    I love your car collection! I have two 18 gallon storage boxes of opened and unopened 55’, 56’ and 57’ Chevy cars. I collect and shop sporadically but your video has encouraged me to shop more on a regular basis. I also have other cars that appeal to me such as VW, trucks, hot rods, construction vehicles, Impala and El Camino. There are various other cars that I bought just because they looked so cool. I started buying cars in the 1970’s for myself. I tried to interest my 5 daughters in cars and they each have a small shoebox full of various cars and trucks. Then when our first grandson arrived in 2002, I started buying cars for him. Now he is 16 and his cars are in the their garage. He played with his cars for many years. My second grandson was not that interested in cars. Now I have a grandson who is almost 2 and I have been buying him cars now and then. I will wait till he is older before I give him the cars. I am a grandmother who likes to collect cars AND vintage Barbies. I figured out that my collecting is based on childhood memories of things I enjoyed. Thank you for sharing. I totally understand why you had to get a line of credit!! Happy hunting and buying.

    There's so much money in these little cars! Over the years, I've seen millions of them at garage sales, flea markets and junk shops. Boxes full of them always for sale for next to nothing. Never gave them a thought until a few days ago when I started watching HW custome, restore and collection videos like this one. Wish I bought them all. I'll probably buy them from now on as long at they're cheap. Might find some gold.

    Good to see someone acquiring rare cars. I do believe however the 1973 redlines generally are all designed with 2 pc. wheels on rear and 1 pc. on front. Not due to running short on parts, that was the design. I have a lot of '73s and they are all this way. Around '74 they went to all 1 pc. wheels.

    • @wtffor

    When I was a teenager, I used to listen to KGW. I remember when that van came out, and I had about 10 of them. When I graduated and went to work in Alaska, I came back and a former girlfriend had thrown them away. She was mad that I left to go and work and didn't spend my summer with her doing the things she liked.

    • @wtffor
      @wtffor  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow that is an incredible and very sad (angering even!) story. Imagine somewhere, buried deep in the ground, are 10 KGW super vans..... I'm sorry to hear about the fate of your Hot Wheels!

      That would definitely be a former, not a current. I don't understand people like that. I had a lot of my matchboxes stolen when I was a kid. I don't understand people who don't appreciate the sentimentality of those miniatures.

    Amazing collection, what a blast from the past. Could you please tell me what kind of storage/display cases you're using? I'd really like to organize my son's collection and they look great. I'm assuming the ones you mounted on the wall are the same type as the ones you have stacked to the side with the covers removed, is that correct? They look like hardware organizers for fasteners.

    • @wtffor

Thank you nonetheless, I appreciate your time! What kind of a man has a Hot Wheels collection? This has to be the most geeked out, nerdy collection I have ever seen in my life.
    P.S. Is it cool if I come over and push around a couple of these? I swear I won't push down too hard or push them too fast to make them flip. haha
    Seriously, thanks you SO much for sharing this great collection. You have done your homework and passed with flying colors! This is awesome.

    hi,i just wonderd...i bought 2 of this 74van(a red fire cheif 2016),one to be original and one to customize,but when i split top from bottom,the van got some crates and tool boxes inside. why? its a closed van,with no doors or windows.. thoght you might know

    • @wtffor
      @wtffor  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very interesting! It may have something to do with that the a lot of the parts on the Super Van are also shared with the Backwoods Bomb, Rescue Ranger, and Ramblin' Wrecker... but I can't be sure. Worth comparing those vehicles though, see if that answers your question.

      ok. thanks.i do not hve those models,but i guess the good old internet can help :) i'm not a big collector,just by the cool muscle cars and other ones i like. live in norway(europe) and its not that many stores that sell or have a good wariaty of cars here. just came across your channel, i like it. keep up the good work. i'm wery impresed by all the info you have on old cars

      I'm fine with that. Sometimes it means losing half of the value in a split second, but I need to watch these cars in hand. What if the hidden side had a factory flaw ? Takes less room to display, then, and allows me to grab them occasionally for comparison pictures. DLM has many members (Diecast Liberation Movement).

    Hi is a 1982 speed machines spacer racer with missing canopy and slight paint wear is worth going for for roughly 12$ ? BTW keep up the great vids

    • @wtffor
      @wtffor  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jamie moore In mint condition I've seen Spacer Racer's sell for $30 to $35. So if it's missing parts and chipped I wouldn't spend more then a few bucks on it personally, unless I was really desperate for a "filler" car. Realistically book value at that condition (C3), would be $3 to $4.

    At about 2:20 right when you opened the super van, I see a truck with a camper top in the background. Can you tell me anything about it? What year, maybe how rare and if a person could get one at a reasonable price. I have been collecting for a while but I don't go all out on it but I like that truck w/camper top. I would like to get one or two if possible. Thanks for your time.

      +brandy sigmon not sure as per year or rarity but  can tell you it is a Matchbox Superfast Camper
      doing a little research it is a Ford Camper seems to be made in the early 80's in the 1-75 series it is number 38
      hope that helps

    • @canadiancatgreen
      @canadiancatgreen 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +brandy sigmon not Hot Wheels just Matchbox. both Matchbox and Hot Wheels are owned by Matell now but at that time they weren't. actually looking at the cars in the background there is a number of cars made by Matchbox there

Its story is ...I bought a Happy Meal from a fast food restaurant called "Herfy's" in portland in 1974.In the happy meal was the Van. I am Honored that you have it now. I will keep watching .YOU ARE THE HOT WHEEL GOD !!!

    Among the most desired HOT WHEELS of 1974 was the fire engine that accurately depicted the rescue Squad 51 as featured in the NBC series "EMERGENCY!"
    That vehicle came out about a year and a half after the T.V. show premiered, and sure that due to the shows popularity, the models sold exceptionally well

    You and I might've been after the same cars on eBay this month! I think we might shop from the same seller. Haha! I too am trying to fill the gaps in my black wall collection... and, it's coming down to the rare and expensive stuff. Congrats on the new additions!

    • @wtffor
      @wtffor  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no doubt that I battle it out on eBay with many of my fellow TH-cam collectors and friends.... If only there were more to go around, it is becoming quite an expensive hobby. How many cars do you have left that you need?

    • @veedubmatt
      @veedubmatt 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha! Expensive, indeed! I have approximately seventy-five cars left to go before my collection of black walls (1974-1989) is complete. This does not include international releases (India, France, and Mexico). The majority of my list is the oddball stuff, or the extremely rare ($500) releases.

    I have the 1970 red line Mercedes Benz C-111 WITH the C-111 printed on "trunk area" of car. I would estimate it to be in at least FAIR condition, but probably better. You mentioned that this was very rare if I'm hearing right. Any estimate of it's value?
