What a nice, varied collection. I love the previously loved ones because they are just special in their own right. They gave young budding enthusiasts, like we all were, years of absolute joy and play, and 40 or 50 years later, we all enjoy them again in a different but similarly joyful way. Thanks for sharing the love of our strange hobby Tyrone, relaxing and informative as always

The first two cars, EPIC! Also you could go for an hour and I'd be there for the 60 mins! These older Matchbox castings were some of my all-time favorites. The suspension, the wheels, the look, all of it made them so different than Hot Wheels. Corgi was another "odd" brand that I felt is underrated. Some of these Matchbox castings are a bit odd, a racing tractor? Still I'd grab one in a heartbeat if I saw a classic one now.
Sorry to comment again, but I really appreciate your work, your collection, and your love for Matchbox. I do like Hot Wheels as well, but Lesney and Matchbox hold a special place for me from when I was a kid. I grew up in the 70's so these were in my stocking at Christmas.🎄 I used to race these, jump them, everything, and it was a great time for me.

Thanks, Edster III. Feel free to comment as much as you like. I enjoy reading all of them, plus it usually tells me where I’m going right or wrong. Most I my knowledge of these cars has been given to me by the viewers of this channel. 🦘👍

The car at 13:30 is a Hot Wheels Farbs. This model is called the Red Catchup. These models were released in 1971, and basically they are race drivers with engines and wheels. Keep up the great work on this channel!

I went away to University and my dad decided to have a clear out and sold my Superfast collection at a car boot. I’m still traumatised! I’d give anything to have my old collection back - I’m 60 now!

    Tyrone:
(Wearing a bandana and eye patch).
"Aaaargh, I'm a pirate and I've finally found Capt. Lesney's legendary treasure of Matchbox Island..."
That's kind of how I imagine the moment you got those two cases.🤣😜
But there really are some pieces in there that really stood out to me.
    (2:00) Lambo
If I'm looking at this correctly, the front wheels are steerable. Great idea by Lesney back then.😎
    (4:28) Merc "Police
SCHUCO models were unattainable dreams back in the 70s. Very elaborately made and fabulously detailed. The only thing that amazes me is the logo on the bonnet...
It is the logo of a very well-known German bank, the "Sparkasse"...
(So definitely not original, because even in the 60s/70s no bank had its own police cars...🤣)
    (14:39) Merc C111
    Very interesting in blue...
All 15 original cars are painted in orange, but I've also seen models of them in red and green. The blue livery is something new even for me.
    (15:26) ALVIS STALWART
My absolute favourite MB model. I own the "BP" version with yellow and green hubs.
(The military version is and remains a dream of mine. At this point...
Thanks for letting me look at yours online 😜👍🏼😁)
    (16:11) Merc 408/608 Truck
I have bad memories of this truck. I had to drive one of these once and without a synchronised gearbox and power steering it was a hell of a trip...😭 (trucking like in great-grandfather's day).
The designation 408 or 608 means 4 (or 6) tons total weight and 80 hp engine power. Back then, (in the 60s) you wouldn't have engines like today...🙄
    (21:30) Flying Bug...
    "Red Baron" meets "The Rocketeer"...?
Crazy but cool and somehow cult.
I could write something about all the models, but then this comment would have the dimensions of a mail order catalogue...😜
(And my typing finger would have to be plastered...😁🤣)
Great show T, definitely a thumbs up from me for this 👍🏼.
You and your family have a nice second advent weekend and stay safe and sound 🕯️🕯️
Keep up the good work mate 😁👍🏼
Greetings from the (slowly snowing) North Sea shore. (Swap snowfall for summer breeze at the Indic)
    😎👍🏼🎄🇦🇺✌🏼🇩🇪🎄👍🏼🤠

Thanks for your unique perspective, Sparky. The Schuco Merc police car is even more intriguing to me now. It’s a strange one. There were so many off-the-wall pieces in this purchase, it’s kept me quite busy working it all out.
Perth has hit its stride in summer days. Mid 30s and breezy is the outlook until May, 😂. (With the occasional week of 45 degree days here and there)
      🦘👍🇦🇺🍻

Finding a collection from someone is as you said opening a time capsule. It shows what this person liked and enjoyed collecting. The types of cars and the odd castings he or she may have enjoyed. I love these except when collections are sold it reminds me of losing my collections of baseball/sports cards, Star Wars figures back in 1977-83, 1999-2009. So many lost items. Sadly my cards were stolen, but my figures were given away. It really hurts to find that your vintage figures became chew toys for a dog, and a niece.

That bulldozer with the rubber treads is in amazing condition. The Hot Wheels Caterpillar bulldozer from around 1981 also had rubber treads and I got one in nice condition from a thrift store in 2013 but, by 2020, one of the treads had snapped even though I kept it on a shelf and I hadn't been putting any strain on the treads. I think the rubber deteriorated even just sitting there doing nothing.

It’s weird that some tracks last forever and others fall apart just by being exposed to the air in a room. Humidity or lack there of might be a factor too. 🤷‍♂️🦘👍

I repair vintage lighters from that era, seals or rubber type materials weren’t as good as today. Most vintage lighters need at least some if not all gaskets replaced and some even have the gaskets look like tar. I would recommend using o-ring grease. Being it fell apart faster, the precipitation plus or minus factor is definitely what did it. Keep it in the closest condition when found and occasionally examine them. But the oil should keep everything stable regardless. In my lighters I use e-cig juice. Lol. Mainly VG. My atomizer gaskets from 8 years ago are in perfect condition and the oil stays thick with only a trace of it.

May I ask what your opinion is of the newly remade Blue Shark? I initially bought it for the nostalgic value, but it is a really cool casting and it races fairly well on my Sizzler tracks. Also one more question please? The Corgi castings I realize they aren't your favorites. Do you not collect them at all? My issue sometimes is I collect too many castings...lol. From Matchbox to Hot Wheels, Auto World to Johnny Lightning, Tomica to Tomica Limited to Tomica Limited Vintage, M2 to Maisto, Majorette to Jada, as well as Greenlight, Spin Master, and Mattel Monster Jam Monster Trucks. Oops and Corgi and the old Kenner cars too. I enjoy some of each brand. Corgi was always a brand I liked but rarely found. Some of the ones you scanned quickly through were eh. But they did have some nice cars.
Anyway again sorry for the long comment, but again I really enjoy your channel and collecting has been a passion for a long time. Thank you and take care.

    • @buildingtheultimatematchbo257
      @buildingtheultimatematchbo257  2 ปีที่แล้ว

The resurrection of the Blue Shark was one of Mattel’s best moves, IMO. Love it!
I have recently started to collect Corgi but it was purely unintentional! 😂 I’m also interested in many other brands and have another TH-cam channel for anything non-Matchbox. It called Ultimate Diecast. 🦘👍
