sounds. You can tell a lot of metal heads have a lacking sense of rhythm, and that's why they hate on deathcore and breakdown heavy songs. I'll take this over some overly complex prog shit any day. But it's funny because Josh Travis can do that shit too. It's just not the style of this band. Bang your fucking head and stop overthinking the shit.

+Roy Bhame What I find funny is that Slave To The Game is Frankie's most hated album of his work. Then he decided to make an album sound as good as possible where the entire band work together to create a tight album....and it ended up being one of the WORST albums of all time if not the WORST. At least they recovered with Look At Yourself.
As an artist myself, generally the work produced that the artist enjoys the least is what the public tend to enjoy the most. Slave to the game is my fave album of theirs.. It's relentless and explosive followed by Look at yourself, speaker then the 3 first albums are find are pretty same old same old. Eternal enemies is my least favourite. Bring a gun to school is dope track though.
+TheDeecWun Kush Slave To The Game has some pretty damn good songs in terms of something fun to listen to, but I prefer Eternal Enemies over that album simply because not only were the songs edgy and dumb enough to please my inner bro but because there were some songs that actually sounded pretty fucking good in terms of songwriting which STTG barely had. “Nemesis” and “Rat King” are legitimately good songs for a metalcore band that still writes watered down music, but is still leagues better than Emmure ever was. And “Grave Markings” is a pretty damn good song too, it feels like the band was trying their best with the songs I listed but just came up a bit short. Objectively and subjectively speaking though, Look At Yourself is Emmure’s best album to date. It flows pretty well all the way through, the band isn’t overusing breakdowns to fucking oblivion, the lyrics have somewhat improved (somewhat), and the riffs they came up with are pretty damn enjoyable. “Gucci Prison” MAY ACTUALLY be one of my top favourite “hardcore” songs of all time, the moment that the song hits the 1 minute and 15 second mark, I go fucking insane!

But most of their older tracks are long. All 3 tracks on nine eleven zero four are in the 5 minute range and half of needlework is in the 4+ min range

That's Travis' flaw he can't make metalcore riff for emmure. So suspended in breakdowns and chugs notl hate on them but there hasn't been a good emmure song for almost 5 years so shows you a lot about the line up. Frankie should call it quits and do his own thing

Despite the hate that Emmure get - the whole "Frank is a disgusting human being" thing, despite the 'Bring your gun to school" controversy, each of the new songs they've release prior to this new album have been bang on sick. I don't know about the average metalcore fan, who may not totally agree with some of Franks (grotesque) lyrics, but fuck, Emmure have made a smashing comeback.
I should hate Emmure for some many god damn reasons, but there is something about their music that my ears just fucking love.

Frankie really is the realest frontman there is. He isn't trying to look evil or be overly edgy. He obviously loves expressing his music for himself and no one else and it shows. That's why these musicians gravitated to him, that's why people either love the band or hate it. Because he's doing what he wants. The whole "metal" but I would just say metal I'd say warped tour genres ie; pop punk punk any metal not on radio etc, the "fans" are killing it for themselves. Somewhere along the line everyone missed that music is about expression and it's a form of art, and art, is completely subjective. Fans tare every band apart for every reason they can think of. I hate going to shows because every fucking kid in the crowd has something bad to say about one of the bands, and most circle jerk over the same memes and hate on whatever its popular to hate. This scene used to be all about rage against that bullshit. It used to be about saying fuck you to what's cool, this is what we like, this is us expressing ourselves. Y'all are to bored, go ride a bike and stop hating on music.
