    From my understanding, the units that were shipped to reviewers were preproduction units. So the production units will hopefully have fewer of these issues.
    As far as the hopper goes, I do know that a few years back when you wanted the features of the mignon you would have to buy a commercial grinder that cost more and had huge hoppers which were not suitable for the home environment. The hoppers were more durable but essentially exposed your coffee to oxidation because so much of the hopper was empty and filling it would require more than a kilo of coffee grounds. Also, large hoppers make the grinder taller than 17 inches which meant that they would not fit under most kitchen cabinets. To bring these previously unavailable features to the home market some sacrifices had to be made. The hopper quality was one of these.

      Yeah i hope. I’m al it sure about the preproduction thing though I had two other people comment that they are having the same issues with theirs

    other than the portafilter vibrating off, and the electronic interface being a little dumb, it's great.

    Great review. Did you find that it took some grinding before the accuracy was dialled in? Mine has ground less than 2lbs, and still varies wildly.

    Do you still have your atom? Would be really curious to see how they compare in terms of grind performance with a taste test or blind taste test for espresso…curious if the larger burr size really makes a difference, and the gbw would be really convenient for dialing in. Also, agree on wdt. When grinding straight into the pf I haven’t seen much need, I think it’s a little linked to the single dose craze when transferring to a pf from dosing cup, the deep distro from a wdt seems to be a little more needed vs just breaking up clumps.

    • @JoeyVaracalli
      @JoeyVaracalli  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I no longer have the atom but yeah the atom would definitely beat out in taste and performance. I will say this grinder has some clumping and could probably benefit from wdt but for my morning Brew it’s too tedious I just need a shot in the morning to get me going then I can think about stuff more

    Hey Joe - I’m debating going with the Libra or the specialita. What that comes down to is spend $425 (found a great deal) or $700+. So is paying 300 more worth it for the grind by weight feature? Appreciate your thoughts.

    I've just discovered your channel and thank you for all these videos. I have a question because I have to go ahead with the purchase (unless I wait for the new products presented in Milan last weekend), but the price of the three grinders I'm considering is not the same: Mignon Spécialità with its 55mm burrs and the Atom with its 75mm burrs. Between the two, there's the Turbo and the XL with 65mm burrs. The question is this. In your opinion, based on what you've tasted, and taking into account only the taste in the cup (speed is not important), is espresso really better with 75mm burrs, a little less so with 65mm burrs, with the 55mm raising doing less well, even if it's still respectable. I've got the Niche Zero and the idea is to have a grinder with flat burrs alongside to go for other flavors, especially for medium roasts. Thanks for your help.

    • @JoeyVaracalli
      @JoeyVaracalli  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well there’s multiple parts here but generally flavor isn’t changing much with larger burrs. What you get with more expensive grinders with larger burrs is faster grinding and many times less clumping so less need for wdt. Now personally if your ok with single dosing I’d go with the df64 www.espressooutlet.net/turin-df64-gen-2-single-dose-coffee-grinder/

    @uffa00001 ปีที่แล้ว

    The "3.1" appearing when the machine is turned on should be the firmware revision. The slight discrepancy in weight could be due to the funnel which maybe wasn't correctly calibrated into the tare of the machine. Also, I see you have two filter holders, maybe the calibration was for the other filter holder.

    • @JoeyVaracalli
      @JoeyVaracalli  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well there is the sette wi and the vario wi. Unfortunately the vario you have to does into a plastic bin and the sette is good but it’s a conical burr grinder so if you like to dose it no the porta filter and want the flat burr flavor profile this is the only option at a reasonable price

    Hi Joe,
    Good review. I have just recently got my Libra a week ago but am having issues with the dreaded "FH". No matter what I did, it still would not recognise my bottomless portafilter (360.4 grams in weight). I was hopeful that your little trick tapping grind function a couple of times with "FH" showing would work but alas, it did not. How heavy is your portafilter? As I'm wondering if mine might be too light (it shouldn't be the case though). Would you do a test on this maybe? Also, would be great if you could do a short video on the calibration part. It just confuses me.
    Thank you :)

      Yeah I’m confused by the fh thing like why did they make it this way it’s quite strange. But yeah maybe try the portafilter with a funnel on it that’s how i do it. Also if you have a two spout try that
