And the highest paid! This is great & all but there isn't a tailor worth a damn that will do that work cheaply. I guarantee he spent a minimum of 3x the cost of each piece to have them tailored so what's the point?? You're better off going mid-level clothing that actually fits off the rack if at all possible. If not, hit the sales regularly to get those $150 pants 50-75% & get those tailored, they will last 10x longer than WalMart crap. Look to Saks Off 5th, Nordstrom Rack dept store discount outlets etc which will include alterations fo' free! Dig what he's doing here (mostly) but tell the whole story...how 'bout that final real cost of the WalMart threads, yo?

It's funny how we go back to old school methods after trying apparently cool stuff like readymade clothing. My father still gets his clothes stitched and I am happy to have started doing it again.

Antonio Ferrer Not true. Rolex, Patek, Vacheron and other high end brands are finished to perfection. Firstly, most different thing is the movment. High end watches have high end, fancy, work of art movments while cheap watches use quarz. Quarz KEEPS WAY BETTER TIME. The average quarz loses 20 seconds a year while a rolex about 30 seconds a week(I may be wrong tho) but the components in the rolex are way more expensive and refined.

Slimming or widening pants is a lengthy process and tailoring costs vary. Where I reside a process for the pants would cost at least $40 and slimming the shirt from the sides is $25. He could have added back darts to the shirt which would eliminate the marshmallow top since he has an arch in his back.

Sarah Kwak if you have a decent tailor it's not much. I just bought 2 suits recently for weddings and had each one tailored completely for less than $40
As much as I want to praise him in most situations the tailoring will cost more than the Item.
So as a example, I paid my Tailor $100.
They adjusted the sleeve length of my Suit jacket, fitted the sleeves to my arm profile and mid section to extenuating the V torsos profile.
They tightened the waist of my pants, opened the thigh area and did a knee down taper, and adjusted the pant length.
On my dress shirt the darted the shirt to fit my body perfectly, adjusted my sleeves and shoulder profile to fit better and they relocated my right cuff button so it's a touch looser when I wear a watch.
Fairly good I'd say.

Tailoring is really not that much, I would say it's probably $15 to 20 for each piece of clothing. So in total the Walmart outfit would be around $65-70. Still not bad whatsoever
The kind of tailoring he asked for is quite expensive. A simple hem might be $20. He asked for tapering, removing a pocket, maybe even changes with the shoulders or waist. We don’t know. Those changes at up to a lot of money super fast. At some point, the tailor is rebuilds the garment, and it may not be worth the quality of the fabric.
I travel back and forth to Africa where there is super cheap tailoring. I like to purchase high quality garments that don’t fit me from thrift stores and get them rebuilt there for cheap.

Did he mention the cost of tailoring? Curious. Also here's an (obvious) tip: shop around for a tailor not necessarily for price but more importantly, to tailor clothes the way YOU want. I had a tailor totally mess up my dress shirts by reducing the size of the arms along with the waist. It came out with a baggy waist and suffocating armpit tight arms. She tried to correct it but ruined three more shirts. I finally found a good tailor, cost much more but worth it beyond belief.

Hey, I think it differs for some people. I usually shop at H&M, packsun and other name brand stores and I have a few tailors near my house since I live in new york city but usually I tailor the ends like anyone else would and it costs about $30 (Probably just because its in New York City, I have friends up north who pay $15) Hope that helps!

Your clothes are too tight and you didn't include the cost of tailoring. Personally I would prefer if a man spends his money at Walmart because if you're blowing cash on clothes, you are a doofus. Blow cash on important things like investments. Also, learn to tailor your own clothes and you'll save even more money

Jackie my husband has his clothes tailored and it runs about (in my area Southern California) he had 10 shirts tailored about $7 per item, pants less than $12 each and suit jackets were $20 each. Pretty inexpensive fix.

Every tailor is different. It's like finding the right barber. The right tailor will come down to how well they know your body and the price. For me my tailor can charge me $20 for certain areas on my trousers like shortening the bottom cuff. But if I want her to tailor my entire trousers from cuffs, thighs, buttocks, etc. it would usually run from $70-$100.
