Just the video I needed to see! My just turned 15 months old has been trying to join in with household chores, he's not walking yet, but it really helps to see how others toddlers learn to do chores. I like the idea you have of using a smaller, child-size drying rack to make it easier.
The title reminds me of the Japanese show Old Enough! はじめてのおつかい which is one of my favorite shows ever and I don't even have kids! Showing toddlers running around doing errands, it's so heartwarming and hilarious! A very different mentality to where I'm from these days.
From my experience with my niece (15months old) and from your sharings, I have come to realize that toys are not involved much while I am baby sitting her. She loves lending me a helping hand while I am doing the chores and she’s around. Thank u for your insights btw.
It’s so nice to see him grow, he is about 4-5 months older than my girl so I always come to your channel for ideas. Makes me emotional to see him toddling along, my girl is very determined to walk too.
Thank you for sharing. My baby is 1 year old. He seems not interested in playing with toys too much but he enjoys walking around to discover new things in real life. He helps me cleaning his play mat and seems liking it a lot. I should start to get him involved in more real life activities from now.
i found you when i was pregnant ..so fun to see you are raising a boy the same age as mine..great ideas ..thank you..we have done quite a few of these tasks ..so fun to watch
With my son, i play a game "Where does it live?" - he puts things back where they belong. I enjoyed your video sonmuch! Gonna try most of the activities for sure :)
Great 🙂 I love how relaxed you are about it I have a 10 month old so it's probably a bit too early for her! You've given us some good ideas when the time is right.
My 18 month old also loves helping with chores! He also struggles with putting things away because sometimes putting things in a bin and then dumping it out is his activity of choice, so it’s hard to explain what we are doing. But we persist with having him help pick up toys and messes. His favorite household activities include taking out recycles with dad, vacuuming (with small handheld vacuum), dusting low shelves (which is great help for me because I’m currently pregnant!), putting laundry into the basket/dryer, unloading silverware and other small items from the dishwasher, and adding ingredients to the bowl when baking (I measure them out first and I put my hand over his to help with pouring). We have also tried watering plants and it is helpful to have a watering can with a long curved handle that goes down the side, and show them the best spot to hold it to get a steady flow. Still working on that one! We are excited to try chopping vegetables and fruits with safety knives soon when his dexterity improves. Fits when we are busy with chores and cooking have decreased since we found a role for him. It takes patience and things go slower but it is worth it.
He is way too cute🤗 my daughter Amelia loves helping mommy. She's 2 and has been sweeping and wiping for months. Now she helps dry dishes (mostly the plastic items) and takes the laundry out of the basket so I can organize into categories.
My son is a similar age and I get him to help take washing out of the washing machine (it works especially well if it’s small items like his clothes or bibs/facewashers) and also to hand me pegs or items when I put things on the washing line. He also hands me clean socks and underwear from the basket when I’m folding laundry and putting socks in pairs. I love your suggestion of getting a child to wipe their own face and the table or highchair tray, and he’s already started trying to help me wipe up messes on the floor so maybe I should try the mop idea too. Great video, and your son looks so sweet and focused.
Hahahaha....this is so funny and cute! I thought him collecting clothes was good, then it went awry a little bit. 😂 The mopping was truly impressive. Seeing him hold the handbag was cute! Montessori upbringing is really interesting!
LOVE this video. Yes little ones are so capable and want to help sometimes even more than play with toys. So cute him smelling daddy's sock, and so thorough in wiping table :)
I will definitely try this Hazie!! thanks so much! my child is now almost 14 months old and also wants to be involved in my household chores especially in the kitchen! I will try these suggestions of yours!
This is indeed very heartwarming and very wonderful and very beautiful and very adorable and this brings back such great memories of when I use to be a 90s kid and an early 2000s kid and I am a new subscriber as well:).
Great job, mama 😊 kids look happy and healthy. How is Elijah's eating going with BLW? Are you teaching him a lot of baby signs still, and is he signing back to you?
Thank you! Yes, we're still going with BLW, but it's more like a half-and-half at the moment. In terms of baby sign language, we are mainly using 2 to 3 signs (milk, more and finish), and it's been a while since he started signing back to me, especially the 'More' sign. Lol.
Thanks a lott Hazie for your videos! I can't say enough how I appreciate them. I watch them again and again once in a while and use them as a good reference for others. I am a first time mom with a daughter just a couple of months younger than Elijah (my apologies if I misspell his name. I think I saw it in some video of yours but couldn't find it). We only have a small apartment but I try to make some space for her to explore and develop thanks to your ideas and tips. I got some questions for you as well: 1. How do you child proof electric sockers and cord? Our work station is in the living room and I haven't let her crawl freely yet because of it and the fireplace. 2. Is the sand that you let them play a special one or just normal sand? I am afraid that they can go to their eye or they can eat it. Thanks!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad the videos are helpful for you. 1. I used Mickey Ha Ha outlet covers from Amazon. I also try to hide them behind furniture so it's not tempting for him to touch. 2. The sand I use is play sand, which is cleaner and safer for kids. I understand your concern - even with supervision, my son has eaten it a few times. But he seems to have realised it doesn’t taste very nice, so he eats it less now... lol.
Always love your content Hazie. I wanted to ask if you've had any issues with jealousy between Alina and Elijah, and what you do in those situations? I have a boy and girl of similar age and my daughter constantly wants to take what my son has or copy everything he does (even though she is the older one like Alina). She pushes him or cries whenever he does something she doesn't like (even laughing 😐) I find it hard to teach him or show him things like you have to Elijah in this video because my daughter takes over and doesn't give him a turn...I am not sure what to do. Sorry this was such a long comment, but I would love to hear your opinion.
The way he smells his dad's sock lol 😂😂😂😂😂 so cute!

What a cutie pants! He wiped the table so articulately for a toddler, and he looked so focused with the silverware, like he was on the clock!

I do a lot of these with my 18 month old! He loves using the swiffer with the dry pads 😂

He is amazing at the emptying the dishwasher! Look at that focus and control!

올해 본 영상중에 가장 귀엽고 행복한 영상이에요. 영어회화 연습 할 때 반복해서 봐야겠어요ㅎㅎ
Mine is 12 month old and remove the clothe from the basket. I never had the thoughts of it but imma make him learn and let him do.
어쩌죠..너무귀엽자나 ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ❤❤❤

Such a cute video! Would you consider doing a video on how you aproach the bilingual life with kids. Thank you
Hazie, it's really cool ideas and implementation 👏👏👏
Thanks! 😃
Thank you for the great video! Could I please ask where you got the laundry rack from?
Hi! You are welcome 😊😊I got mine from a local store, this is the link to something similar on Amazon! amzn.to/3KYHiFU
So cute he enjoyed chores! Where did you get the toddler size drying rack?

What sort of situations warrant praise (eg "good"/"nice work") vs "you did it"?
