    You are so funny! I love your videos! Yes, I would love to see a review of both grinders.

    Have a mignon libra. I find it exceellent. That FH thing can be annoying at times but looking at this its probably bot helped by having the grinder on a rubber mat at my coffee station.

      Yeah that would make sense, it was much better once I put it on a more even surface. I still get it occasionally though, more so with bottomless portafilters.

    I love my Specialita, its best with medium to dark and ok with median roasts, I turned my grinder into a single dose machine with tilt base and will use it in future for milk coffees once I get my Varia V6 for espresso. That way I have one ginder dialled in for a milk blend and the other for espresso without having to change my grind setting when switching between two types of coffee.

    Some good timing on this. I just purchased a Duo Temp Pro and been debating buying this as my grinder so I can get off preground.

      Excellent, pairing the DTP with a grinder of this level is a very smart move in my opinion. Obviously there are lots of other options out there, but if you like the idea of this kind of work flow, just slap in the portafilter and get your desired dose, I do think this is defo one of the grinders to have on your shortlist.

    Is it suitable to use two different portafilters (regular one and bottomless, which weigh different)? Will it tare each one correctly and weigh the coffee accurately? Thank you in advance.

    Loved your video. Very informative. I have the Libra now and it’s brilliant! Very precise every time. As you say the first day of testing it out you get the FH message occasionally but rarely ever now after a few days. It’s just a case of being patient initially and getting to know the machine which is like any new gadget. I’m not sure why some people struggle with it as I find it so easy to use and saves me so much time. Absolutely love it. I will not be parting with mine.
    I am interested though, do you know if the eureka 53/54mm dosing funnel will work with a 51mm portafilter? The one I have is great and works with no issues but I like the look of the eureka ones 😂

    I used the Libra a few times at a friend's place where I was staying for a couple of months and dealing with the FH issue and the incredibly shitty hopper made me stick to my cheap Smart Grinder Pro which is inferior in terms of grinding coffee but never fails to do what it's supposed to do - grind coffee. And its hopper looks and feels 100 times better. I am used to weighing my beans before putting them in the grinder anyway so I'd rather use the Sage and not wonder if it'll stop grinding mid-way. The issue might have been caused in part by the fact he didn't have an original Eureka dosing ring (sold separately, wth?) but I didn't really have any time or desire to troubleshoot it any further. It's supposed to boost your quality of life, not destroy it. Now that I'm moving away from my starter setup and in the market for a new and better grinder, the incompatibility with 3rd party burr sets is another thing that prevents me from even considering this grinder. Which is a shame as all their stuff looks really, really good, except for the hopper part.

    How does this compare to the Fiorenzato All ground burr?

    Seems there is a GBW 65mm burr Libra on the way. Based on this info, do you think it will do fine with lighter roasts?

  • @Eoin1082
    @Eoin1082 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is this grinder the same burr set as the Specialita? Just the difference is it doses by weight rather than time? Just trying to judge the cost difference/features 😊

  • @DavidSmith-rt7dt
    @DavidSmith-rt7dt 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yes Kev …. Realised that after the research….. bottom line …the Manuale grinds dark medium and light roasts brilliantly …. The torque of the motor makes all the difference, and that was one thing the SGP did not have👌

    I think eureka may have scored a bit of an own goal here though. I have the Specialita and I find once you’ve calibrated the timer function you get to within +/- .1g most of the time. I also tried single dose with it. Curiously I seem to consistently gain about .2g out but I think retention seems pretty good.

      I see what you mean but I think people who'll spend the extra ££ on this will be people who really want a grind by weight, there's a fairly big price difference. Ta, Kev

  • @WillardTurner

    I'm surprised you think the Sette 270 WI is the obvious comparison. For me, it's the Vario W+ or Forte AP, as these both have 54mm flat burrs and grind by weight dosing. I have the Forte AP, which I've swapped the steel ditting burrs into, and I have been loving it for espresso and pourover. I did own a Specialita previously, and I vastly prefer the Forte. It seems to be cleaner with the grinding bucket, and it is not considerably louder like the Sette.

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I can see what you mean, but I'm talking about the Libra and the 270 Wi being obvious comparisons in terms of how they're used, GBW into the portafilter, very similar workflow. The Forte and Vario are GBW into the grinds collector, not via the pf forks, which is why I wasn't thinking of them quite as much, but yeah I can certainly compare them. Ta, Kev

    • @WillardTurner
      @WillardTurner 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Coffee_Kev That's true. The Forte AP has a portafilter holder which negates the grind by weight feature, and that's my biggest qualm with it. Why they decided to go that route mystifies me.

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I couldn't quite figure out the thinking behind that either, it wasn't such a bad thing on the earlier firmware which had the feature to grind by weight into the collector and then auto convert that to time and switch to forks, but they dropped that feature when they updated the firmware.

    I have the Sage Duo Temp… and originally paired it with the Smart Grinder Pro, and up untill recently this worked fine.
    However I started experimenting with lighter roasts, and unfortunately ( although a great all round grinder) the SGP just can note handle the lighter roast beans.
    I decided to upgrade, and after much research went for the Eureka Mignon Manuale, which is basically the same motor and chassis as the other Eureka Mignon range.
    Only difference….. no timer or other fancy features, and designed for purely single dosing for espresso.
    For me ….. perfect, and at less than £230-00 , considerably cheaper than the other grinders in the range.
    “Horses for courses” I guess , but if only single dosing purely for espresso, I really do not see the reason to pay more.

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Manuale is very difficult to beat at that price in my opinion, for single dosing for espresso. There is another difference though, the Manuale has the 50mm burrs, the Libra and Specialita have the 55mm burrs, also the "silent technology" which reduces some of the noise, and of course the Libra is grind by weight. But yeah, Mignon Manuale is a stonking little espresso grinder for the price. Ta, Kev.

      Hi Kev, I bought the manuale 2 months ago because it was on offer for 200€ so it was a steal. I am really happy about it, however there's surpisingly very little reviews about it and I had to do the reserach by myself. Would you be up to review it in the future? I thinkk it's a very good option for it's price and it's quite unknown... @@Coffee_Kev

    I am the new owner of a Eureka Mignon Libra. It's early on, but so far, I'm finding this to be the most frustratingly difficult grinder I've ever owned. At this point, I'm greatly regretting my purchase.

    I see an auto translated title from English to Polish, which goes as follows: "Waga Eureka Mignon. Najlepszy domowy młynek do espresso mielony na wagę?"
    Let me translate that back to english for you :)
    "Scale - Eureka Mignon. The best home grinder for espresso grounded by weight."
    Seems legit ;)

      The Eureka Mignon Libra looks fantastic with its automatic weighing function. Still, I hesitate between the ORO XL 65mm and the Libra with 55mm.
      Which grinder would you prefer for light to medium roasted beans?
