kinda sucks the circumstances that made Courtney and the rhythm guitarist leave IWABO, but at least we got Spiritbox out of it, been really digging them lately
what made them leave? I mean by the end the old guitar player had left and I know they're still friends with Ricky and the IWABO drummer did the first Spiritbox album and EP so I have to assume it wasn't band related.
@@waveemann8857 from what I’ve heard, the 2 of them weren’t really given much respect as bandmembers and the rest of the band didn’t give them really any say in the songwriting so they eventually got over it and left to form Spiritbox out of frustration with the IWABO guys

I would like a bit more IWABO in spiritbox. They are too close to pop music with heavy guitars. Enjoying it, but the jazzy influence of IWABO or some more prog would elevate spiritbox for me.

Best thing the band's done in ages i feel courtney has pushed a lot of influence from her old band unicron which hands done is the best thing she could of done. i really can't understand why people are giving hate. bands change with time and normally go down the wrong road and become soft metal these on the other hand have become as heavy as their first ep.

I saw them live in Massachusetts in like 2010 or something. There shows were insane. You could feel the bass in your intestines and the light show was unreal. It would kill and epileptic for sure. Such a sick band, wish they got more credit than they did.

Hail Mary should have been the album that sent IWABO all the way to the top of the scene.

I've always been a fan of iwrestledabearonce, but this is by far the best thing they've ever released.
The new sound is *amazing*. While most metal bands are selling out and making poppier, more consonant music, iwrestledabearonce continues to get better.
I've seen this video more than 100 times and I still hit replay every single time.

Late for Nothing was my first glimpse of Courtney, but I did enjoy their earlier work. LFN had incredible production, but Hail Mary was a juggernaut and should've sent them to the moon. Glad Spiritbox came into fruition, but she seems so much more animated here, youthful energy is no joke

Courtney has a manlier scream than most male vocalists right now. She's fucking awesome.
I only became an IWABO fan with Late For Nothing because they kinda ditched the gimmicky stupid shit and sound effects in their songs that I hated about their first two cds and went with almost a more traditional metalcore-ish vibe. To me, LFN was a lot of more palatable, it was very catchy and heavy, but it still had some weirdness in song title and melodies reminiscent of their older stuff without turning me off. I really like this new direction their going that is more heavy, brutal, that's a bit more grounded and not so out there. Old IWABO fans may not like this as it's not as weird as their older stuff but I'm digging it.
I feel you on this one. I began listening to IWABO when their second album came out. Loved the sense of humour in the music and the technicality. That said, when Late for Nothing had the strongest songs they'd ever written. It still had some of their silliness but it was way more controlled in how it was done.
There's only so much stupidy they can dish out before it starts to sound forced and gimmicky.
This new stuff is definitely weird still, but it's all done in a darker, more serious, more controlled way, like the last album, and it sounds way stronger because of it.
Also helps that Courtney was literally the perfect person to take over from Krysta. Such a sick vocalist.

Totally agree. Even though I couldn't take listening to the whole cd of their first two albums, some songs were heavy and appealing. The technicality is certainly there and not to be forgotten, but I Krysta was the reason I could tolerate their early stuff because her screams and growls were crazy. I don't want to say anyone is better, but Courtney definitely picked up where Krysta left off and makes the band sound just as strong.
Their new direction reminds more of Tony Danza Tapdance. I don't really know of any other bands like that, which is one reason why I liked them, but TDTE had this mathy/techdeath vibe and was brutal and I like that IWABO is sounding more like that with a controlled silliness and accentuated heaviness.
100% agree. I didn't become a fan until LFN, the old stuff was a bit out there for me. Now that I'm a fan, I can appreciate some of the older stuff, esp Danger in the Manger...that song slams. But in general, I like the direction they're going with the new stuff. And Courtney is
